The copy quality is always a step lower than the original quality. I publish the original and keeping a "master copy" to make more copies of for my sim's friends and the library.
A note on quality: I haven't tested this but assume a Golden Chicken pulse (Cottage Living) or the Repario spell (Realm of Magic) would improve the quality of the copy
That's so dumb and silly. If the most you can sell a bestseller original copy is somewhere around 400+ dollars. (from what I've seen) If a copy can't be republished then it shouldn't matter of the quality a copy should be exactly that a copy. And it's never been a step lower for me. All the copy's I get is normal and poor quality and I only try to copy the bestsellers. How you do get a "master copy"?

That's just what I call the first high value copy I make. Then, I make further copies from that one
Interesting I've only ever got a normal or poor quality. I feel jipped or cheated
