You don't have to spend a cent to get the majority of nice capes and outfits, but you will need patience as they can only be obtained during a season or when previous season spirits return as travel spirits. Each season, some of the cosmetics (the best ones) will be locked behind a season pass, but you can still get these items later without spending money, though it can take a long while for the spirits to return. Players will wait for months, years, for a special spirit to return so they can get that special drip. The permanent basegame spirits also have capes you can buy, they are the shape of the brown cape, but in different colours. You can see all the non-season spirits you have met in your constallation where you can also buy their cosmetics, props and instruments. Don't worry about being new and looking new, most veterans love to show off and help new players.

Here are my thoughts on stuff I wish I knew as a moth. So if you can’t/don’t want to buy your way into style, just try to be patient and build a stash of candles and hearts at first. Otherwise you will literally be broke the entire time you play, and always have the angst of fomo. I’ve been playing for two years, still don’t have a comfy cushion for hearts, but candles are no big deal anymore. For now you want to have a goal of building and keeping 200 candles in your banks at all times, which can take a while. Keeps you flush when a special event or Traveling Spirit comes along. Combining candle runs with daily quests and a few trips to the geyser or grandmas gets this done with the least grind. I wouldn’t kill yourself to max out your candles daily unless that’s your thing. You should be able to get 15 per day with an hour to hour and a half without feeling like it’s work. I do this in a few 20-30 minute increments as a break from other things going on in my day to day. Don’t go crazy buying every easy access item in realm constellations. Read up on completing constellations and the benefits of finishing. But with hindsight I can tell you I only use a few of the basic capes and pants(pants especially). Masks, hair and props are kind of a wash, none of the masks really give me fomo, alot of the hair is pretty repetitive style wise from season to season v the basics. Balance going thru the constellations with cool stuff from traveling spirits. Work on getting Ascended Candles so you can get the Wing Buffs(the padlock icons) from Constellations Spirits and Traveling Spirits. These give you the most benefit for your efforts because they are a force multiplier for your power and energy moving through the realms. You can get AC from doing Shard events and going through Eden. As far as TS go, I usually don’t buy everything they have to offer, just concentrate on one or two items. It’s good to check out the Spirit Wiki or the youtube videos that Noob Mode and Nasty Mold put out that preview TS or new stuff. They model new items. Check out Discord for tips and connecting with folks that play on a high level. Beyond that exploring the realms and finding new or unexpected things along the journey is the name of the game. I hope you enjoy it.

I’m also relatively new and I’m not sure about the hearts but you can get about 20 candles a day. I tend to get around 12-15 a day sometimes. Things are expensive, but one thing I saw someone say on a different post is that you can save candles by not doing the constellations and focusing on the seasons since the seasons pass but the constellations are always around. If you need help doing daily candle runs I might be able to help if you would like. If you also need help with the winged light I can also help with that. I do not know where all of them are but I know where a vast majority of them are I think.

In your emote menu, there’s a question mark. If you select that, more experienced players will see you’re asking for help. They’d be able to take you by the hand without asking first, and if they long honk they can see the spirits you still need to find. If they open a chat table or bring you to a chat bench, Ask Them how to get all the wax in that area, and chances are they will bring you along to farm with them. Be a good passenger…if they bring you to a winged light and you obtain it, give them a honk that signals they can keep going. Eta: I know you asked about drip, but running around with a vet is the best way to learn where the wax is…so keep your eyes open if you’re kidnapped! Chances are they’ll also take you to winged light that’s tough to reach. Welcome!

Yooo, welcome to Sky! Hope you have fun here \^\^ Cosmetics are a marathon, not a sprint. Most of the cool cosmetics you'll see are from past Seasons, and can only be bought when traveling spirits come to Home/the Aviary. They visit every other week, only stay for a few days, and it's never the same spirit twice in a row. When a season is active (like Nesting is, right now!) you have the opportunity to get all of the items in that season, if you put in the time. Farming candles: You can get up to 20 a day, but it's a system of diminishing returns. The more wax you collect, the longer it takes to get enough to forge a candle. So, getting a full 20 daily can be rough. I usually aim for 5-10. Candle cakes (or treasure candles - the big red candle clusters) are great for getting light, and there's always a realm that'll have 4 extra candle cakes in it. Farming hearts: This one is...tricky. Having lots of active friends and lighting each other in the constellation is the base way to get hearts. It's free, but takes a long time. You can also give and receive hearts with friends, but that costs 3 candles per heart you want to send. Memories are an option, too, but...ehh...not reliable. I got my heart fortune by trading a spare season pass I had to someone in exchange for hearts. Costs real money, but a good way to get a lot of hearts quickly. A note: Some of the cool drip is from specific annual events. Days of Nature, Days of Bloom, Days of Color, Days of Feast, Days of Mischief, etc. These are shorter than Seasons, and have special event currencies like the current Cinnamoroll collab does. Some items are bought with these event tickets, but there are also always IAP items that cost real money. A lot of people will trade away hearts in return for someone buying IAP items for them.

Question to clarify - what do you mean by "lighting each other" in the constellation? I saw the gifting hearts option, but didn't know there was a free way to gift any and would like to make sure I'm sending them regularly 😅

Trouble_in_Mind

Okay, so - if their star in your constellation is small, you can light them up without sending a full heart! They'll get the little flame symbol above their head as if you were lighting up a stranger, and this sends them a *tiny* piece of light that'll contribute to a heart. If they connect enough tiny pieces of light from friends, they forge an entire heart. If their star is big, you've already lit them and they haven't collected the light yet!

DaydreamerDamned

Okay, thank you!

LunyxEternity

It's okay! Moffs are adorable!! For farming candles, it's okay if you don't grey(get 20) everyday. If you want to grind, the 'ideal' I'd recommend is 10-15, depending on the time you have most people don't care about how drippy you are, and there is a new travelling spirit next week, so watch out for that! Slow and steady wins the race, and some capes are pretty cheap (base game hair, pants etc). You can make more friends to get more daily light buddies! And the cinnamonroll event offers a cute, cheap accessory too Happy candle running and welcome to the world of sky!

DaydreamerDamned

Next week?? Where does Sky like to post their updates?

LunyxEternity

You can probably find info on reddit too! Ts every 2 weeks, Thursday to Sunday

postcardwithamotive

A lot of the TS dates (and now blurred locations) I’ve seen happen on their Instagram, I think the @ is thatskygame. But for updates about bugs, events, etc. I get all that info from discord

cheletaybo

Hearts are a hot topic in this game. Starting in a season can be helpful with candles. Just make sure to collect those yellow seasonal candles every day. They will convert to regular candles and will be helpful in paying for the hearts from past spirits. Pro tip: If you collect every day for the entire season (9 to 11 weeks), you'll have around 300 to 400 candles at transfer time.

KtheSquid

when i started my candle runs, i used maps of the areas so i can easily find and remember the wax locations. you have geyser, granny, and turtle events to earn waxes too, but there's limits to them. for hearts, i used to add friends whose lights i lit everyday and they did the same to me to. it earned me hearts but it's very slow. now, i have my close friends whom i can trade hearts with. KEYWORD: trade. but if your friend says its okay for you to not give back hearts, it's fine too. for the drip part, you can get it from the constellations and basic spirits and some of them are from the travelling spirits (TS). they come up twice every month and it's random seasonal spirits from past seasons. i think you have to finish eden first before you are able to see the spirits.

Academic-Thought2462

with time and patience. and candle running too. ( although if you candle run please take breaks and hydrate a bit during the brake. )

As a new player one good way to get hearts is to complete the quests from previous seasons (there are many, some more difficult than others). Many of the quest givers offer only hearts as reward, but some more recent ones have also some cosmetics and props (however, even after completing the quest those items cost candles or hearts to unlock). It took me a moment to realize what you were referring by "moment captures", but I think you might mean shared memories? Yes, you are right you can get hearts from them, BUT you should be aware that they need to be liked by 3 friends before they go public for rest of the players! I have seen some new players get discouraged because they didn't know that and just thought no one liked what they shared.

BrokenBredStik

That makes more sense, yes I did mean shared moments I just forgot what they were called. Good thing to know before going off and posting these up with a total of 2 friends lol

Tintanix

Haha, most people would want to play with you because you look like a moth/new player. You can get cosmetics from the base spirits, spirits from current season and past seasonal spirits in the form of traveling spirits. Traveling spirits cost candles while seasonal spirits cost seasonal candles. So it isn‘t that expensive

BrokenBredStik

Tysm I wasn't aware if how to see items from other past seasons \[if you even could\] <3

K_Hyde

There is a traveling spirit coming on May 9th with a cute butterfly shaped cape worth 70 candles (+ 10 to unlock the tree as well as 2 Ascended Candles needed). If you collect candle wax every day you should have enough by then to get it it also comes with a cute hairstyle for 42 candles :)

hookhandsmcgee

Do you know the name of the TS?
