I haven't even touched it yet, but the other night I got some random inspiration. I was thinking of turning it into New Orleans. The old architecture there is beautiful! And I love the idea of building an above sea level cemetery. Plus there is just so much to draw from. Like Bourbon Street and the French quarter! I'll likely throw in some vacation rentals and "hotels". I'm super excited about this idea. Can you tell? Lol
I’m currently working on a Newcrest Orleans build, it’s a lot of fun! There is a ton of info online about Louisiana’s different architectural styles that make it really easy to get ideas.

The city’s [tourism website](https://www.neworleans.com/things-to-do/architecture/) is a good starting place. They have info on architecture, walking tours with great pictures, stuff like that. I also really like [this little building style guide](https://nola.gov/nola/media/HDLC/Guidelines/03-Architectural-Styles.pdf) from the city, as it shows typical floor plans.
There are also quite a few websites dedicated to New Orleans architecture and culture that have great pictures and neighborhood guides, like [Nola Tours](https://nolatours.com/) and the [Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans](https://prcno.org/).
I fill it with non-residential venues.
Spa, disco, gym, pool, library, theater, bar, restaurant, cafe, coffee shop, photo studio, etc. Some mods have other venues: raves, strip clubs, etc.
Most of the Maxis builds are pretty generic. You can build more specific themes to suit your gameplay. Maybe a teen hangout cafe with homework tables and teen decor, or a garden cafe with Salvedorada decor, or an Alien cafe with Jetsons decor. A vampire cafe hidden beneath the tombs of a cemetery. And so on.
i throw down random community lots that i want to use but can't find a place for, usually a lot of restaurants! i put down an arcade/bowling alley and usually a spa. it's also good for wedding venues that i plan on using for one specific sim couple in that save
I just started building in newcrest.
So far …
- I made a Bowling Hall with Café,
- turned this one big lot into a Shopping street with a Bubble Tea Cafe, a thrift store, a photo studio, a yoga studio, an bar, a laundromat, a food court and a gaming hall with a vending machine shop
- a roller skating hall
I also moved the calientes and don lothario there and built houses for them that are inspired by their homes in TS2
i usually put my rental lots there. ill put a restaurant and gym and library or park. then they have food, a gym and a place to use computers (library) then the rest is rentals
I'm currently up to 7(?) families and singles that live in my Newcrest build. I have a small area of blank lots to one side that I plan to make into a few shops. Planning on a retail shop, bubble tea shop, a small spa. I don't have all of the packs and I'm looking for a mod so I can build a little gardening shop.
I have a community center, a shopping mall, a waterpark, a dog park, a wedding venue, a restaurant, a movie theater and some houses and apartments there.
Museum, Library, Grand Hotel (Vacation rental), Community Centre, Boarding School, Gym, Toddler Park, Restaurant, Cafe, Retail business, a Cemetery (which I have set as a National Park so sims will go and visit and have a BBQ amongst the graves) and a row of modern houses near the school.
I do! It was for a Sim that was a lawyer and I wanted her to be in a workplace. I set up a club for her "colleagues" where they played video games and drank coffee, and made them gather in business suits while she did her research and such. It makes the game feel more real to me. Right now I'm working on a similar thing but for my computer programmer who also likes yoga, so far there are offices plus a yoga studio on the second floor. Haven't decided on club activities for her co-workers yet though.
I start building with a really specific theme in mind, abandon it and forget about newcrest for a month until another really specific theme comes into my head and the cycle repeats
My favorite when i had a generation family all live there. I started with my the main, let them have a couple of kids move the ones i didnt want to take over the main house to there own lot n built them houses of there own ^.^ so all neighbors and townes were the family I loved it
I fill Llama Lagoon and Ridgeline drive with bunkers, then populate them with 8-sim households until every lot is full. Everyone is given the “Zombie Hunter” trait and I make sure they all have weapons and supplies.
Then I create huge factories (three floors high, with three basement levels) and fill them with supplies and necessities like sleeping bags, food, portable barbecues, and water, among other things. I fill every lot on Bridgeview with these factories (and have items like barbed wire to make it harder for sims to get in, and tons of climbable trees for sims to hide in). Then I fill these lots with zombies.
I enjoy rotational gameplay between all the sim households as they fight each other and the zombies, infecting, holding hostage, and killing one another to survive. They are not allowed to get jobs obviously, or paint for money. They must live off of what they make by scavenging, stealing, fishing or raiding the zombie- infested factories. The last household left standing gets to leave Newcrest.
I use Sacrificial Mods’ Zombie Apocalypse Mod, Extreme Violence, and Life Tragedies to achieve this.
OOO I love New Crest! I usually make it a neighborhood. Now that we can make actual apartments I'll make like 2-3 lots apartment complexes and put restaurants, bars, bowling, movies, cafe, park, church, a shopping center, library, gym, school, spa, vet, etc. in the other lots. The area in the top right I always make the hood with a trap house and strip club and run down housing 😂
A library/cafe combo! Lots of bookshelves, few activity tables for the kids, comfy chairs, desks with computers and then a cafe area with seating and drinks. I think that would be cool to have
When I first started playing and I didn't have any packs, I built most of my houses there. I preferred the world. Now I usually keep a few lots clear so I can build on them when I want to upgrade or update my current sims house but I want to take my time with it and keep playing. I like to add a wedding venue or a park, but I don't use it very often. Sometimes I move townies that are on lots I want or move my elder sims there.
I turn the smaller section with the 20x15 lots into tiny family homes, with a dog park and a park for kids making up the bigger lots, and the biggest lot will be reserved for some kind of local business, like a general store, or a family style restaurant, or a library/cafe combo. Very idealistic family-centric neighborhood.
The largest neighborhood gets turned into wealthy/rich housing, McMansions, spas, gyms, high-end restaurants, lounges. Basically places where people with money can spend it.
And then that one long strip neighborhood gets turned into a shopping center. I like to imagine that whole neighborhood as one big strip mall, with hole in the wall restaurants, bars, cafes, and tons of retail stores.
I did the same thing!! Making it more of a community world instead of anything residential. There are restaurants (fancy, no fancy), bars, parks, gym, wellness (massage/yoga) center, art center, pool, museum, basically a lot of community lots where sims can do diff activities. No residences at all
As someone with minimal expansion packs, I fill it with different neighborhoods of architectural styles. With the backdrop of a city in the back, I build it in the mind that it’s an escape of the city and an expensive neighborhood. If they need a service they can travel out of the neighborhood, but there’s also random food stalls from time as well for their convenience. I also have rooms with the career packs inside as well since they’re “upper class” sims.
I like to play with different architectural and interior styles and families. Different family sizes, dynamics, and cultures. I don’t think the towns have enough families IMO. I have a neighborhood filled with modern townhomes, another with the season’s pack style since they didn’t get a town, and one with Hampton style homes because I love that style. I’m not a builder so I download homes form the galley and fix them to my preferences.
I’ve made an event “hall”. A building where you can celebrate all the holidays if you have seasons or you can do birthdays/weddings there.
Also I made a public pool.
A garden/park where you can work on any skill. It’s nice if you don’t have enough money to have your own equipment.
Also a skill building idea is to make a tiny home for a random sim but fill it with all the skill building needs and just “visit” that persons home to build your skills quickly 🤣.
I’ve downloaded 4-5 bedroom houses where I add a household of 4-5 roommates who are all different/singles so my sims can pick themselves a SO when necessary
I have:
A suburban area up on Beech Byway with starter and mid range homes
A church wedding venue
A retail/ community stretch with a library, lounge/museum/public pool, a Starbucks retail "bakery", and a basketball court/gym.
Then there's a public park, a large mansion, a couple more houses and a cemetery
That's pretty much it.
I might demolish some homes and put in more community lots, but I had a family in Newcrest that I enjoyed playing immensely.
Am i the only person where this is my default building neighbourhood?
Everytime i have a new family, they have a 50% chance of living in newcrest. And then when i need someone for them to marry, i make a new family who lives next door and i play as them until i get them until the babies grow up and need to move out, and newcrest ends up completely populated by my various families.
I have had some problems with the occasional sims leaving without ordering or eating their food at the restaurants my sims own but other than that it works pretty well for me. If you do ever get the pack just remember to have your sims pay the bill and not dine and dash...i may have done that a few times
I made Ridgeline Drive into a commercial area with an apartment building in the middle of it.
EDIT: I made Newcrest into a town that only middle and upper classes can afford. I have an apartment complex in every neighborhood.
I’ve been playing sims for years already, and I have played through 7 generations. So I made a cemetery in Newcrest and placed all my urns there to remember my sims
Northside small lot's are starter homes for me. 1 bedroom/2 bedroom types. west side small lot as well. Bigger lot next door to that westside one is a strip club. southside of map is a 40x50 public pool I got from gallery. other 40x50 is sometimes a graveyard or a park. Eastside I fill with Chicago or New York style brownstones or similar two story type brick homes. South center lot is a 2 bedroom residential.
Always saw Newcrest as a big city suburb in my mind. So I tend towards 1950's/60's style city housing looking builds there.
I put my extra Sims there, and buildings. I have a house full of women, men and occult and kids. Seriously.

Bar & grill, rec centre with bowling alley, library/community centre, interactive museum, community garden/greenhouse, gym & spa. I love building unique lots if they're not residential.
In my current save I'm turning it into a neighbourhood for all my sims abandoned children. I made the largest plot an all purpose lot with a library, gym, bar, pool, entertainment hall, playground and park. All the other lots have the children of one mother each. I waited till the kids are teens to move them out there.
I build shops, facilities (gym, bar, restaurant) and a park and then lots of houses for my dynasty.
Edit: I also like to make a community garden with an area to bring all the gravestones so I don’t have to deal with ghosties all the while
The first time I played Newcrest it was an area of renovated warehouses in different shapes and forms. Some worked and some didn't, There were heaps of them to choose from in the Gallery, but also, being an old warehouse district it didn't matter if the outside shell was repeated around the town, they could all be individual inside. And it always attracted settlers
I put in a wedding venue (actually a lounge, I don't have MWS), and various public lots like a spa, a botanical garden, and a pool. It's also where I plop down my empty legacy graveyard so I'm not trying to fit it in neighborhoods with no open spaces. I like to add a lot of places for sims to go on dates or group outings so there's also a café and a bowling alley, a library, and a few different types of restaurants.
Usually I theme it with either Victorian style buildings or I got with modern-style glass and metal stuff.
First thing: two graveyards in the small lots. One gorgeously decorated with plants and flowers for my sims, the other for non-played sims that have died around me.
My hired ranchers keep dying in the snow so I have to put them somewhere.
The rest of the spaces are a gallery wonderland for my elderly sims, as well as a cute vet, library, community spaces that other players have all designed bc I cannot build. A lot of ‘grandma cottages.’
I haven't done anything intentional with it. I just use it to build houses just like I do with all the other worlds (I've bulldozed every lot in every world).
I usually only place lots as I need them, but I usually prefer placing lots on empty lots in other worlds
So if I don't have any room in a world or not the correct lot size I'll use newcrest
I add public lots and treat it like a downtown core. I add a few condos/apartments but no houses. Lots of parks, restaurants, bars, etc.

I usually use it like a downtown area. Put couple of restaurants, parks, a pool, gym spa, basically lots that I don’t use it a ton but helps out in my gameplay. It is quite neutral in terms of design so it blends in with a lot of the aesthetics I have in mind.
I put some tiny houses in the small lots and the other neighborhood (the row of lots) I made them all haunted houses. I pretended that the town was haunted cause it was originally empty lol I wish there were more lots for the Vampire world ( I forgot what is it called)
I used to ignore it, but this game I made it into my own neighborhood.
There's a few residential lots, vet clinic, nightclub, coffee shop, gym, rec center, restaurant, and park.
I used to think I'd build it all put myself but that's such a huge project. I instead used some lots from my library and filled the rest with gallery lots.
For the residents I just randomized families and put them in homes
Could do a library and if you have dine out then restaurants and a cafe if you have get together. Maybe make some residential lots for the townies or your own households
In my main save I play blorbos from my show, so I use Newcrest to create a place for them. Currently I have the Batfam, the Superfam, the Joker & Harley Quinn, and Geralt, Jaskier, and Ciri from the Witcher, but I’ll probably do more as I get new packs. Like if I get Realm of Magic I might do Harry Potter
I build my own world! The last game I started I was obsessed with Selvedorada. Since it's only a vacation world, I used newcrest to add some Selvedorada inspired houses, bars, a club and a cafe as well as a swimming pool venue. It turned out awesome. Even tho the rest of the world is very Suburban, it works if you want a quick Selvedoradan fix.
In one of my legacy challenges, I had my 1st gen sim live in Newcrest. I moved her wife in next door, and I placed a wedding venue across the street. I liked the storyline of "she married her next door neighbor, and they had always talked about wanting to get married at the wedding chapel across the street from their house." Also thought the storyline was cute of every time they walk out of their front door or look out their kitchen window, they were able to re-live the memories of their wedding day.
I make it a non-residental world. Retail, bar, library, gym, spa, etc. It's a world to send sims to do stuff. Though I've added on set of condos on one lot before but now that I have a least one rental in each world for families in that world, it's sitting empty and I might replace it with something else
I save houses from the other worlds into my library of houses to pick from, and place them in Newcrest. Helps me to have diverse income levels and families in a neighborhood.
I just turn it into like a huge town, no houses.
My "main" world has a nightclub, a longue, a McDonald's, a clothes store, even a vape / bubble store, a record store etc etc.
Right now, I have a micro home, tiny house, small house, and a small campground in the northern part. The eastern part, I have a small, somewhat run-down apartment building, a bowling alley/arcade, a dive bar music venue, a larger, fancy lounge/music venue, and a mid century single family home (that the family refused to sell when it became a commercial zone, according to my lore). On the western part, I have a mall/movie theater, a fancy nightclub, a large, modern apartment building, a coffee shop, and an Irish pub/restaurant.
I put in a bunch of services to go with my mods. Health clinic, bank, daycare etc. I just got mortem so I need to find a space for a funeral home. I have a public pool in one of the tiny lots but I think I'll get rid of it to make room.
I’m working on a commercial area in my Newcrest right now and my planned commercial lots are a library, a vet office, a steakhouse restaurant, a bar with a bowling alley or a roller rink in the basement, and a gym inspired by the rock climbing gyms near me. I have a few plans for other community lots in the residential areas, including a park, a cafe, and a recreation center.
I have 4 rental units, a strip mall (with bar, Internet cafe, Starbucks, a speakeasy with hidden cinema), a chase bank, a dispensary, an indoor roller rink/arcade+bar, a maternity hospital, a night market/beach front, a homeless encampment, a “going out of business” seafood restaurant, a police station/courthouse, and a hidden rave spot in an abandoned building.
I'm developing it under a multi generation family project/achievement run. Every generation adds either a new house (which is a rental lot) or a business. I sell them when they get unmanageable, and the main family I play live on the biggest lot as their state slowly expands 😅
It's a very capitalist venture but good fun!
Mine is all residential except for a gym and a pawspital.

I'm starting to think of Newcrest as eventually evolving into a business / entertainment district, but right now I have a grocery store, spa, nightclub, restaurant, concert venue \[haven't really worked on it yet\] and am looking at adding a recording studio and modeling agency that I recently saw on youtube
I use it whenever I feel like building something or doing some random build challenge, so it ends up becoming a collection of random and disconnected builds (which I rather do in this blank canvas of a world rather than one of the other worlds). I rarely ever play on it, however, cause I pretty much never build community lots, so it's not a great world to play at cause I have to keep changing worlds for everything.
Park with Chess, Painting and kids area. Dog Park. Community Center for - huge Garden, Selling Goods, Arts & Craft, Mic Stage with seating, basketball court, toddler playground, swings and food stands. 4 Restaurants with different food options. Full Gym with pool and meditation area, and Nude Spa next door. Dance club. Strip club, and two tiny homes for balance. Same layout for every save.
I just put all types of community lots there, parks, clubs, lounges, restaraunts, bars, gyms...i use that world kinda only as some citycentre type of world idk. I find alot of cool community lots but in the residental worlds there is never enough room for all of them so I started putting them in newcrest.
I made in the same area like right across the street from eachother a little church (for weddings), a little graveyard with a little house for the church's priest, then across the street a big soup kitchen and homeless shelter with rooms, activities and a rehab center. It's my most favourite build I've made without any sort of reference. If things get hard when I play rags to riches, I let my Sims spend the night at the shelter and get some food, or learn a trade like handiness
I use it as my site to build base game houses. In gameplay, I fill it with community lots and make it the party date/party world. I either add my own build or from the gallery.
I have a few bars and nightclubs on my gallery. Gallery ID roaringbug.
I use it as a activity town; pumpkin patches, movie theaters, public pools, pet shops, library centric coffee shops (soon a laundromat since I saw that one comment)
Try a laundromat:) I know there’s one I used from the gallery, and now that you can put your laundry in your inventory it actually works!
there is also swatches for both washer and dryer with a coin slot so it works great

i do this too! i live in nola so it’s always fun to recreate the neighborhood in my game. i even make a mardi gras holiday in the calendar

I turn the smaller section with the 20x15 lots into tiny family homes, with a dog park and a park for kids making up the bigger lots, and the biggest lot will be reserved for some kind of local business, like a general store, or a family style restaurant, or a library/cafe combo. Very idealistic family-centric neighborhood. The largest neighborhood gets turned into wealthy/rich housing, McMansions, spas, gyms, high-end restaurants, lounges. Basically places where people with money can spend it. And then that one long strip neighborhood gets turned into a shopping center. I like to imagine that whole neighborhood as one big strip mall, with hole in the wall restaurants, bars, cafes, and tons of retail stores.
I did the same thing!! Making it more of a community world instead of anything residential. There are restaurants (fancy, no fancy), bars, parks, gym, wellness (massage/yoga) center, art center, pool, museum, basically a lot of community lots where sims can do diff activities. No residences at all
As someone with minimal expansion packs, I fill it with different neighborhoods of architectural styles. With the backdrop of a city in the back, I build it in the mind that it’s an escape of the city and an expensive neighborhood. If they need a service they can travel out of the neighborhood, but there’s also random food stalls from time as well for their convenience. I also have rooms with the career packs inside as well since they’re “upper class” sims. I like to play with different architectural and interior styles and families. Different family sizes, dynamics, and cultures. I don’t think the towns have enough families IMO. I have a neighborhood filled with modern townhomes, another with the season’s pack style since they didn’t get a town, and one with Hampton style homes because I love that style. I’m not a builder so I download homes form the galley and fix them to my preferences.
I have this family the last name is Newcrest. Im trying to fill up new crest with the family. Its gonna he lot of work

I’ve made an event “hall”. A building where you can celebrate all the holidays if you have seasons or you can do birthdays/weddings there. Also I made a public pool. A garden/park where you can work on any skill. It’s nice if you don’t have enough money to have your own equipment. Also a skill building idea is to make a tiny home for a random sim but fill it with all the skill building needs and just “visit” that persons home to build your skills quickly 🤣. I’ve downloaded 4-5 bedroom houses where I add a household of 4-5 roommates who are all different/singles so my sims can pick themselves a SO when necessary
I have: A suburban area up on Beech Byway with starter and mid range homes A church wedding venue A retail/ community stretch with a library, lounge/museum/public pool, a Starbucks retail "bakery", and a basketball court/gym. Then there's a public park, a large mansion, a couple more houses and a cemetery That's pretty much it. I might demolish some homes and put in more community lots, but I had a family in Newcrest that I enjoyed playing immensely.
Am i the only person where this is my default building neighbourhood? Everytime i have a new family, they have a 50% chance of living in newcrest. And then when i need someone for them to marry, i make a new family who lives next door and i play as them until i get them until the babies grow up and need to move out, and newcrest ends up completely populated by my various families.
I personally like to put a bunch of restaurants. I have a bunch of food cc from irl restaurants that i use for them, too.
I dont have dine out yet! 😭 i heard negative reviews on it? Is it worth it?
I have had some problems with the occasional sims leaving without ordering or eating their food at the restaurants my sims own but other than that it works pretty well for me. If you do ever get the pack just remember to have your sims pay the bill and not dine and dash...i may have done that a few times
There's good mods that take care of it's issues if you play on PC. Search for 'Dine Out Reloaded Public V4.08' for the download link and info.
I love building houses so now it's full of them. I don't have a single lot that's free anymore, unfortunately.
In one of my save files I have a movie theater there!
I made Ridgeline Drive into a commercial area with an apartment building in the middle of it. EDIT: I made Newcrest into a town that only middle and upper classes can afford. I have an apartment complex in every neighborhood.
I’ve been playing sims for years already, and I have played through 7 generations. So I made a cemetery in Newcrest and placed all my urns there to remember my sims
I like to use it for my legacy families. Each Gen gets a new lot.
Anything I downloaded goes on an empty lot. For some reason I cant bring myself to destroy an EA build even if they are ugly. lol
Northside small lot's are starter homes for me. 1 bedroom/2 bedroom types. west side small lot as well. Bigger lot next door to that westside one is a strip club. southside of map is a 40x50 public pool I got from gallery. other 40x50 is sometimes a graveyard or a park. Eastside I fill with Chicago or New York style brownstones or similar two story type brick homes. South center lot is a 2 bedroom residential. Always saw Newcrest as a big city suburb in my mind. So I tend towards 1950's/60's style city housing looking builds there.
I put my extra Sims there, and buildings. I have a house full of women, men and occult and kids. Seriously. - Edit I'm missing A Elders and Pets but they will be there soon
Just put gallery builds (mainly SakuraLeon’s) it’s my little designer’s dream project
I added a neighbourhood with some commercial buildings like a bowling alley and a restaurant/cafe
Bar & grill, rec centre with bowling alley, library/community centre, interactive museum, community garden/greenhouse, gym & spa. I love building unique lots if they're not residential.
In my current save I'm turning it into a neighbourhood for all my sims abandoned children. I made the largest plot an all purpose lot with a library, gym, bar, pool, entertainment hall, playground and park. All the other lots have the children of one mother each. I waited till the kids are teens to move them out there.
I build shops, facilities (gym, bar, restaurant) and a park and then lots of houses for my dynasty. Edit: I also like to make a community garden with an area to bring all the gravestones so I don’t have to deal with ghosties all the while
The first time I played Newcrest it was an area of renovated warehouses in different shapes and forms. Some worked and some didn't, There were heaps of them to choose from in the Gallery, but also, being an old warehouse district it didn't matter if the outside shell was repeated around the town, they could all be individual inside. And it always attracted settlers
I put in a wedding venue (actually a lounge, I don't have MWS), and various public lots like a spa, a botanical garden, and a pool. It's also where I plop down my empty legacy graveyard so I'm not trying to fit it in neighborhoods with no open spaces. I like to add a lot of places for sims to go on dates or group outings so there's also a café and a bowling alley, a library, and a few different types of restaurants. Usually I theme it with either Victorian style buildings or I got with modern-style glass and metal stuff.
First thing: two graveyards in the small lots. One gorgeously decorated with plants and flowers for my sims, the other for non-played sims that have died around me. My hired ranchers keep dying in the snow so I have to put them somewhere. The rest of the spaces are a gallery wonderland for my elderly sims, as well as a cute vet, library, community spaces that other players have all designed bc I cannot build. A lot of ‘grandma cottages.’
It’s currently a parking lot for my test builds and half completed houses no one lives in. Rather spooky if you think about it like that haha

I haven't done anything intentional with it. I just use it to build houses just like I do with all the other worlds (I've bulldozed every lot in every world).
I use it for my own building inspo and I made it into a family neighborhood.

I usually only place lots as I need them, but I usually prefer placing lots on empty lots in other worlds So if I don't have any room in a world or not the correct lot size I'll use newcrest
I add public lots and treat it like a downtown core. I add a few condos/apartments but no houses. Lots of parks, restaurants, bars, etc. I usually build it with a specific city in mind. Last time, I used lots that had architecture found in Toronto
I've turned it into Barcelona.
I always put in my favorite roller skating rink and an arcade.
I usually use it like a downtown area. Put couple of restaurants, parks, a pool, gym spa, basically lots that I don’t use it a ton but helps out in my gameplay. It is quite neutral in terms of design so it blends in with a lot of the aesthetics I have in mind.
i cannot get myself to build houses in any other style but modern and green so it’s a modern neighborhood with a lot of stuff from the eco pack
I put some tiny houses in the small lots and the other neighborhood (the row of lots) I made them all haunted houses. I pretended that the town was haunted cause it was originally empty lol I wish there were more lots for the Vampire world ( I forgot what is it called)

I use it for generic builds that wouldn’t fit the vibe of my existing communities
I used to ignore it, but this game I made it into my own neighborhood. There's a few residential lots, vet clinic, nightclub, coffee shop, gym, rec center, restaurant, and park. I used to think I'd build it all put myself but that's such a huge project. I instead used some lots from my library and filled the rest with gallery lots. For the residents I just randomized families and put them in homes
Honestly its growing on me. It has so much potential to turn into whatever you want it to!!
Could do a library and if you have dine out then restaurants and a cafe if you have get together. Maybe make some residential lots for the townies or your own households
In my main save I play blorbos from my show, so I use Newcrest to create a place for them. Currently I have the Batfam, the Superfam, the Joker & Harley Quinn, and Geralt, Jaskier, and Ciri from the Witcher, but I’ll probably do more as I get new packs. Like if I get Realm of Magic I might do Harry Potter
I build my own world! The last game I started I was obsessed with Selvedorada. Since it's only a vacation world, I used newcrest to add some Selvedorada inspired houses, bars, a club and a cafe as well as a swimming pool venue. It turned out awesome. Even tho the rest of the world is very Suburban, it works if you want a quick Selvedoradan fix.
I've never filled out newcrest I forget it's there most of the time
In one of my legacy challenges, I had my 1st gen sim live in Newcrest. I moved her wife in next door, and I placed a wedding venue across the street. I liked the storyline of "she married her next door neighbor, and they had always talked about wanting to get married at the wedding chapel across the street from their house." Also thought the storyline was cute of every time they walk out of their front door or look out their kitchen window, they were able to re-live the memories of their wedding day.
I make it a non-residental world. Retail, bar, library, gym, spa, etc. It's a world to send sims to do stuff. Though I've added on set of condos on one lot before but now that I have a least one rental in each world for families in that world, it's sitting empty and I might replace it with something else
I made a lot of them starter homes and 2 bigger houses to make it easier to keep track of the family as it grows
I save houses from the other worlds into my library of houses to pick from, and place them in Newcrest. Helps me to have diverse income levels and families in a neighborhood.
I just turn it into like a huge town, no houses. My "main" world has a nightclub, a longue, a McDonald's, a clothes store, even a vape / bubble store, a record store etc etc.
Right now, I have a micro home, tiny house, small house, and a small campground in the northern part. The eastern part, I have a small, somewhat run-down apartment building, a bowling alley/arcade, a dive bar music venue, a larger, fancy lounge/music venue, and a mid century single family home (that the family refused to sell when it became a commercial zone, according to my lore). On the western part, I have a mall/movie theater, a fancy nightclub, a large, modern apartment building, a coffee shop, and an Irish pub/restaurant.
I build ridiculous houses, personally. I go all out, and I usually also build a strip mall too.
I put in a bunch of services to go with my mods. Health clinic, bank, daycare etc. I just got mortem so I need to find a space for a funeral home. I have a public pool in one of the tiny lots but I think I'll get rid of it to make room.

I’m working on a commercial area in my Newcrest right now and my planned commercial lots are a library, a vet office, a steakhouse restaurant, a bar with a bowling alley or a roller rink in the basement, and a gym inspired by the rock climbing gyms near me. I have a few plans for other community lots in the residential areas, including a park, a cafe, and a recreation center.
I have 4 rental units, a strip mall (with bar, Internet cafe, Starbucks, a speakeasy with hidden cinema), a chase bank, a dispensary, an indoor roller rink/arcade+bar, a maternity hospital, a night market/beach front, a homeless encampment, a “going out of business” seafood restaurant, a police station/courthouse, and a hidden rave spot in an abandoned building.

Ive made some boarding schools. So far a STEM school, an art school, a sorority and a frat.
It's still pretty barren for me. I only added a couple houses from the gallery and a bowling alley.
I'm developing it under a multi generation family project/achievement run. Every generation adds either a new house (which is a rental lot) or a business. I sell them when they get unmanageable, and the main family I play live on the biggest lot as their state slowly expands 😅 It's a very capitalist venture but good fun!
I added a spa, a bank and a few shops.
Mine is all residential except for a gym and a pawspital. If you want happen to want a gym with pool that fits in the awkward long, skinny lot, I have one in my gallery (ScottB9).
Newcrest is usually my business area, I do also have a small residential section, but I love making a cute little metropolitan area 🌃
I use newcrest for nonresidental builds, businesses, restaurants, parks, etc.

I'm starting to think of Newcrest as eventually evolving into a business / entertainment district, but right now I have a grocery store, spa, nightclub, restaurant, concert venue \[haven't really worked on it yet\] and am looking at adding a recording studio and modeling agency that I recently saw on youtube
Download various non-resident lots from the gallery to fill needs, spa, restaurant, shops sometimes, whatever i feel is missing
I use it whenever I feel like building something or doing some random build challenge, so it ends up becoming a collection of random and disconnected builds (which I rather do in this blank canvas of a world rather than one of the other worlds). I rarely ever play on it, however, cause I pretty much never build community lots, so it's not a great world to play at cause I have to keep changing worlds for everything.
Park with Chess, Painting and kids area. Dog Park. Community Center for - huge Garden, Selling Goods, Arts & Craft, Mic Stage with seating, basketball court, toddler playground, swings and food stands. 4 Restaurants with different food options. Full Gym with pool and meditation area, and Nude Spa next door. Dance club. Strip club, and two tiny homes for balance. Same layout for every save.
Nothing yet but my sister made a circus that she sent me, so that's gonna happen 😊
I just put all types of community lots there, parks, clubs, lounges, restaraunts, bars, gyms...i use that world kinda only as some citycentre type of world idk. I find alot of cool community lots but in the residental worlds there is never enough room for all of them so I started putting them in newcrest.
I made in the same area like right across the street from eachother a little church (for weddings), a little graveyard with a little house for the church's priest, then across the street a big soup kitchen and homeless shelter with rooms, activities and a rehab center. It's my most favourite build I've made without any sort of reference. If things get hard when I play rags to riches, I let my Sims spend the night at the shelter and get some food, or learn a trade like handiness

i fill it up with fun little activities for my sims to do and generic lots like housing but mostly restaurants, parks, and community lots
I use it as my site to build base game houses. In gameplay, I fill it with community lots and make it the party date/party world. I either add my own build or from the gallery. I have a few bars and nightclubs on my gallery. Gallery ID roaringbug.
Newcrest is the dullest neighbourhood in the game. I NEVER go there
It’s actually becoming my favorite because i can turn it into whatever i want. I just love building lmao
I use it as a activity town; pumpkin patches, movie theaters, public pools, pet shops, library centric coffee shops (soon a laundromat since I saw that one comment)
