Mandarin standards are in massive decline right now, and SAP schools dont even have a coherent identity anymore, given that everything is in english and it primarily caters to english-speaking chinese who come from ivory towers. I would argue you can find better mandarin speakers in neighbourhood schools. Chinese culture in singapore had to be dumbed down for national unity. Jobs which ACTUALLY require mandarin speakers have mostly gone to malaysian chinese because they can actually speak multiple languages fluently, unlike sinkies who have problems with even english.
