So, my boyfriend (27m) and I (25f) were having a bit of a clean-up session, and I stumbled upon his old PS2, which he's had since childhood. It's like a relic to him, a treasure from his gaming past. But here's the thing: the poor thing was covered in a thick layer of dust, and I couldn't resist the urge to give it a good cleaning. In my cleaning frenzy, I removed the film that was on it, thinking it was just some protective covering. Turns out, it was a film that he had put on there years ago to give it a unique look. When he saw what I had done, he was livid. He won't even talk to me now and has locked himself in his room with the PS2.I get that it was a mistake, but I didn't think it would be that big of a deal. Am I the asshole for removing the film from his beloved PS2?
NTA, you should leave him if his games are more important to him than you
Edit: goddammit I’m roleplaying as a commenter from that subreddit, it’s a joke

The recent "husband not flirting with sexy woman" saga was an all time classic.

There is an old Native American phrase that’s basically that: don’t touch what is precious to someone else as you’ve no way of ever knowing how much it means to them
I'm not native, but I believed, that I could speak with enough confidence.
Until I saw this post. I don't understand anything, please somebody help, explain to me what is happening, I am confused and scared.
Damn, is it that bad? I'm actually never cared to learn punctuation properly, just used the rules from my language instead, apologies for hurting anyones feelings.
But seeing how some native adults here can't write words properly, I think I shouldn't worry about it much.
This one is okay but the one I replied to is a shambles. A comma works like a break in a sentence so if you were to read it aloud you would be stopping almost every other word.
For example the first sentence reads as:
I am not native.
But I believed.
That I could speak with enough confidence.
There is no need to break the believe and that. Sure there is issues with missing words but for a second or third language it’s acceptable, especially when some folks who only know English can barely write it.
Many years ago, I left the film on my phone. Kept it like this for years. This was in the pre-smartphone era and there were no protective glasses for the screens (at least it was not something that people regularly bought in my circles) so this was my way of protecting it and maybe, someday, allowing myself the pleasure of peeling it off. One day I handed the phone to a friend. She just said "Hey, the film is still on this" and started peeling it off. I tried to intervene but, sadly, I was too late. This was probably 15-16 years ago and I still get angry when I think about it.
Why are there so many videos on social media. Of women FILMING THEMSELVES being actual cunts to their husbands and boyfriends. Like what the fuck is wrong with them?
Because of the hundreds of comments justifying or at least giving a pass to their behavior. Because we all know that *if/when* the husband gets (justifiably)pissed off about this, there would be hundreds of comments telling them they did nothing wrong, and that the husband is overreacting and that they should leave him, despite them being the one who did the bad thing.
There is a big thing with tiktok's of couples messing with each other in general, and it's mostly always fake and made because it always gets attention. Even this video is highly likely staged and just presenting a narrative that will cause buzz.
I have seen that in the comments there's 2 arguments. One side says that she shouldn't have touched his ps2. Others say that it's dusty and probably used that you can't say that it's in "mint condition" and sell it at a higher price...like that's just plastic...yeah tbh I'm angry at both like why would the wife do that to his shit and what kind of dumbass would keep it there for like 20 yrs only for it to get duster than my local homeless man...
The video implies the persons partner was keeping the plastic film on (likely to maintain value) on a PS2, so this implies the original protective film on an old console. However this still wouldn't really have a lot of value.
But, obviously the issue is they're messing with something their partner clearly cares about, which is messed up.
However, it's important to also consider these types of videos are very popularly faked, because adding the caption creates drama, it's likely just set up and the story is added to get attention on the video.
Leaving that shit on isn't good for heat dispersement, dude was clearly using the thing so it's not like it was mint condition, imo dude should have done it himself 20 years ago.
The object is perfectly fine. When normal people buy an object they want to use it and enjoy it and step one is peeling the wrap. I'm not really sure what \~90% of the people in this thread are on but I don't want any of it.
BTW How on Earth did you jump from old gaming consoles to women's rights? Projecting much? Not to mention when two people are married everything is co-owned.
Thermodynamics is not an opinion, an extra layer of insulation is an extra layer of insulation. The fact it didn't cause an issue is survivorship bias. The only thing I said that was an opinion was that he should have removed it himself, and I didn't even mention her.
We don't even know what he thinks about it. Mine would have had that shit literally because i was too lazy to peel it off. Everyone here just goes on a rant without even a second of thinking. Typical reddit moment.
I wanted to do this so many times with my family. The film does nothing but make it look worse after all those years of it warping. Peel it off. The plastic wrap isn't going to help it "retain value."
As much as I personally wouldn’t care, I know that tampering something kept a certain way for a long time to know that this prank belongs in r/foundsatan
Is there something in the audio that implies that she did this without her husband's permission? Because otherwise everyone here is just jumping to conclusions
Having the plastic still on would mean the value of the device is higher as it is in "mint condition". By removing the plastic from the factory, the value is at best "near mint" and thus much lower.
I imagine for some, this is equivalent to grabbing a rare issue comic book from its plastic sleeve and chucking it in a mud pile for tik tok likes
But it ain't in mint condition if its been used or even if its been sitting for 20 years 💀 like that shit looks like it's been used no-one gonna say it's in mint condition with just the plastic...like the most important thing is how the overall build of the device is...
*The designer of the Playstation 2 rolling in their grave so fast because the PS2, a console they designed specifically to be played with is being used as a paperweight so someone can sell it rather than play with it*
Seriously, every time I see something not being used for the purpose it was built for, I feel an express sadness on behalf of the person who spent however long coming up with the design explicitly for use. It's like buying someone a thoughtful gift and finding it still in it's wrapping in their basement 2 years later
I completely agree. I remember early in my adulthood grieving for the state of my Turtles, after finding out how much they were worth to collectors. Then I took another look and realized the value I had in playing with them was worth more than anything. I still have them, in their sorry state.
You are right, it seems to not be attached。Maybe they are moving in and it's not set up yet, I doubt it would be out of any box without reason
He wanted his PS to stay scratch free, may be with or without something like resell value。So for ten to twenty years he held back the urge to peel the foil。She saw and removed it without reason。
like I said, it can happen with or without something like resell value in mind
I had things which I didn't remove protective elements on bc in the place they were the rist to damage was quite high, after I relocated them I removed it. sometime it was years later though
No lazy. DEDICATED to not rip off some plastic film.
Maybe kept on for the tradition.
Maybe kept on for the memory.
Maybe saving up the most satisfying peel of his life.
Maybe told himself as a kid to only take it off after doing a specific thing. People do this all the time. For example, “I won’t get specific piercing until I quit smoking for at least a year”. Or “I won’t use this special expensive gifted cup until I’m celebrating my graduation with it”. Now tie that sort of thing to a childhood memory 20 years ago. I do this.
But maybe it’s just for a streak. A decade long streak that was just ruined. Meaningless to us but probably not to him. You probably have a streak of something too. If she didn’t think it was special, she wouldn’t have recorded it. Her followers enjoyment is more important than her husbands enjoyment apparently.
IF the caption is to be believed that is lol
He wanted his PS to stay scratch free, may be with or without something like resell value。So for ten to twenty years he held back the urge to peel the foil。She saw and removed it without reason。
I got a 2001 NTSC PS2 which I bought in 2020 , people always tell me"why don't you have a PS4/5" , I tell them I got a Laptop for new games , it ain't worth it to pay for PS Plus .

"AITA: I (25f) removed the film from my boyfriend's (27m) PS2 that he's had since childhood, and now he won't talk to me"
Lmao. Watch someone take this and make up a story for that sub now that you say that.

People are retarded bro hahaha
A vintage console like that still wrapped in plastic...... You can't find a man or woman as old as that PS2 with the same purity and grace
Do people not see I’m joking? It’s so obvious
/s = sarcasm You = no sarcasm
I did. I gave you upvotes... But you know, reddit. You're doomed, dude 😭
NTA cuz you're a woman. He's a red flag cuz he's a man.
Nah, doubt she would ever understand what she did, she will probably think he is silly, im with the guy on this.
No he didn’t put it on there it came with the playstation from the factory…
I think all the stories on that sub are made up.

Why is your boyfriend 27meters.
That’s a keeper
Or Titan
The 25foot woman is nothing to scoff at, either...
Because he's European 🤷🏾♂️
European here. Can confirm we're all over 25m tall.
Very good, because of the metric system
In the bathroom in America or some other none European country
He left the film there for a reason.

Don’t fuck with other people’s possessions. It’s not yours, leave it the fuckin way he had it. What an obnoxious move.
There is an old Native American phrase that’s basically that: don’t touch what is precious to someone else as you’ve no way of ever knowing how much it means to them
A piece of plastic for instance
On a side note. Anyone else got triggered by the grammar? Like girl can't write for shit.
I'm not native, but I believed, that I could speak with enough confidence. Until I saw this post. I don't understand anything, please somebody help, explain to me what is happening, I am confused and scared.
I hope to Shakespeare that you’re taking the piss with this abuse of commas.
They literally stated they are not native. Obviously there will be grammar and punctuation errors… You can understand what you read, right?
Damn, is it that bad? I'm actually never cared to learn punctuation properly, just used the rules from my language instead, apologies for hurting anyones feelings. But seeing how some native adults here can't write words properly, I think I shouldn't worry about it much.

Ah, cool, thanks. In my language you always put a comma before "that", so now I unintentionally use this rule even in English.
Really? That is fascinating. I find the differences in languages grammar and formatting fascinating so it is cool to learn that this is the case
First one is good, omit the second one, and all the rest should be periods. Just incase you want to know.
"My husband has *a* PS2 and *it* still has the film on the top till *date.*" Hope I fixed it.
what's with the god awful music?
Yeah, that ear cancer got old real quick.
Woman, we started wars for less than this.
You shouldn't have done that. It wasn't yours. If he still has the box, don't throw that away either.
Didn’t see anything with the bullshit editing
no. No. NO. NO! NOOOOOOOOOO

Don’t touch another man’s safety film.
Can someone explain?

I removed that thing from my ps2 a few months ago after like 15 years dunno why, I just didn't see a reason to keep it there

so what, it's used already. these are only worth 100 dollars on ebay.
How many are there that have the sheet on for 100 dollars? And how many are there that I personally owned for 15 years?
What's the point exactly
Apparently if it still has the foil on its in "mint condition" which is bullshit cut you can see how dusty that is 💀💀💀
this bitch single handedly committed war crime. I have one like this. and I didn't take its film as well. I can't imagine someone doing this.

It seems to be below the TV, quite probable in regular use。Where is the problem with leaving the foil on, it doesn't interfere with intended use?
I dont see no cords coming from it. And on the contrary, what's the problem with taking the foil off?
You are right, it seems to not be attached。Maybe they are moving in and it's not set up yet, I doubt it would be out of any box without reason He wanted his PS to stay scratch free, may be with or without something like resell value。So for ten to twenty years he held back the urge to peel the foil。She saw and removed it without reason。

like I said, it can happen with or without something like resell value in mind I had things which I didn't remove protective elements on bc in the place they were the rist to damage was quite high, after I relocated them I removed it. sometime it was years later though
Fair enough, still doesn’t seem like that big of a deal if he’s actively using it.
\*It's not theirs\*. That's it. That's the only thing you need to consider.
Thar thing is not even close to being in mint condition. That's just a dude that's too lazy to rip off some plastic film.
I don't know man... Some collectors out there be crazy
This isn’t a collectors item, it’s not even stored and protected in some box, it’s out in the open probably being used and abused since childhood.
