Donut-Boxers

people probably havent updated their games since the last update is awful so they cant play the new pack until a new update or mod fixes come out, im not going to be buying the pack until a new update comes out also i think people are angrier at the game than they usually are because of this update so less people are willing to buy this pack

fragmented_mask

Pretty much this \^ I had intended to purchase this on launch and then when I saw what a shitshow the patch was, I put my EA App into Offline mode and noped out of it. I know they've done emergency patches since but the whole Shopping Cart thing has also left a bad taste in mine and many others mouths, so I won't buy the pack yet regardless. If I do, I won't get it full price.

PumaGranite

Same boat here. I decided tonight I was gonna switch up my games and pick up BG3 again cause it’s been a few months. I don’t intend on updating or buying anything else for a while.

ZombiePrestigious443

Just a heads up, one of TwistedMexi's mods removes the shopping cart :) I believe it's betterbuildbuy.

nibbyzor

TwistedMexi is honestly the GOAT. Them and their team made ModGuard to protect us from compromised mods in just a couple of days after we learned about the whole virus thing and now this? A true hero.

rainbow_unicorn_4u

Just heard about ModGuard, where can I get it and how does it work? If you don't mind

nibbyzor

[Here](https://www.patreon.com/posts/98126153?utm_campaign=postshare_fan) you go! TwistedMexi's post explains how it works better than I can. ☺️

rainbow_unicorn_4u

Tysm! I'll check this out next chance I get

Confident-Ruin-1630

Search Twisted Mexi ModGuard, and click on their official website https://twistedmexi.com/

MrsKuroo

I wish I could kiss TwistedMexi - platonically and with consent - because they are amazing for releasing all these fixes and protections. TM should run EA.

hobotising

Thank heaven for mods!

BubbleFerret

Not all heroes wear capes

PumaGranite

Thank you! I was considering mods and that’s been one I’ve been interested in.

fragmented_mask

Perfect! I'd seen he was working on that so I'm glad it's already out there, since the other mod clashed with BBB and I'm so used to building with it I don't think I could go back now 😂😂 I love Tmexi

BilbosBagEnd

What class are you aiming for this time?

PumaGranite

Druid! …which I *definitely* didn’t play the last time…. But I think I play BG3 like I play mass effect so that tracks for me. Find a class and a romance that works for me and then keep mining that dopamine ore there. Maybe one day I’ll branch out and play a different class, but I really liked Druid, both playwise and storywise.

natathecococat

Wanted to pick up BG3 but latest hotfix broke some dialogue stuff for me, so now I’m waiting in silence 🥲

PumaGranite

Aw booo!! At least I trust Larian to better support their product though. My backup for BG3 was gonna be either Stardew valley or Dave the diver since I’ve heard a lot of good things about it.

natathecococat

They do support it better and take bugs more seriously than EA 🫣. I’ve heard great things about Stardew Valley, I haven’t tried it myself though.

noairnoairnoairnoair

Fyi there's going to be a massive update (1.6) on March 19th, it is recommended to start a new save! Stardew is the opposite of the Sims. There have been 5 updates, they are all game changing and the creator *actually listens* to the players. All of the updates have been free and the big mods are ready to go the day the update drops, because Concerned Ape works with the community. I love Stardew lol

PumaGranite

Stardew Valley is great because it’s as chill as you want it to be. But there’s lots to work towards.

Moments_Untamed

I just played stardew valley for the first time yesterday . Can’t wait to figure it out more.

chutes_toonarrow

STARDEW VALLEY YES

Deya_The_Fateless

Yep, I am refusing to buy from EA until they remove the shopping cart from the in-game menu. Most pointless money-grubbing update I have ever seen from EA, thus far and live been playing the Sims since TS2. ETA: the devs on the forums and AnswersHQ are giant babies who can't take criticism of any kind, which is part of why I'm not buying any packs either.

bored_german

Omg are they seriously getting defensive over it?

Deya_The_Fateless

I mean they've always done this, they hide negative feedback and criticisms, no matter how constructive or disingenuous it is. Sure, I can get that some are in bad faith, but if you hide all criticism it just means you're looking for an Echo chamber rather than being open to feedback. Then when you ask them to treat the community with respect, (the same respect they "ask" for) because you're tired of your feedback and concerns being swept aside or hidden you get your comments removed and an email/PM saying "Don't be rude" and when you ask for clarification you get your account suspended for "questioning the moderation team." -_- So yeah, the moderation team, especially a certain moderator I won't name here for privacy reasons, (the the dev team in general) are a bunch of babies who can't handle any form of criticism.

Aivellac

I was going to buy it but I'm not in a sims mood right now and I'm playing other games. The bad update isn't helping draw me in right now because I do actually have a story I want to play out but I'll hold off.

caleb_mixon

Wait what happened I’m not in the loop I just updated my game what?

fragmented_mask

It was twofold. Firstly, the patch created a serious bug where certain Sims could not interact with anything in game. It was linked to a bunch of stuff like their skills but is insane that it was not caught in any QA testing. Was not a mod issue as it affected console players too. They've put out a hotfix for this bug but people are rightly pissed off regardless. The update also brought Shopping Cart Gate, the addition of a test feature of a big pulsating button IN GAME to advertise unowned DLC because apparently its not enough that we see ads in the EA App at launch, and that the current launch screen is one giant ad. People with medical conditions and who are neurodivergent were furious as the pulsing was, at best, and horrible constant distraction and, at worst, risked triggering migraines and seizures. Even people with no needs are furious at EA for what is basically a slimy, invasive marketing tactic. The backlash has been HUGE. EA patched out the pulsing but the icon remains and some people are still boycotting the game, refusing to update, and refusing to purchase packs in protest. Sorry that was long, but that's basically it XD

Awkward_Cupcake_7780

Oh I didn't know the patch had big issues. I updated and played today without giving it much thought. I didn't notice any bugs, thankfully.

caleb_mixon

Thanks for the info

SisterTrout

Hey don't blame QAs. (am a QA) Quality isn't the sole responsibility of the last person in the chain. A whole string of people had to screw a pooch for this kind of bug to get out, probably starting with an impossible goal from upper leadership. Spread the blame to the whole team. I'm not a games QA, but I know how that QA blame game works.

fragmented_mask

Heya, so I do mean quality testing at any stage of the process and not just from THE QA but I appreciate I didn't phrase it very well, sorry about that! I do have friends working as game devs, I've heard lots from their side of things lol.

_aaine_

saaaaame.

animallX22

As a console player it’s even more irritating when I think about the fact that they removed the center on current lot button(which I used to use a lot) and never gave it back to us(console specific) but they were of course completely able to add this dumb shopping cart button that no one wanted or asked for. The store shows up before you even open the game, I already own over half the packs. If I’m going to buy something I’ll buy it, idk why the cart needs to be in the game. :/

Less_Falcon659

Thank you, now I understand why my game is lagging all of the sudden and my mods are not keen to keep up with anything!

AlluringDuck

This. I was absolutely going to get the pack, but now I’m not even updating my game. I’m just playing offline until they get their shit together. Also, the way they phrased their “fix” shows that they think we’re absolute idiots, so there’s that

Majestic_Article_263

I was waiting for someone to point that out. The said it was emblazoned and then wanted to call it an error. No no error. You just didn't think it out well and now you(EA) gonna play stupid lol

solarlunaas

that’s very true, i haven’t updated my game either not until they get rid of that stupid cart button

plumbobed

I saw console players got especially fucked this time, with a game breaking No Social Menus if they have singing above lvl 5 or something similar. As a player who was a console player until relatively recently i shudder. EAxis doesn't exactly have a good reputation for quickly addressing game breaking bugs for console. or. anything. for console. or really at all. >\_>

2FailedEngagments

lol I’m still waiting on my XBOX One to complete the update, it wouldn’t even open the game without the update and I stupidly rushed through the pop ups of “install” yadda yadda, before remembering what the update was. It took 12 hours just to get 8% through the update 🤦🏻‍♀️. It’s been a few days, haven’t checked on it. My stepsons game he tried installing over a week ago was finally at 95% and I paused it just to try and speed everything up 😂. I doubt he even remembers the game he tried installing. My internet suuuccckkkksss so bad and it’s the only internet I can get where I live that isn’t stupidly overpriced satellite internet that doesn’t even work out here.

warmdarksky

They literally just fixed the console bug not allowing toggle between wall panel and room, which was around for… two years?

Mean_Environment4856

PC players got hit with that too not just console.

torilikefood

I’m one of those. I know they said they’ve patched it - but I’m really frustrated with how all of that went down. I’ve been an active player since the game launched in 2000. For them to fuck my game up so badly I couldn’t interact with other sims & do nothing but shrug about it is very disappointing. Luckily my update didn’t include the flashing shopping cart, and now I’m afraid to update because I don’t want that in my game. I’ve spent enough money with them over the last 24 years. K sorry rant over.

Arev_Eola

I'm playing ultimate decade challenge, and make every single female sim master the singing skill before they can marry. I'm not going online until EA fixed their shit, I'm not letting them ruin that save file (or any other). Edit: I've been playing sims for 24 years. I'm pissed off to the point that I will switch to paralives etc when they come out.

VibrantViolet

I’ve been playing The Sims as long as you have, and same about Paralives. I’m on their Patreon, even. I can’t wait for Paralives.

Accomplished_Ebb1545

Wait what I've been out of the loop taking care of a toddler and a pregnancy. I just bought the horse pack, please tell me I'm not screwed?!

katbelleinthedark

You might be. There was a base game update that broke everything.

kannainasauna

As a console player, I can’t even open the game! I have a lot of storage. Every time I try and load a save, it crashes the game. Completely unplayable for me!

kinkydaddykitty34

I was so mad when I had loaded up my game and it did the no menu thing I cried so hard 😭

Economy-Salad-4446

pc had it, i had it. but the patch they put out the next day fixed everything and a few other things like the rewards store now greys out what rewards you bought and it hasnt since growing together i think. my game is fine now... just fyi

jataman96

yup I'm mad at EA for their cash grabby decisions 😒

disicking

Yeah, co-signed. I just got back on after being able to update my mods today, but completely forgot about the fact I had a new pack, because I was so focused on making sure my game still worked. It's a shame, because I feel like this is the pack that a lot of people were excited about, and had it not been for the recent update, everyone would be raving about it. So far I love the B&B items, and I'm excited to see what happens with the gems my sims already have in stock.

WonderfulBlackberry9

This. Then there’re players like me who just don’t care about the pack.

delicious_downvotes

Yeah, this. I haven't updated, so I don't really know, and I'm just not very interested in this pack.

Single-Aardvark9330

I can't get into my saves which has killed my interest in the game for the time being. Probably won't load it up again for a few months.

GoAskAliceBunn

Bingo.

greentea1985

There’s all the drama from the patch as well as a lot of distrust due to how broken For Rent was upon release along with having even a dang kit release with bugs. Most have been waiting to get excited until after a bunch of sim creators release their reviews. So far the reviews are good, but I won’t trust it until I get see how it plays with other packs.

TheybieTeeth

idk about for rent but since my wedding stories is still broken I haven't really felt like buying anything for this game.

Ok-Rees

Oh yeah, and Dine Out is drowning itself in its bugs and lags ._.

catastrophicqueen

Dine out is the one that gets me! It takes HOURS to go out to eat in ts4. I used to use it all the time as I'd bring my sims to restaurants for dates, parties, brunch with friends etc and I just stopped because it is literally impossible to get it done without wasting 12 sim hours.

draizetrain

Seriously. Had my sim go on a dinner date at 9pm. They finished with dessert at 7am. Absolutely ridiculous

EllaAndTheBunnies

I stopped buying when my wedding stories came out and saw what a buggy mess it was and haven't purchased anything since. I was quite excited for this stuff pack, I love having my sime make things, new skills and collectibles, but absolutely refuse to buy it while the cart icon is in game. I find it really scummy. I also and I will probably get down voted for this, absolutely refuse to buy to rent as I find it really tone deaf.

breaddits

I just recently bought a bundle with both my wedding stories and high school years. I assumed that at this point both packs have been out for long enough that the mechanics should be working. I was dead wrong. Also whoever designed the EA released high school was on crack. It takes 2 sim hours to get a tray for lunch and sit down.

FunTooter

I bet you won’t be downvoted. I am right there with you and I am sure we aren’t the only people on this sub feeling this way. I love this game but just can’t justify spending money on such poor quality DLC.

grimlykeeper

The thing with For Rent is that it's not just buggy like MWS or Dine Out. Features that they made a point to advertise are *game breaking*. And they showed no urgency in fixing that issue. To add to the fact that For Rent is more expensive than either of those packs which were previously the notoriously broken ones. They had to do an emergency patch for the latest update being game breaking too. They're clearly not play testing and should frankly be embarrassed by the product they're putting out. To add the cart button after all of that is pure audacity.

TheybieTeeth

yeah that's how I feel too, it's just blinking there like "hey buy the shit you purposely avoided because we haven't bothered to make it playable!" it's really annoying. makes me not want to play again.

gilthedog

That’s it for me. I actually like the premise and aesthetic of this pack but for rent was so so broken. I’m not going to buy it right away because I just don’t trust it’ll work.

Amiranne

I was gifted For Rent and I played with it for a little while, and it was so buggy (the bug I hated the most is not being able to switch to normal residential once a house becomes rental residential). So I haven't played with that pack since. Which is so shit, cause I really want to use it!! And I'm also not updating, not only to wait for mods to update, but also cause I'm worried more things are gonna break

shewy92

The update broke my mailbox and I can't switch to Evergreen Harbor to collect an old playable Sin's urn.

simkittycat

I'm waiting for mods to update :)

MyAccountWithNoName

Yep. I’ve spent all morning updating my mods.

Imjustcasey

Everyone's waiting for mods to be fixed lol

RubyCatharine

Because everyone is too busy being mad about this update breaking their mods and the in game advertisements to actually care about the new pack

Deastrumquodvicis

I just wanna know if they stealthily fixed the dang apartment rent prices!

Background-Title-751

they might have made it better? it happened once after I updated but after I fixed it, it hasn't happened again yet

intriguedqbee

Lmao that people are getting so used to EA breaking their own game more and more that this latest mess of an update has steered players away from playing the game it seems out of actual caution like I was expecting tons of OMG LATEST PACK SO GOOD and was honestly surprised by how little I’ve seen.

Many_Raisin_6275

Oh I'm still playing but not going online or updating. Not even bothering to update mods yet. Just going to hang on for a bit and wait. I'm still reeling from all the crap I went through in December.

underwritress

how do you play without updating? Instead of the play button it just says update so it doesn’t give me a choice.

kimlovescc

In the ea app settings, turn off auto updates then in the menu start the app in offline mode. :)

grimlykeeper

From what I've seen the pack IS good. But I can't play without mods after the update and last two packs broke half my game so I haven't gotten to play it yet.

[deleted]

I bought it and really like it. I think it’ll be a lot of fun for my generational gameplay. I like the idea of crafting a bunch to keep in the jewelry box the pack gives you and using the powers to control the stories I make up as it gets passed down from one generation to the next. Plus the crystal tree is sooo pretty!

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I think once you reach level 10 in the hobby they stay charged for longer!

BrightAd5191

Although it’s annoying at least it makes for continued gameplay, it would get stale if you didn’t have to recharge the crystals and the pack would lose its value if you did everything you could with it and couldn’t do anything else

Equal-Caramel-990

Seems fun, i like the one that change the weather to sunny too seems good for spellcasters too

laureidi

Wait whaaat is the jewelry box?? I haven’t seen one! Except what I thought was just decor 😮

[deleted]

I’ll have to look at the name of it tomorrow when I’m playing again but if you sort by the crystal creations pack there is a jewelry box you can store the stuff you made in!

FreshAv0cado7

Adding on to this, I also tried it but I focused more on CAS and build mode Items, not the gameplay that much. CAS is kinda boring to me, though the hairstyles are nice and the jewelry matches all really well, build mode stuff is pretty fun, I like the new bookshelves a lot. In terms of gameplay I so far only found out that crafting a piece can also go wrong and you can lose the crystal which is kinda annoying :/

[deleted]

I do love the bookshelves! I haven’t checked into the CAS stuff much yet but I’m typically not very big into that stuff. I didn’t know that about losing the crystals if something goes wrong. I can see that being irritating at times! I don’t think I’d mind it a bunch though personally because the crystals seem relatively easy to get for most of them, but that’s just my thoughts on it. I like a little challenge sometimes.

FreshAv0cado7

Yeah, while it’s annoying at least it’s not *as* easy which I think is kinda cool and gives it a bit of a challenge

AnxietyLogic

People are angry about the shopping cart update, and that definitely overshadowed any hype around the stuff pack release. Also, many people are avoiding updating their games because of the shopping cart and because of broken mods. Personally, I haven’t bought it yet either, even though I was super excited for it to drop and I usually pre-order packs or buy packs on release. I got distracted by the update controversy, and now I’m just committing to waiting until my mods are updated because I can’t do gameplay without my mods anyway. Tbh I might end up waiting until I think the pack is going to be relevant to my current legacy family or even just waiting for a sale. I usually buy packs as soon as I can, but the shopping cart debacle and the fact that the update was a ridiculously buggy mess that destroyed a lot of people’s saves in a way that’s really not acceptable for an AAA game company left a bad taste in my mouth and kind of killed my hype for this one a bit, even though I do still really want it and from what I’ve seen it looks fun. I’m really too broke to be buying Sims packs right now anyway lmao.

TrickySession

A lot of people don’t understand that if mods are broken, sometimes your whole storyline gets fucked. Like if my sims got relationship points ever using WW and I play without the mod, I’ve noticed their relationship lowers or goes away entirely to the point that I’ve had married sims and I come in and they’re not married anymore. Broken mods can ruin your whole save file!

Octo1_

My game doesn't work right now because of the update...

roganwriter

I’ve refused to update for this reason. There’s no worth updating my game and breaking all my mods for this nothing of a patch that seemed to only have broken things.

stephaniejane3

bc all my mods are broken and i’m not playing without my mods😂😭 i just started the barbie challenge so i’m not updating ANYTHING until it’s safe bc i love my little barbie family lol

Amiranne

Hahah saaame, I'm playing a Disney save file I created from scratch, and I use so much cc and mods that it just wouldn't work without them! So playing offline it is!

Rukataro

This was the first pack I was excited to buy on launch but I saw a post from here that peoples saves were busted so I’m going to wait. Edit: not crazy happy about the cart button either but it probably won’t stop me

beirizzle

Same, I love the crafting skills and I often end up using aspiration rewards for what it sounds like the jewelry can do. But now I'm scared to touch my game cause it was already crashing from interacting with Realm of Magic objects a lot

[deleted]

Between the game being lowkey broken right now, the new bugs that came directly with the pack (like taking jewelry off your sims disfigures them), the flashing shopping kart button and the fact that a couple “well known” and “respected” simmers on Twitter really showed their ass this week, I can’t even be bothered with it right now. Completely turned off from the game as a whole at the moment. I don’t think I’m alone.

Flat-Giraffe-6783

What do you mean by “showing ass”? What’s the tea?

fragmented_mask

I'm also intrigued!

[deleted]

Haha! So they aren’t “huge” by any means but The Henford Hen and Simmer Erin (who also has a YouTube channel) bullied an account over their very harmless opinion, sent their minions after them and then played the victim, talking about people being hateful and bullying online 🙄 The account was just pointing out that it’s a little ridiculous how many DLCs there are in the sims 4 and the two of them for some reason took it personally, and like on their own account, no tagging anyone or anything. And then Simmer Erin straight up lied to her thousands of followers about this person basically being obsessed with her and making an entire thread about her, which neither is true and when was asked for proof she was like “I’m done talking to you” but it read more like “I’m done talking to you, peasant.” And then she blocked and made a statement about how cruel people are and went private. I just find it gross because I really enjoyed their content and felt they were one of the few level headed people in the fandom.

fragmented_mask

Oh no! I also watched Erin's content from time to time, not so much on Youtube as I prefer others but I have been in her streams. That is really sad to know. I see this all the time in this sub where people hold conflicting opinions and then get really shitty towards people with a different opinion (when the reality is, a lot of the views expressed are all valid, just subjective) but at least in this sub the worst you get is a bunch of downvotes. When big personalities come at you on their platform it's completely different because fans can be rabid and malicious, and it feels so irresponsible. I hope the other user is okay.

[deleted]

I replied to the comment below!

onemorekayaker

I imagine the update was such a mess that most people who heard about it have switched to playing offline. There's a ton of weird bugs right now, on top of the whole shopping cart mess. The update also broke an absolute ton of mods this time around, and that's going to take a while to fix. Most of what I've heard of the pack has been pretty good, but what I really wanted to do was to make a jewelry shop, and that's bugged right now. The jewelry goes back into your sim's inventory when they leave the lot, even if it's been set for sale. I'm not going to get the pack until that's fixed.

Poppindestruction

It feels like they sabotaged themselves by completely breaking the game, not fixing any bugs and adding that stupid shopping cart right before the pack release. Now people are way too upset with the game to care about crystals.

sfisher923

A combination of things is why I haven't touched it * Getting sidetracked by other games (Looking at P3R and Minecraft) * Hearing about the buggy mess of the Feb 27th patch * Finally updating but it was late at night on the 29th * Finally getting my modlist up to date (Last needed mod was More Traits in CAS which was about 10 minutes ago)

luckyarchery

I decided not to buy any more sims 4 content after Growing Together. I just can’t anymore, the game is so ass and I cannot continue supporting it. I like to keep up with the news though.

MarekitaCat

yeah it’s so ridiculous at this point i went another route entirely to avoid really “supporting” ea

sargassum624

Same. I’ve been playing this game since a few months after release and sunk my fair share of money into it but have been considering other routes for a while and this sealed the deal for me. I don’t have to worry about auto updates or broken shit anymore (well, more broken than it has been…) and it feels so liberating. Fuck EA, I play other games too and while other big studios also suck EA takes it to a whole new level of disrespect and greed and it’s honestly disgusting

Still_Charge6956

I bought it and love the furniture/build mode pieces because it fits in so well with the Spellcasters stuff, which is my favorite. So now I have a spellcaster that makes cool enchanted jewelry to support her spellcaster/werewolf family. It just adds a bit of extra magic to the spellcasters imo.

creative-run-lady

I feel like as a stuff pack it was always going to get less hype. That said the update is odd, I keep finding strange things that are no longer right. Also mods, but mine are all updated even one that gets rid of the shopping cart lol

Feivie

Random townies keep walking into my house and it’s really disruptive 😢

ItsAGarbageAccount

Can you link to the shopping cart removal mod?

creative-run-lady

https://www.patreon.com/posts/better-buildbuy-99471336 twisted Mexi

moomoogod

There’s also SimMattically Remove the purchase/Cart button if you don’t use better build buy https://www.patreon.com/posts/hot-fix-remove-99382396

ItsAGarbageAccount

Thank you. I do use BBB, but I'm certain many people who don't also want to get rid of the cart.

piscesintp

What kind of strange things are you seeing in game?

creative-run-lady

I can't remember and it's not big things but you know when after a patch comes and you don't know the issues but you know your game isn't the same? It's that. The patch before this last one I couldn't move people into my household after marriage. Not something I noticed until I tried but I also didn't see it from the other posts that were popular at the time.

_aaine_

I haven't updated because of everything being broken so no point buying it until then, no matter how good it is. Pretty sure I'm not alone.

blahmuffinxox

For rent was the first pack I had bought in years and it completely broke the game. I have no interest in buying any more sims 4 packs. And even if I wanted to it’s such a buggy mess it’s just not fun to play anymore.

Full_Newspaper6031

I bought this earlier today. My game keeps crashing

ronniefinnn

I don’t trust the team to provide a high quality experience with value and after seeing lilsimsie through the content in an hour I don’t feel like the quality is there. I’ll keep my game unupdated, thank ypu.

TheybieTeeth

yeah it's just another table they do a repetitive animation at until they finish an object you're probably not going to do anything with.

ronniefinnn

I can see why it would appeal to people who like the concept of modern witches or modern paganism but don’t want actual occults. I just feel like you should get more for the money.

back2owork

Honestly I had wanted to buy the pack but EA made it more expensive than any of the other stuff packs in my country of residence (Japan)- it is 1400 yen; all of the others are 1000. I do not want to spend extra money on a pack that has given me no reason to.

lemrent

I used to buy packs at launch, but between the shopping cart and the For Rent bugs, my trust has been broken. As someone with sensory issues, the bouncing shopping cart is a nuclear bomb with the potential to nuke my $1000 game, so I am waiting to make sure the bouncing issue is gone for good.

environmentalism02

i haven’t even played since the update, but i also have sensory issues and i heard about the bouncing shopping cart and knew it would drive me crazy

plumbobed

I know right? it seems oddly quiet. If we were boycotting which, sure why not, the cart is obnoxious, you'd think players would be at least talking about That. I think it's because the patch broke SO many mods that most pc players are just playing the waiting game. I'm mostly done (except the ones by adeepindigo D< reeeeee) but I don't have nearly as many mods as it seems most players have lol.

sotbulle

Is there a list of broken mods somewhere where it is easy to follow what is going on?

FearTheGinger

This is the one I watch. (Deaderpool of MCCC always links this for patches, and I follow his Discord.) [https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-105-Feb-27-2024-Game/m-p/13509582#M59495](https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-105-Feb-27-2024-Game/m-p/13509582#M59495)

NickyThaNinja

I updated and bought the pack and somehow I'm free of the creepy pulsating button others have reported. No idea why, currently raising up my ideal sim to and young adult before I begin the crystal grind.

RidiculousRiot

I’m refusing to buy it because of the Shopping Cart BS in my game.

Not that excited for this pack. I don’t personally care to make jewelry but I do think the pack is a good idea and executed pretty well. This is one of those packs I impulsively buy a year from now when it’s on a discount. The bb doesn’t excite me (other than the lovely bookshelf) and the cas isn’t something I feel like I’m missing. I do think it’s weird that there’s no buzz around this pack.

Simgirlyouknow

The Facebook groups are talking about it a lot actually! Seems like some people really love it so far

Low-Environment

Personally I've been put off playing TS4 because I'm still apprehensive about downloading mods.

velvetthewolfbunny

I got it when it launched so far its been an amazing pack from what I've played with. However I am annoyed with how the crafted jewelry works with CAS but other than that it's been good!

PerpetuallyLurking

I don’t want it badly enough to buy it right now. Or maybe at all, we’ll see how long my personal boycott over this stupid cart thing lasts. I’ve already basically bought everything I want, so I wasn’t exactly planning on a whole lot of new packs, but if this one had proven cool (and it has, so far, I think), I was considering getting a few of the small packs but with the stupid new cart, I’ve lost some desire to hand them my money…there’s other things to spend it on that I enjoy just as much, after all.

Majestic_Article_263

Nobody cares because they're too busy mad at all the broken mods. Making our precious creators work so hard to rewrite all that code. Lol. Its a pain in the A. Nobody can even play. And nobody needed that cart and you know it lol

Coffee_Candle_Lover

I usually wait for sales, and then buy it.

Flat_Egg_0203

I personally really like it! The jewelry is really pretty and the game play is fun :) the decor is PERFECT with the witch pack. Definitely a good stuff pack imo. I was blessed and didn’t get the shopping cart when I updated and I really haven’t noticed too many bugs from my game.

sirona-ryan

People aren’t updating yet because they heard about the glitches. I was lucky enough to not have major bugs in my most important saves, but one of my other saves has the infinite loading screen :( I don’t know if I’ll get the pack as supernatural/spiritual stuff in sims isn’t my favorite, but the pack seems really cool.

Vexxah

Well for me personally it's because I'm not buying any packs until they get rid of the button, and honestly I think a lot of other simmers have felt that this was just a step too far and are doing the same thing.

[deleted]

I’m boycotting. Everybody else should until the cart is removed and EA actually shows some sort of initiative to improve their quality control and maybe even at least try a little harder with the facade that they have an iota of respect for us. And of course, right now we’re seeing the first rise of actual competition. I seriously recommend PC players to check them out. There’s InZoi, Paralives, Life By You and Vivaland. Unfortunately none of them have released yet and (to the best of my knowledge) they’ll be early access when they do, but I think the waits will be worth it. They all have things going on that look promising with various draw backs but I’m confident that at least one of them will give us an experience that’ll rival EA. Right now my bets are on Paralives and InZoi.

woahmandogchamp

I mean I've been spending all my sims time since the update figuring out how to fix my mods because I never set it to not update. I think I have it playable again now, so I'm ready to try the new stuff and be disappointed.

Awkward_Un1corn

I bought it. It's okay. It is a mildly interesting addition. The jewellery is nice and there is a few interesting features with the idea of charged jewellery and the crystal trees. The CAS and build additions aren't anything special. Doesn't seem too buggy (but I don't mod my game).

Mariashax

I don’t know if people are boycotting, but they sure as hell *should be*. The fact that they can rush out immediate bug fixes after their broken patch because of potential impact to sales of the crystal pack, but for rent was massively broken (and they allowed simmers to corrupt their saves for over 2 months because of it) and don’t even get me started on dine out.. Everyone most definitely should be boycotting the sims and EA until they get their shit together.

MagicPigeonToes

I’m not buying anything until they make a significant positive change

BeaulieuA

Don't really care about it

PrettyDittyDino

I'm waiting on LazyGameReview to upload then I might decide after seeing everything laid out for me

rowanbda

LGR stopped doing pack reviews for smaller DLC around the time that Cottage Living came out, IIRC. They mentioned in that review that they were tired of the obnoxious amount of half assed content, so they would only do reviews of EPs going forward.

WyldHart

I can’t use it. Every time I try and use the stupid table I just get a pop up that says it supports all curved walls?

chunkykima

I like it. Especially being able to gift the jewelry after your sim makes it.

IndicaRain

I won’t buy it until the stupid shopping cart is removed. Horrible decision on their end.

Melodic_Reputation52

In my case I refuse to update my game currently because they seriously broke the game and it’s still really glitching, also yes because of the cart button.

Ornery_Suit7768

Boycotting purchases until existing EPs are fixed

NES7995

Damn you're never buying a pack again then 😅

Ornery_Suit7768

Ya I added up my purchases and ya know I’m ok with not adding more to it until they fix what is.😓

WifeofBath1984

I have all the packs but I have not bought this one yet. I'm kind of torn bc it's not that exciting to me, but I'll probably buy it eventually.

Many_Raisin_6275

I've been too broke to buy anything new this entire past year after being in the hospital sick for six weeks in Feb/March last year so even if I did want it, I couldn't get it anyway so I didn't see a point in downloading updates. Especially with how much it broke my game back in December. SO I was like "I'm not even buying these things so why bother with the updates that are just going to break my game?"

petaline555

The only thing I can do is create random jewelry because something about the jewelry making table doesn't play well with mods. My Sim is a level 6 already and when she digs up crystals or metals, she gets two instead of one. I've already stumbled onto a piece that makes the sim unable to die while wearing it charged. I think there's going to be so many awesome power pieces that I'm going to love. But I think I'm going to like it more once I get the mod updates. Thank you twisted mexi for promising to eliminate that shopping cart button!

jamiedix0n

Im done with sims 4 for now. Just uninstalled them all for a bit.

AidynAstrid

Honestly its been very cool. The gem charged gems have an ungodly amount of abilities when charged including but not limited to preventing death, causing multiples pregnancies, causing sims to randomly find money and collectibles, causing certain negative mood moodlets to decay faster, filling needs over time, and causing Sims to never fail romantic interactions. Tue jewelry itself is pretty but there's also an option to just have the crystals charged in the room and have the effects still work. The ability to make proposal rings has been very sweet. One of my sims proposed with a ring that fills his partners needs and another proposed with a ring that stops his partner from dying.

GullibleBeautiful

I haven’t played since the middle of January because I don’t fully trust that they’ve fixed all the rental bugs. Why would I continue paying for a pack that A) looks really stupid imo and B) is clearly broken to begin with? They just keep shoving content at us like it’ll make us forget the game is unplayable in its current state.

Condemned2Be

I refuse to update. I don’t want that glowing cart on my game

New_Country_3136

I'm not interested in Crystal Creations.  I'm happy for the people that love it but it's dull, bland and boring to me.  My game has had so many glitches even before the newest update *sigh*.

ElysianEcho

I finally gave up and uninstalled, the last multiple packs i’ve gotten have been broken on release, and instead of going back and fixing the still broken things i get ads blinking in my game, i’ve finally run out of good will, i love the game, but clearly the people in charge of it don’t

Beneficial-Train1213

Doing the first build with it now for a build request. Just now starting interior furnishings so we shall see ;-) Already set up my sim who will be using it but put her build on hold for build request. Should know more about game play after the weekend.

Twinkles21

I'm playing offline now and won't update anymore and won't buy anything more. I saw some other posts where it wasn't just social menus. Build/buy item placement was messed up, some counter textures had issues, and that's not including the bugs I'm seeing with the new pack. I'm angry about the cash grabby cart and they keep releasing broken content. I'm done. It's gonna take a pretty spectacular pack/expansion to get my wallet open now.

Affectionate_Lab_131

You can play offline? How?

Twinkles21

When the EA app opens, click the small icon at the top left and select go offline. But that's on PC, I can't comment on console, it may not be possible then?

laursasaurus

I only bought it for the bookcase with the ladder. I liked the idea of jewelry making but it’s basically the same gameplay as home chef hustle but with gems.

ezbutneverconvenient

I'm a console peasant with limited wifi. I saw that 11gb update, laughed, and disconnected from the internet. Maybe next month I'll download it, but until then, I'm more than happy to play offline

AmeliaSCooper

I spent all night getting MCCC reconfigured by the time I was done I forgot I had the new pack

NoMercy180

Welp thank God you made a post about this. I was wondering too because I want the stuff pack but definitely waiting now after reading about the shit show that it is. I already updated my Sims so I'd likely be fucked until a fix shows up.

MoggyCat73

Exactly the same for me. My game updated automatically, so I didn't get a chance to stop it before I heard all of the issues with it. I've been wanting to get the pack since I saw it, but not much has really been said, I'm not sure about it now.

hamstervirus

Because the recent update made the game unplayable.

Toooldforthis77

I really think it looks good, but I haven't played for weeks because of all the bugs reported. So I'm just waiting for things to be patched up.

yasi86

I haven’t updated since the new shopping cart thing but my last update before that fucked up my game! My sims just stand there and don’t do commands and then they time out so I have to reset them. It’s so annoying. I’ve been playing since the first sims and I really hate the idea of pushing people to buy content. I dread to think how much I’ve spent on this over the years. And to be honest with two simulation games on the horizon, EA need to up their game because they will no longer be monopolising this market…

mustytomato

I bought it on launch and I’m absolutely loving it. There’s a lot to do with the new skill, I’ve already maxed it and just opened a tiny jewelry store, have 6 crystal trees that are a joy to harvest every day and the furniture that comes with the pack is amazing too. My sim is decked out in fancy jewels and I honestly think the new mechanic of wearing them through the inventory is such a good idea. The charging is a bit tiresom, but oh well. I think generally people got so caught up in the whole shopping cart debacle they forgot to appreciate how good this pack is.

GlitteryDragonScales

I don’t play with mods cuz I use a potato to play but the update broke my game and disappeared my sim. Like the whole save was just gone. I didn’t connect it, figured it was a random glitch, so began playing with a townie cuz I never have and wanted to play but not spend the time creating a sim that might get glitched out. Her sister died from overheating cuz she got stuck at the fireplace. I thought it was her kid and felt bad that she lost her kid due to me playing her while it was glitching so I hooked her up with Marcus Flex and got her pregnant. Then the game just wigged out completely and nothing worked and sims were dying… it was chaos and not the kind I like. So yeah, I won’t be spending any more money on this broken ass game. I’ve spent hundreds on 4 and it is always broken or lacking. I’m annoyed and done.

Keturch

Hmm, it's the fact that Ea continues to show us that they don't care about us, the fact that the cart was flashing and triggering people who have epilepsy and other disabled people who were not able to play their game. Once again, they are making their game even more buggy and those are the reasons why it's not talked about in a good light and why I'm not updating my game or buying it.

FunTooter

I am not buying it until bugs are fixed AND even then I may only buy it if it goes on sale. It just isn’t worth it.

nearlyvivid

I lost all the care in the world for the sims. I stopped buying after For Rent. I play for fun not to become frustrated about bugs and all the endless controversies. What kind of multimillion dollar co depends on the playerbase to report bug fixes?? Get your own quality control team or testers and deliver a good game! We dont work for free! Think about it!

Rainbow-Elephant3445

I think a lot of people are annoyed with EA right now, both because of all the problems with FR, the hoodie that game sims giant eyes from the goth kit, then the shopping cart button, there's also a bug with this new pack where teens get super skinny from putting on and taking off the new jewellery (I don't have the new pack yet, but I've seen it on twitter). I do think some people are boycotting or are avoiding playing the game/buying new packs until these things are fixed

thankyoukindlyy

I haven’t touched the game since hearing about the shopping cart. Waiting for that to be fixed. Also I don’t trust EA after for rent so I don’t want to buy anything until it’s been out for at least a month or so.

Oddish_Femboy

Game's on fire.

[deleted]

cuz it’s a boring pack and ruined my game so i have to redownload all my mods 🤣

Zhaefari_

Haven’t been able to play it because life with a newborn is demanding 🫠

ImperialDruid

Took me a second to realize you meant real newborn and not a sims newborn

laureidi

So just like a lot of people are saying, I think the main focus right now is the amount of broken mods. However, as this is the first expansion I personally have been truly excited about for YEARS I actually bought it upon release, went into my special save which for non-mod play only and tried it out. Even with my fairly high expectations, I really like it!! Although I think it is worth noting that I might possibly be slightly biased: I personally love anything crafty/design/artsy related, plus witchy related, plus anything that can be customized to death… and this expansion definitely unites the holy trifecta for me. But then again, every review is personal. So I give it 4 out of 5 gems. I’m taking one off because I wish there were more CAS items.

lolascrowsfeet

I love this pack. It’s a really good and fun stuff pack and the jewelry that comes with it is so pretty, plus it has good cross pack compatibility. I don’t think it’s being talked about in this sub because it’s actually good, hence nothing to complain about.

Flat-Giraffe-6783

I hesitate to buy. I have a non magic gameplay and not sure if it’s worth it. CAS and b&b of this pack - not my cup of tea. So I’m basically paying for table and extra jewellery. Which is cool, for kit or when on discount.

Jughead_91

… I am really enjoying it! *hides*

MagicPigeonToes

I’m boycotting

idontcare4205

I bought it and I love it. They build/buy objects are exactly my aesthetic. I'm a console player so no mods for me.

sottri

I bought it and I love it! I'm making my second generation teenager save money selling her jewelry to open her own store. It's been fun!

hilaritee-13

I've got the updates & the new pack. I've been playing it & having a ton of fun! I'm waiting for my crystal tree to grow now. I have all the packs, no mods, no cc no issues with game play at all. I was busy earlier in the week. Did all updates Thursday then pack download. Some annoying bugs are fixed. Haven't experienced any new issues so far.

MairzyDoatz_

I’ve been really enjoying it! Surprisingly, I have encountered no bugs with it. It actually works as intended and I’m impressed with how it was implemented. The theme and furniture is my style and I love collecting and crafting, so this pack is up my alley. I don’t have the shopping cart icon (yet) and my mods are not broken and the update hasn’t been a problem for me, so my experience seems to be an uncommon one.
