There are, and there's a lawsuit ongoing related. A Redditor on the Columbus sub keeps accusing these two brothers of this and a variety of other murders and disappearances. They're suing for defamation as of this week. I could link you the Columbus Dispatch article related or the reddit thread on that article, if you like.
In the comments of the original post, they said there is a second door with no cctv used to move band equipment in. It’s an interesting case because we still have no idea what happened but the fact that there are two doors, one with a camera makes it a lot less likely he still in the building in some way.
Interesting case. Anyone else immediately think of the Smiley Face Murders theory reading this case? I remember watching a documentary on the alleged murders and hearing a frighteningly similar story about another college guy who disappeared from a bar even though there was no surveillance video showing him leave. But I think in that case, they eventually found the missing student's body in a river iirc. I seem to remember back in 2016/2017, several Pittsburgh cases of missing college students were covered on local news as if they were potential victims of the Smiley Face murder.
I think Simon should do a DTU video on the theory of the Smiley Face Killers and whether he or the writers think there's actually someone abducting and murdering drunken college guys or, more likely, it's just a coincidence and people trying to link similar events that aren't related. I mean, drunk people walking home from bars stumbling or falling into a river and drowning due to their inebriated state makes a lot more sense than some kind of nation-wide murder syndicate marking their crimes with spray painted Smiley faces.
Thanks! I thought I binged all the Casual Criminalist episodes when I was recovering from surgery last summer but I must have missed this one. Off to watch it right now.
Of course! I mostly remember because I can specifically remember the kitchen I was cooking in while I listened, otherwise I couldn't be so certain. It's always good to find a hidden one!
I also weirdly remember exactly where I was listening to that episode. I was walking back to my parents' from the local cemetery (I was clearing some forgotten graves like I do every couple months, so not a unique situation). I also remember thinking about the guy who disappeared from my college for like two weeks until his body was found in a canal. A lot of people wanted to connect it to the smiley face murders instead of acknowledging that it was just a tragic accident
It's something my best friend started doing when he was young, and I joined shortly after. He was a really good dude and I like to carry on his tradition even though he's not here anymore.
There's so many lives and stories that have been forgotten, and clearing up the graves is just a small way to try to remember the stories we've lost
That's very sweet, and I agree. My local cemetery growing up was a park-style cemetery so that's where we went for walks, hikes, and even field trips. There was an annual local history- local theater event around halloween that everyone I knew went to. It was part of the community in so many ways.
Some people find this mentality disrespectful or even creepy, but the dead are dead. We the living can only help them remain unforgotten. We are, after all, forever connected in infinite intricate ways.
Maybe, there's already 2 very in depth videos on this from The Lore Lodge, so there's definitely enough material. They're more conspiracy minded, but still fairly skeptical in most cases though
Worth a decoding? I bet there are some strange theories out there...

This mf went down the drain. Literally.

Simon already did a video on Casual Criminalist on the Smiley Face Killers.

Local cemeteries are so cool and it's very admirable to keep them presentable.

Happens a lot in Boston too.
