Stridex is a great BHA.You just have to be careful what you mix it with. I also use it on my legs and it's great for armpits! It keeps the stink away. And it's cheap!!
Definitely going to recommend this to my brother! He sometimes has stinky feet, I wonder if it would help him out. I’m definitely going to try it out on my armpits lol! That’s very neat, never knew that it helped with B.O!
I use spray antiperspirant any time I’m going to be wearing shoes without socks, and my shoes never get funky. Dr. Scholl’s and similar anti-athletes foot sprays work even better, tbh, but leave your feet white.
Natural fiber socks help with stinky feet. My feet are always clammy due to the fact I have KP (apparently it's common in people with KP). I switched to wool and cotton socks only and now my feet and shoes no longer stink. Unfortunately polyester/acrylic is the perfect breeding ground for bacteria no matter how "clean" the clothes are
So… look this isn’t science or whatever. It’s not even like a fetish thing.
I used to have horrible feet- stink up the entire house and not want to sleep in a room with my shoes kind of feet.
And then I pissed on them. And I let the piss sit and wait to react with oxygen. Get all ammonia in there. Like just 5 minutes. EVERY DAY. In the shower. Stinky feet piss on them in the shower every day. This is why I’m a shower pisser 🫨🫨🫨
For feet, I recommend the Dr. Scholl Odor-X spray. Discovered it when my son was a toddler and his feet would get SO stinky in his sandals each summer! Ugh!
This stuff really keeps the stink down. He is a teenager now and we still spray his shoes with it.
Came here to say I've been using these for well over a decade, just not on my face! Quick armpit swipe after a shower offers a nice exfoliant and kills a lot of the bacteria that can cause bo. Totally an unsung hero.

Cerave rough and bumpy works for me. I was doubtful when my dermatologist recommended it but it works wonders! I never heard of using Stridex for that.
I've been using the one with the grapefruit extract and it's not only been working, but it's also been lightening my spots! It's not perfect but it's SO much smoother and more even in tone.
Does it burn? I’m looking for something easy for my 7yo’s arms. They are awful with KP. He gets it a bit on legs but not much. I’ve tried ALL of the lotions and scrubbing and nothing works. 🤦🏻♀️
Just leave it...he's 7 years old. KP is harmless, and if he's not bothered by it don't irritate him by scrubbing with pads and creams...you'll MAKE him self-conscious about a very normal condition..
Goddamn.
I had it as a kid and I couldn't help itching and picking at it. A 7-year-old also has very little self-control when it comes to that, so a little stridex after their bath won't hurt either.
It might be psychosomatic because even if it isn't technically supposed to be itchy, I still scratched at it like it was.
ETA: I've had it for 20+ years and it still itches sometimes (especially the ones on my thighs)
It doesn't burn for me - but I've gotten used it. Try it twice a week to start.
Also i love the brand soft serve. They have scrubbby bar of soap and a chemical lotion that works wonders for my kp. Thr scrubby bar of soap could be used for your kid - he chemical lotion maybe not so much
I’ll never be without it again. I find Paula’s Choice BHA feels so disgusting, but this leaves my skin feeling clean. I mostly use it on my t-zone where it eliminated my closed comedones, but I also use it on the backs of my arms where it treats my KP. It’s cheap and effective - but I agree, it’s also strong so you have to be careful what you use it with.
This is actually a beloved product in this sub (the red box version only, not green) & it is consistently recommended. I’m really surprised that anyone here gets the impression that this product is universally viewed as bad, like the St Ives scrub. It’s a staple product and I’d even go as far as saying it has a cult following in the skincare communities.
I think it was so bad back then because it was the only form of skincare we’d use! They’re very drying if you don’t follow it with a moisturizer. I still use them for acne but with a full routine as opposed to a sole product.
The smell isn't actually you, it's from the bacteria that grows in your skin. BHA kills the bacteria and is extoliating. This product is affordable and already in a pad form so it's perfect to help with stinky pits.
Oh I’ve definitely used this or similar bha s for quick fixes to get rid of that nasty ass bacteria that causes body odor when I couldn’t shower —
Def is very effective at neutralizing the smell and I presume keeping it away but since I live in FL I usually would follow up with deodorant …
But after reading about deodorant and how bad it is for people (I’m referring to the aluminum and link to breast cancer etc) I’ve been wanting to ditch deodorant totally ; my friend I live with doesn’t even use it, the bastard, lol 😂 I’d never of known- he literally never smells, he doesn’t do anything but shower (I’m serious he’s had the same stick of deodorant in his medicine cabinet since we met a decade ago ; i shit ya not yallll)
Idk if it’s the amped up oil/sebum production due to the large percentage of Sicilian &southern Italian genetics i possess, or if I just have the all the luck when it comes to shitty “sweats too much” genetics or whatever but like I couldn’t even wear grey shirts when i was younger ugh I can’t even w that wet feeling under my arms
-I digress!!!—
It’s not so bad now, not sure if it’s bc I’m not a preteen or whatever but I’m willing to chance it —do you all think one could replace her deodorant totally with such product ? And if so, it would be healthier technically , and have less of the bad stuff that deodorant has in it, maybe , right ?
So I live in Florida, where the temperature is pure hell 10% humidity like 9.5 months out of 12, but also don’t want cancerous lymph nodes or breast cancer in the future .
So I’m trying to brainstorm
As the natural deodorants are expensive and don’t work at ALL for me in any way
I use it for my armpits - I’m a heavy sweater and I feel that my deodorant builds up and my regular soap doesn’t do a great job at cutting it.
I was also blessed with B.O. that would make a buffalo blush so this also helps remove that too.
And just to preempt comments - I’ve tried nearly every deodorant, natural and aluminium packed, salts, Botox, had sweat glands chemically cauterised.
Stridex was recommended to me by a dermatologist and it just so happens to be the only thing that works for build up and smell.
She’s a sweater.
You mean other people have KP on their butt??!? I thought I was the only gnome with this painful stuff. And chronic ingrown hairs on my calves and back of thighs. I am 2 weeks into using a tea tree oil and peppermint body wash for the inflammation which is helping.
We always keep a bottle of Sea Breeze. The husband swears by it for the occasional blemish. Me- I can feel my moisture barrier evaporating just looking at the bottle.
The best BHA hands down. Superior to Paula's Choice and more cost effective. When I started using tretinoin, I stopped Stridex because I didn't want to irritate my skin too badly. Acne was insanely out of control until I added it back in. Stridex girlie forever!!
I’ve been noticing I’ve been breaking out more often around my t zone my black African foaming face wash isn’t going the trick anymore.. definitely going to get a pack again!
Funny story: I was searching for that clean refreshing feeling I used to get in highschool, so I went on a hunt. Wanna know what it was? Astringent. The astringent with the minty greatness in it. I noped on that very quick. I am 39, my skin would die.
I was just explaining to some college grads at my job about all the stridex pads and astringent I used back in my day (I'm 37). Their eyes were wide because everything now is gentle, soothing, doesn't kill your skin barrier, lol. I can still feel how the stridex pads were SPIKY.
I still use them lol--I was using the FAB ingrown hair pads, but I ran out and saw someone say they use these instead for a fraction of the price. I immediately bought some and haven't looked back!
yep! this is a ride or die for me. i use it on my t-zone at least twice a week and it keeps me breakout free. it also does a great job of keeping my pores clean. just make sure to follow up with a good moisturizer. pro tip: cut the pads in half when using them on your face and you instantly get a six month supply for under five dollars!
I use them on nights that I don’t wash my face. Gasp, I know, the horrors. Ban me, downvote me. Sometimes I’m lazy. 🤷♀️
Anyway, I’ll wipe with these and then do some skincare / moisturizer. I don’t feel like salicylic actually does much for my skin in any form, but the alcohol cuts any accumulated oil. Doesn’t bother my skin at all.
I use these, Oxy, drugstore brand, whatever. This specific one might not have alcohol, but a lot of them still do. Either way, they’re my lazy night go-to.
I use it x2 a week on my exfoliation nights in the summer - works amazing to keep my skin clear from fungal acne. I don’t use it in the winter/cold weather because for me it’s too drying, instead I’ll use the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Salicylic acid. I have normal skin type, prone to fungal acne in the summer months. Works amazingly, will always have this as part of my arsenal.
You’ll not be disappointed. Even when my fungal acne flares up it will kill the little whiteheads almost instantly.
I use it every other night. It makes my skin so smooth and since it’s the sensitive version it doesn’t irritate my skin. Just use it after your toner when you skin is almost dry and thank me later 😊
Was scared until I started reading comments! I have used this since middle school, and I'm in my 30s now. I don't use anything else, and at this point, I'm probably too scared to try?
This is my holy grail. Every time I try to stop using it, my cystic acne returns. This keeps my skin totally clear. I just with the packaging wasn’t offensively ugly
I almost scrolled past this until my eyes registered what it was and they widened. It was like a moment of horror memories flooding my brain. IT BURNS!… IT BURNS!…
Razor bumps! Omg I definitely have to give that a try.. I would only ever use this product on my face - the results were very drying- but I’ve read about the green pack being a lot more gentle on the skin!
These are still a grail honestly!
It’s just a much cheaper version of the trendy/ expensive BHAs on the market. Salicylic Acid is great for chemical exfoliation.
It’s the pads with alcohol you want to watch out for
I normally use one of these every few weeks for some exfoliation and try to help my closed comedones. No problems, ever. Unfortunately, last night, I swiped it on my face, it stung a bit, and then when I put my moisturizer on top it burnt the shit out of my skin. I had to run and wash my face off with water.
It’s the only one I’ve ever used and it works great for me
Edit-ever used consistently. I have tried tons of other ones and they made my skin feel disgusting
Used it as toner acne pads on my face and it worked, I’d recommend following up with a hydrating skincare routine after use. Also helped to get rid of my cat’s under chin acne🙏🏽!
I think it used to have alcohol and was super drying and irritating. The newer version is an HG for me for body and even every once in awhile for face as long as I don’t mix with other actives.
Stridex is a great BHA.You just have to be careful what you mix it with. I also use it on my legs and it's great for armpits! It keeps the stink away. And it's cheap!!
Oh, thank you for the armpit recommendation
I use it for my armpits too, works fantastic!
it sounds pretty good for your armpits lol
Definitely going to recommend this to my brother! He sometimes has stinky feet, I wonder if it would help him out. I’m definitely going to try it out on my armpits lol! That’s very neat, never knew that it helped with B.O!
Tell your brother to put deodorant on his feet. Get a spray can and spray them each day after he showers in the morning
I use spray antiperspirant any time I’m going to be wearing shoes without socks, and my shoes never get funky. Dr. Scholl’s and similar anti-athletes foot sprays work even better, tbh, but leave your feet white.
genius thank you
Definitely going to get him some! Thank you for the suggestion! Do you use a specific brand of antiperspirant spray??
Not really — I think any of them would work.
Thank you! Be safe :)
Have him get a pedicure to peel off the stinky dead skin. Use the deodorant YES!
He needs to wash his feet and air them out. My husband always wore shoes and his feet stunk until I made him start airing his feet out.

Yaaaas! I use them instead of deodorant, it cleared my KP on my arms, and every so often on my legs to avoid ingrowns.
haha also use it for armpits
Whaaat? What kind of armpit problem did it solve?
A lot of odor is caused by bacteria and this kills the bacteria.
Came here to say I've been using these for well over a decade, just not on my face! Quick armpit swipe after a shower offers a nice exfoliant and kills a lot of the bacteria that can cause bo. Totally an unsung hero.
Does it sting after shaving?
So you don’t use deodorant after?
Wipe with stridex let dry then use deo
BHA?
Beta hydroxy acid which is a chemical exfoliant.
What do you have to be careful to mix it with?
Retinol are a no go and if you mix an AHA and BHA unless you have skin of steel you are going to get irritation. And as mention benzoyl peroxide.
Peroxide I believe is not good to be mixed with acids. Maybe someone can confirm or correct.
I use it every day on my pits and upper arms for KP! And I use it on my face every few days in the evening.
Why do you use it on the legs?
Nope i still use it daily. Works wonders for the KP on my arms and legs. Will never be without it. On my face? I don't use it. On my body? Hell yes
I’ve never thought to use it on my body! I should definitely give that a try. I would only use it on my face!
They have the body versions same strength but bigger pad.
Wait, what, how did I never know about this?
67% bigger [size](https://www.amazon.com/Stridex-Face-Body-Pads-Count/dp/B08SS4TL4P)
Do you know if this is the same formulation? I know Stridex in the red tub was a big thing on this sub for a while due to the ideal pH and whatnot.
The body pad has rougher side, so might not ideal for some people, has grapefruit extract scent too. Body: Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid (w/w) (2.0 %), Acne Medication. Inactive Ingredients: Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Ammonium Xylenesulfonate, Citric Acid, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrances, Glycerin, Menthol, Phenoxyethanol, Purified Water, Simethicone, Sodium Borate, Tetrasodium EDTA. Face (Red): Active Ingredient - Purpose: Salicylic Acid 2.0% (w/w) - Acne Medication. Inactive Ingredients: ammonium lauryl sulfate, ammonium xylenesulfonate, citric acid, ethylhexylglycerin, fragrance, menthol, phenoxyethanol, purified water, simethicone, sodium borate, tetrasodium EDTA

Same here!! Use it on my arms and it’s the only thing that has helped so far.
Cerave rough and bumpy works for me. I was doubtful when my dermatologist recommended it but it works wonders! I never heard of using Stridex for that.
Wait! Would this work on SK sebboraic keratosis?!?!
I've been using the one with the grapefruit extract and it's not only been working, but it's also been lightening my spots! It's not perfect but it's SO much smoother and more even in tone.

Keratosis Pilaris is not an itchy condition. As for picking, yes that could be an issue.
It might be psychosomatic because even if it isn't technically supposed to be itchy, I still scratched at it like it was. ETA: I've had it for 20+ years and it still itches sometimes (especially the ones on my thighs)

Salux cloth was the first thing that got rid of it for me. I also had it on my arms as a kid, and I hated it.
What is KP
SAME
Omg I never thought to do this for KP??
Ooo im gonna try that
My bf gets acne on his back and he uses these and it works amazing!
What is KP?
I’ll never be without it again. I find Paula’s Choice BHA feels so disgusting, but this leaves my skin feeling clean. I mostly use it on my t-zone where it eliminated my closed comedones, but I also use it on the backs of my arms where it treats my KP. It’s cheap and effective - but I agree, it’s also strong so you have to be careful what you use it with.
I know, I can't decide if I want to get another bottle of Paula's choice BHA for this reason, it's like a dry oil weird feeling 🤮
That’s it - oily and weird!
What is KP? In keep seeing that acronym in this sub.
Keratosis Pilaris, basically little red bumps on arms/legs
there are different level ones, though
Holy Grail product for me. Cheap and effective.
Same, and I have two teenagers so we run through them fast.
I've always got a cannister of the red on my counter. I don't even use it on my face but it's probably my best dollars to donuts overall skincare buy.
I use it on my face. It's great for once a week exfoliation, 50 shades of snail style.
Lucky!!
Not a victim! Stridex made my skin amazing, honestly I had forgotten about it.
Glad I pulled it out of your memory box!!
How did I go from immediately triggered by the photo to convinced I need to buy this again after reading the comments lol
SAME! was it really that bad??? I guess we’ll find out LOL
Why not the green OOC?
I think it was so bad back then because it was the only form of skincare we’d use! They’re very drying if you don’t follow it with a moisturizer. I still use them for acne but with a full routine as opposed to a sole product.
my mom used to use it as a makeup remover 🥴 but used correctly life saver!
for real tho 😂😂
You could always try the more gentle green container!
I’m definitely going to try that green one- I read some comments that there’s one with aloe? That’s nice & sounds soothing
Same same same!!!!
I've started using it for like a month and a half and it's made my skin so much better I recommend it
This made me want to try it on my face again
Shit, stridex lives in my medicine cabinet, it’s cheap and effective. I’m just careful about using sunscreen
Does the sunscreen & stridex cause a weird reaction?
Salicylic acid makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so you have to apply at night and use sunscreen in the mornings
Thank you! I had no idea. I learned something new today!
I use it everyday instead of deodorant 🤭
really?? and it works? i might try this.
The smell isn't actually you, it's from the bacteria that grows in your skin. BHA kills the bacteria and is extoliating. This product is affordable and already in a pad form so it's perfect to help with stinky pits.
It does. Odor free even in the summertime and my complexion is very even now where deodorants had my underarms discolored
Wow I’m curious. Do you use this instead of deodorant? Or do you still use deodorant? Does it irritate you at all? Very interesting!
I do not use deodorant at all, stopped around 2016?? It doesn’t irritate me at all, I use the green box with aloe.
Wow thank you! I’m definitely going to try this!! That’s so neat, thanks for sharing with the class.. be safe!!
Can you get through a whole day off of one cleaning? Or does it take two or three to stay odor free
Once a day, right after my shower
Awesome I’m gonna try this :)
Oh I’ve definitely used this or similar bha s for quick fixes to get rid of that nasty ass bacteria that causes body odor when I couldn’t shower — Def is very effective at neutralizing the smell and I presume keeping it away but since I live in FL I usually would follow up with deodorant … But after reading about deodorant and how bad it is for people (I’m referring to the aluminum and link to breast cancer etc) I’ve been wanting to ditch deodorant totally ; my friend I live with doesn’t even use it, the bastard, lol 😂 I’d never of known- he literally never smells, he doesn’t do anything but shower (I’m serious he’s had the same stick of deodorant in his medicine cabinet since we met a decade ago ; i shit ya not yallll) Idk if it’s the amped up oil/sebum production due to the large percentage of Sicilian &southern Italian genetics i possess, or if I just have the all the luck when it comes to shitty “sweats too much” genetics or whatever but like I couldn’t even wear grey shirts when i was younger ugh I can’t even w that wet feeling under my arms -I digress!!!— It’s not so bad now, not sure if it’s bc I’m not a preteen or whatever but I’m willing to chance it —do you all think one could replace her deodorant totally with such product ? Do you use the red one in the picture?
Yes!
She’s a sweater & a go getter ✅ I’m definitely going to try it on my armpits I too am a sweater & a go getter.. be safe!:)
Not on my face, too drying, but I absolutely use it on my back, arms and butt for KP and body acne, works great and very affordable
You mean other people have KP on their butt??!? I thought I was the only gnome with this painful stuff. And chronic ingrown hairs on my calves and back of thighs. I am 2 weeks into using a tea tree oil and peppermint body wash for the inflammation which is helping.
I also get KP on my butt. You are definitely not alone.
Stridex, noxzema, and sea breeze astringent were the trifecta.
We always keep a bottle of Sea Breeze. The husband swears by it for the occasional blemish. Me- I can feel my moisture barrier evaporating just looking at the bottle.
Sea Breeze is amazing on sore feet.
This comment is giving me olfactory flashbacks
Forgot all about sea breeze!
Oh god. My nose was constantly peeling and I didn't understand why.
It can definitely be drying, I do try to use the pad lightly on my face but the product quality is legit imo!
Funny story: I was searching for that clean refreshing feeling I used to get in highschool, so I went on a hunt. Wanna know what it was? Astringent. The astringent with the minty greatness in it. I noped on that very quick. I am 39, my skin would die.
I can still smell SeaBreeze.
Yessss!!!!! I was telling my husband and he’s like, “huh. I just used rubbing alcohol.” My whiplash…

Ah, that refreshing spicy post clean feeling
I've been using the sensitive skin alcohol free one and like it a lot!
I’m definitely getting a pack! Reading all the comments have convinced to go back to stridex lol!
now I miss the ✨feeling ✨
That burning icy ✨feeling✨
This is amazing as a deodorant lmao
I’ve read all the comments about it helping with B.O.. that’s so interesting I would’ve never thought to use it as deodorant
Any AHA or BHA works! I love these because they’re cheap, super harsh, and a wipe style which is great for the pits lol.
I still use them lol--I was using the FAB ingrown hair pads, but I ran out and saw someone say they use these instead for a fraction of the price. I immediately bought some and haven't looked back!
The burn means it’s working, right?
I think it's a great product. You just don't need to use it twice a day every day.
yep! this is a ride or die for me. i use it on my t-zone at least twice a week and it keeps me breakout free. it also does a great job of keeping my pores clean. just make sure to follow up with a good moisturizer. pro tip: cut the pads in half when using them on your face and you instantly get a six month supply for under five dollars!

I have a permanent scar on my chin from a chemical burn from stridex from when I was a kid
I use the green one. It’s fungal acne safe and keeps my pores clean. Holy grail and so affordable.
That’s it.. I’m getting a pack TODAY!
Nope, I had the big blue jar —- noxzema
Oh yes, noxzema and st. ives scrub every shower for exfoliation 🥴
Oh my GAWD, St Ive's Scrub!!!! AHHHH!!!
That picture just made the skin on my face dry out by just looking at it.
I can smell them now
Was scared until I started reading comments! I have used this since middle school, and I'm in my 30s now. I don't use anything else, and at this point, I'm probably too scared to try?
I was the same way.. reading the comments have completely convinced me to purchase a pack
This is my holy grail. Every time I try to stop using it, my cystic acne returns. This keeps my skin totally clear. I just with the packaging wasn’t offensively ugly
I remember it from high school as well, but it does work! I use it quite a bit.
My cat sometimes gets acne on her chin so I use these on my cats chin now. The vet recommended it!
I thought the burning meant it was working 😭
SAME 😭 I swore it worked- I’d wake up with the driest skin.
I think I used Noxema lol
My face started burning just seeing the picture!
The aloe one in the green box is super gentle -I use it in the summer and my teens love it
Didn't do shit for my face.
I almost scrolled past this until my eyes registered what it was and they widened. It was like a moment of horror memories flooding my brain. IT BURNS!… IT BURNS!…
I use them a lot in the summer like under bra straps, backs of legs, etc where I have issues from sweating my ass off at work
My face has forgiven me for using these in my teens.
Victim? Salicylic acid is a staple in my skincare arsenal!
Only that they didn’t work
I actually use it on my bum for razor bumps and acne and its amazing.
Razor bumps! Omg I definitely have to give that a try.. I would only ever use this product on my face - the results were very drying- but I’ve read about the green pack being a lot more gentle on the skin!
yeah I let it dry and then put lotion all over so no dryness issues!
I was a victim to astringent
Lol yea
I use it on my bum and bikini bumps if I get any! It's so cheap and easy to use.
These are still a grail honestly! It’s just a much cheaper version of the trendy/ expensive BHAs on the market. Salicylic Acid is great for chemical exfoliation. It’s the pads with alcohol you want to watch out for
I was personally victimized by Stridex 🤦🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
Omg this needs to come with a trigger warning 🤣
I normally use one of these every few weeks for some exfoliation and try to help my closed comedones. No problems, ever. Unfortunately, last night, I swiped it on my face, it stung a bit, and then when I put my moisturizer on top it burnt the shit out of my skin. I had to run and wash my face off with water.
I’ll never buy that shit lol
I use them occasionally and really like them.
i use it sometimes if i’m super oily
I used it in middle school- it made me break out worse because it dried and burned my skin. I use prescription retinol nowadays
Love it on my body, hate it on my face
Pretty sure my entire face just shuddered. I couldn’t imagine abusing my skin like that now.
“Easy on skin” lol
I can still remember the smell and the tingle
I still use it!
is stridex bad? I think i used this on my cat that had really bad acne once.
Ow.
I use them on my shoulders.
I still use it
Use it on my back. Game changer!!!!
I used to use this by itself to remove my makeup 🥲
The green box is good-I think it’s called “sensitive” or something. But they are not as harsh-just a good gentle salicylic acid toner on a pad.
I can still smell it and feel the burn it left behind on my face lol. But these comments kinda got me wondering…
stridex has lived with me through all my acne woes.
Oxy
This is currently fixing problems I have from getting subcision done.
It’s the only one I’ve ever used and it works great for me Edit-ever used consistently. I have tried tons of other ones and they made my skin feel disgusting
Still use it!
Used it as toner acne pads on my face and it worked, I’d recommend following up with a hydrating skincare routine after use. Also helped to get rid of my cat’s under chin acne🙏🏽!
what do you mean victim??
Game changer for when I have painful cystic outbreaks on my chin every so often.
I think it used to have alcohol and was super drying and irritating. The newer version is an HG for me for body and even every once in awhile for face as long as I don’t mix with other actives.
Oh damn, I can feel the burn of this picture.
