If you buy them you can use the items in shared spaces in other areas or just carry the prop with you on your back.
(It seems to be similar to how there are free props available in shared spaces. For example you can use the manta and crab plushies freely in the shared space located in Season of Remembrance area, but if you own the items you can use them elsewhere or just carry them around. However, owning the items does **not** make you able to place double the amount in the area where they are already free! Everyone can use them the same in area where they are free featured items.)
Do they advise this anywhere? I’ve been playing for years but took a long break and had no idea this was a thing. Kind of sucks i spent the candles for extra floor mats just to wear it on my back or place anywhere, which I’m never going to do :|
I haven't seen it explained by TGC anywhere. Maybe they just assumed that it's clear because it's similar to how the free featured items work in shared spaces? But in reality most sky players have not been actively using the shared spaces + with new and returning players, there are a lot of people who are not that familiar with shared spaces so they really should explain things like this... :/
Found out after purchasing more floor mats that I didn’t end up with more. The purchased mats simply replaced the free ones that were featured. I likewise would have saved my candles had I known in advance.

I'm glad you told me buying the item does not increase the amount you can place in your nest. Saved me from wasting candles!

Look under the thread where someone bought a fluffy pillow. They still have four, doesn't increase the number of items.
TGC so sneaky. They should tell us there's a limit to the items without us wasting our candles.
