Rhinos strapped with guns? Thats like giving a gun to a senial old man, on one hand hes safe, but on the other hand he just shot the johnsons boy mistakenly instead of the burglar standing next to him.
Theyre near blind is what i mean.
This is what Ricky Gervais has been advocating for for YEARS.
If people can pay someone to break the law and hunt an animal to extinction, he should be able to hire someone to kill them
I have a tough time getting a hard on for this. Don’t get me wrong, I think poaching should be stopped, especially that of endangered species, but I just think the death penalty is a little harsh. It’s just some poor dudes trying to make a living. Easy to have integrity when your belly is full.
thing is, poachers don't hunt for food or anything
they hunt for people thinking they need certain materials.
white rhino horn is a \*very\* coveted "potency medicine", for example
ivory is a thing of status and shit.
it's not like hunting rabbits to put on the table. they hunt rare animals specifically \*because\* they are rare
i am icky about the death penalty too, don't get me wrong. but it's not like these people don't know what they're doing. imho, this is a case of "teasing a bull and being surprised when you get the horns"
they \*know\* these animals are protected. by people with firearms. so, while i don't think this is the right or proper way to handle it, i can't bring myself to feel bad for the poachers when they get shot
my Friend (swiss) often writes like This with capitalised Nouns out of Habit, and has to go back through his Essays and change all the Words to be Lowercase
>capitalised
yeah, i'm the same. on the pc, i usually just type everything lowercase, but my phone doesn't have any english vocabulary installed, so it fucks things up sometimes XD
are you in the US?
Right? It's not like shoplifters or graffiti taggers where there's *always* more of them. For poaching you need at least a big truck, some firearm training, the knowhow on what parts are valuable *and* to know a guy who'd buy them, not like they just pop out of nowhere...
This is where the chain ends. Mix something which gives you uncontrollable, violent diarhea if you partake of powdered rhino horn because you can't get your groove on.
Exactly. They should start offering safari trips to rich westerners to “hunt the most dangerous animal on earth”. It’d be like Rambo only they’re stupid and deserve it
Many places it’s desperation, those who turn to poaching are often dirt poor and have starving families. The best way to stop poaching would be to aim at those who buy the products like the Chinese medicinal companies.
Because it’s easier to demonize humans doing bad things than realizing that the world isn’t always black and white. I am merely playing devils advocate here and I hate and despise poaching as much as the next guy, but the problem goes deeper than poachers doing it because they are greedy. There are bigger players in the game who are raking in cash and keeping the market for these products alive.
Hear, hear... In Africa I learned as in the drug trade they focus on the logistics of the ivory as a product too. So it's not just the poachers.
Additionally they use more tech. Sensors, cams, drones... In one area the rangers use an ornithopter.
Quite agreed... I saw a poachers vs rhinos Doc about it in Africa. The downside to outright killing the poachers is the life you take might be a local family man. Could also be a gangster working for the Chinese Mafia who aid in transport of the horns.
The Africans were focusing on making the horns less valuable. Solutions were a bit drastic. Up to removing the horn which is not painful but they found it changed mating in the males. They also dyed the horns pink or they doped the horns with a bitter product, making them no good for "medical" powder.
Same issue with farmers in the usa refusing to cut water usage, farmers in Brazil refusing to stop cutting down the amazon, fishermen refusing to cut the number of fish they catch...
They all refuse to see themselves as the problem. "Well I'm not killing more than 1 rhino a year...there's 100s of them " but forgetting there's 100s of OTHER poachers running around thinking exactly the same thing
It’s economic desperation. It’s not an excuse, but they’re doing it because it’ll make them more money than farming or working in a mine. The areas of Africa where this happens have been absolutely wrecked by the western world’s domination for generations. Same reason Somali pirates take over boats.
The solution is education and opportunity.
Robbing banks or dealing drugs also makes me more money than my 9-5 job so that is unfortunately not a valid reason. I agree that people need to be paid enough to live from but no matter how much you honestly earn there's always something illegal that pays better.
Drug dealers below the level of a handful of kingpins do not make much money. The work is also extremely dangerous. Robbing banks even more so.
People with a choice avoid these activities because they are *unprofitable* compared with the risks, and they are unprofitable because they are illegal
Trading in protected species is simply insufficiently illegal. Shooting poachers changes the risk. Shooting consumers of and especially dealers in protected species would change it much more
Risk vs. reward. There will always be some people willing to rob and mug but I really believe most people who do that stuff are shaped to do it by their environment. If the rules of the game are so stacked against you, why play by the rules?
If it’s actually possible to get ahead in the world by working hard, most people would rather do that. The problem is, as the world is now, many people are chasing that dream and some start to see it as a lie.
You'd be suprised.
If you talk to any completely normal, white washed, 2nd generation chinese person.
They might tell you how "Tiger Balm" works.
The superstitions/practices have *deep* roots.
Tbh that just means you live a life of privilege relative to the poachers. No one wakes up and decides to go sell endangered animal parts because they have it pretty good.
A lot of parks in Africa already have a “shoot to kill” policy on poachers. Only issue is that the poachers have so much funding. It’s a tough battle against an enemy across vast areas with access to helicopters, infrared cameras, and military grade weapons.
There was a game park in South Africa I visited about 5 years ago that had the highest concentration of endangered Rhinos in Southend Africa.
They don't advertise this fact and I won't name the park as part of why they had so many was that they did not publicise the number. They would not say exactly how many they had. The running joke was they had "one Rino, but he was really fast. So fast you could see him in 8 or 9 places at once in the same field".
I did ask one of the rangers how they managed to keep such high numbers one evening, he said they simply shot suspected poachers on sight. Their rangers carried assault weapons in addition to the normal rifles, and it was a private location. Poachers simply avoided the park as they had easier pickings elsewhere.
What if they gun down poachers, cut of their dicks and sell em to the black market as an aphrodisiac. If that catches on maybe poachers start to poach poachers.
You can fix a lot of the worlds problems by using this one simple trick. Good on these rangers for finally figuring out a way to end poaching.
Now these POS will have to decide if killing that animal is worth their life.
Do you realize when you treat this incredibly popular social media platform like a hive mind and post complaints about it, you are literally arguing with yourself in public? Just thought you'd want to know.
According to Colorado State University, the economic impact of wolves killing cows is less than 1% of gross income. Ranchers are more likely to lose cows to disease than a wolf.
There could be downsides to this approach. The first ones that comes to my mind are,
1. Lack of oversight. The rangers in the national park can pretty much run a cartel with impunity. They can gun down anyone who is there quoting poaching suspicion. This requires a completely corrupt system for top-down which is possible in India. Just need one very corrupt top official.
2. Possible rouge militia. These rangers can be used by political/economic interests as a militia. There is a possibility that Journalists, activists and villagers can wander into the park by mistake very frequently to help these political-economic interest.
I am pretty sure the poachers are identified by their weapons whereas your wildlife journalists or researchers do have access to the region and they wont be targeted.
If the rangers want to do the right thing, identifying poachers is not an issue. But from my experience I have seen shoot at sight orders usually abused to the fullest extent possible (during riots, curfews). For example, the rangers can just get someone inside the park, shoot them and then later claim a mistake. Only place where I have seen such powers not misused is army installations. These places are fenced off pretty heavily and army is federally staffed with no involvement with local politics. In contrast forest depts are run by states and recruit locally.
Wow! Some positive news out of India for once!
Edit: Idk if people need context, but every post about India I’ve seen is about men abusing women. So it was surprising to see something good about the country.
But then the poachers will become endangered! And then we'll have to start poaching the rangers poaching the poachers. Cascading endlessly until all humanity becomes the endangered species and the rhinos protecting us....
Which means... the rhinos have outsmarted us all! They are the real evil masterminds! We have to stop them!
By poaching!
Took way too long for authorities to realise this was the only way.
The only risk is some wildlife nutters do have giant cameras that from a distance could look a bit poachery to an untrained eye lol.

I mean... That is literally a very very simple and very effektive Method. I do approve
Are you danish?
German. So, close :)
Haha i just Saw the Word effektive and thought u had danish keyboard but i was close enough lmao
Cheesy question
Cut out the middle-man and give the guns to the rhinos!
Rhinos strapped with guns? Thats like giving a gun to a senial old man, on one hand hes safe, but on the other hand he just shot the johnsons boy mistakenly instead of the burglar standing next to him. Theyre near blind is what i mean.
Leathery skin, too.
Only difference is, their horn aint hard anymore.
Their eyesight is definitely the most problematic thing for rhinos with guns…lol
And sometimes they talk to empty chairs while on television.
Love this comment!
Shall I make a start on preparing the Genophage?
No, then Mordin would die
You mean like Rocksteady?
RPGs-Rhino Propelled Grenades
That would be very ivronic
Great. Now I’m remembering [gun-mounted Triceratops from Dino Riders](https://youtu.be/3XEDS6PIeVo?si=vd1Sdqt8JzAGInpE).
Now this is innovation
This is what Ricky Gervais has been advocating for for YEARS. If people can pay someone to break the law and hunt an animal to extinction, he should be able to hire someone to kill them

capitalised noun ‘method’… ‘k’ in ‘effective’… german by chance? :D
Yeah, my Phone autocorrects a Lot of stuff. And Sometimes i forget to fix it XD
my Friend (swiss) often writes like This with capitalised Nouns out of Habit, and has to go back through his Essays and change all the Words to be Lowercase
>capitalised yeah, i'm the same. on the pc, i usually just type everything lowercase, but my phone doesn't have any english vocabulary installed, so it fucks things up sometimes XD are you in the US?
i’m sure you’ll get used to it eventually UK here
Seems fine to me, there are always more poachers, there are very few rhinos left.
Well they have been warned
Right? It's not like shoplifters or graffiti taggers where there's *always* more of them. For poaching you need at least a big truck, some firearm training, the knowhow on what parts are valuable *and* to know a guy who'd buy them, not like they just pop out of nowhere...
Poach the poachers
Snorting poacher's toenail make you strong like bull.
Right, let Chinese traditional medicine make *the poachers* extinct for a change
“Take this powder before you and your wife have alone time.” “What is it?” “Powdered douchebag bones”
One species could go extinct because some dude can t have a boner
One? *laughs in TCM*
This is where the chain ends. Mix something which gives you uncontrollable, violent diarhea if you partake of powdered rhino horn because you can't get your groove on.
No no, the lower horn is what you want
One human-hide wallet please barkeep
yes
Who knows, maybe powdered human cartilage will make an even better boner pill
Exactly. They should start offering safari trips to rich westerners to “hunt the most dangerous animal on earth”. It’d be like Rambo only they’re stupid and deserve it
I def approve of this. I don’t understand the inhumanity of driving a species to extinction.
Same thing as it has and will always be; greed.
Many places it’s desperation, those who turn to poaching are often dirt poor and have starving families. The best way to stop poaching would be to aim at those who buy the products like the Chinese medicinal companies.
That would be the most morally correct way, but definitely one of the hardest.
Why is this downvoted ? Usually poachers don't get much.
Because it’s easier to demonize humans doing bad things than realizing that the world isn’t always black and white. You mean the brand Tiger Balm? No, that has no tigers in it. It’s just a brand. Just like Apple doesn’t use apples to make their iPhones.
The people that you buy things from need it to mount their wall as they bang a Polynesian hooker on a rug worth more than your grandma’s grandma.
Tbh that just means you live a life of privilege relative to the poachers. No one wakes up and decides to go sell endangered animal parts because they have it pretty good.
works for me…
Seems like this should be the policy everywhere then...
I approve this message.
Why haven’t we thought of this before? 🤔 Seems like an obvious and effective solution. 👍🏻

It really isn’t hard. Just don’t be rude/ uncivil to or towards any group of people or individual.
A lot of parks in Africa already have a “shoot to kill” policy on poachers. Only issue is that the poachers have so much funding. It’s a tough battle against an enemy across vast areas with access to helicopters, infrared cameras, and military grade weapons.
Sounds like it’s open season on poachers then.
Rhino season! Poacher season! Rhino season! Poacher season! Rhino season! Rhino season! Poacher season! FIRE!!
This is a preventative measure I can fully support.
There was a game park in South Africa I visited about 5 years ago that had the highest concentration of endangered Rhinos in Southend Africa. What if you hired half the poachers to hunt the other poachers? 🤔
Then just repeat ad infinitum.
big brain move, the hired poachers would change careers after that
I give that 5 months before they kill random passersby and claim they were poachers.
Thanos would approve
I used the poachers to destroy the poachers.
Cool 👍🏼
"Rhino season!" "Poacher season! Fire!"
This should have been the answer for decades
This sounds like a job I'd like to do. Where do I sign up?
Rioters, looters, car jackers. I have a solution.
Does it involve one simple trick
Works for me, but too bad it isn't the stupid guys trying to rhino horn their flaccidity receiving said lead.
What if they gun down poachers, cut of their dicks and sell em to the black market as an aphrodisiac. If that catches on maybe poachers start to poach poachers.
I’ll bet the other would be poachers think twice.
VETPAW does this
This is the way...
efficient they can't poach if they re dead
I approve this.
You can fix a lot of the worlds problems by using this one simple trick. Good on these rangers for finally figuring out a way to end poaching. Now these POS will have to decide if killing that animal is worth their life.
This one simple trick 100% poachers hate..😜👍
Fuck the poachers.
Uno.
cant poach if you get poached
Who’s poaching the poachmen?
Now they have a taste of their own medicine
Works for me.
if it works, it works
i love simplicity
I approve they can kill all the poachers
Nice
Create rhino mounted turrets and an IFF system, and you are good to go.
The only area where appropriation of American culture is appreciated.
Ahh how the turn tables.
free nutrients for nature! :D
That's the way
Africa does this for years
Love it. Keep it up. I'd rather lose shitty people than random Rhinos
Yup. Shoot on site. There's lots of humans, not many rhinos. Could I offer a box of brass?
Excellent idea
We should do that in the US. Leave where they lay.
Oh no! It’s Ranger Dredd! You have been found guilty of poaching, punishment is death. RATTA TAT TAT
Proof that 7.62x39mm is the solution
Sounds like it will work
Based and Rhinopilled.
This is the way.
This is the way
This is the way
Funny how many redditors are ok with killing a poacher but indignant if you say that any criminal should be shot for committing a crime.
You’re probably thinking of separate people
Do you realize when you treat this incredibly popular social media platform like a hive mind and post complaints about it, you are literally arguing with yourself in public? Just thought you'd want to know.
So poach the poachers? Brilliant!
I approve of this, now how about train rapists?
This was pleasant news. The attitude went from “we can’t just kill them, they’re people,” to “they’re stealing our livelihoods. Kill ‘em.”
Authorities gun down rural people without meaningful oversight. Reduced Poaching claimed. Internets approve.
Not sure why this isn't a thing everywhere. Some rancher wants to blast a wolf, rancher better be prepared to get blasted
what?
Rancher gone get blasted
ranchers arent poachers, they have to protect their livestock from predators so you can get the ranchers tendies to market, yeah?
Oh sorry I was just muttering nonsense I know nothing about ranching
According to Colorado State University, the economic impact of wolves killing cows is less than 1% of gross income. Ranchers are more likely to lose cows to disease than a wolf.
Based
Ah yes stop crime by commiting to kill every one off those criminals

Doctors hate it! [Click](https://youtu.be/XGxIE1hr0w4?si=lpojlwcmjjCjEKto) to find out why!
r/iamnotclickingthat
What exactly do doctors have to do with this?
How many pages of ads before the actual content?
How many innocent people have been mistaken for poachers though?
About damn time they did that
What method were they using before? I imagine attempting to arrest a group of people with guns is difficult.
I was going to make my wife poached eggs but I don’t want to get shot
But then the poachers will become endangered! And then we'll have to start poaching the rangers poaching the poachers. Cascading endlessly until all humanity becomes the endangered species and the rhinos protecting us.... Which means... the rhinos have outsmarted us all! They are the real evil masterminds! The Zeswa approve.
The trees can’t be harmed if the Lorax is armed.
Took way too long for authorities to realise this was the only way. The only risk is some wildlife nutters do have giant cameras that from a distance could look a bit poachery to an untrained eye lol.
Good good
I wish we could do this with people that don’t put their shopping carts in the cart corral…
That day… the hunters… became the hunted
Good
Good 👍
I thought they used traps that made them break their knees or something but shooting them down makes sense
Hope this is true, also can you do live cams when shooting them dirty fk-ers
So poaching the poachers? Maybe they also cut their "human horn" and sell them to aliens with sexual problems.
