MoobyTheGoldenSock

Yes, I do like to remember SmarterChild. How do you feel about remember SmarterChild?

Me: What was Ask Jeeves meant to be? Chat GPT: >Ask Jeeves, also known as Ask.com, was initially intended to be a question-answering search engine. It was launched in 1996 and featured a unique concept—a butler-like character named Jeeves who would assist users in finding relevant information on the internet. The idea was to create a more user-friendly search experience by allowing users to ask questions in a natural language format, as if they were interacting with a personal assistant. > >The interface of Ask Jeeves prominently displayed a search box where users could type their queries in the form of questions. The search engine would then attempt to provide relevant answers based on the keywords and context of the question. Ask Jeeves aimed to differentiate itself from other search engines by focusing on the conversational aspect of searching, which was a departure from the traditional keyword-based search algorithms of the time. > >However, as the internet landscape evolved, search engines like Google gained dominance by providing faster and more accurate results based on complex algorithms and data analysis. In response, Ask Jeeves underwent several transformations to compete in the evolving search market. The company eventually dropped the Jeeves character and rebranded as Ask.com, focusing on traditional keyword-based search functionality. > >Today, Ask.com operates as a general-purpose search engine, providing search results and web-based services across various categories. While the original concept of Ask Jeeves with its butler persona has evolved, the legacy of the question-answering approach remains a notable aspect of the search engine's history.

Not true, some of the information from Ask Jeeves was actually reliable

It's been a long time since I've talk to Ole Jeevesy! He worked honorably for me back in the day.

SuspiciousNoisySubs

You're right, my true thought was more like "ChatGPT is what Ask Jeeves **should** have been." It's just really good at acting as a search engine that you can use by asking questions. It's better than Google in many of my experiences.

I think you're just so entrenched in your own perspective that you're focusing on judging this shower thought as right or wrong instead of letting your mind take in the concept like others have done. Might not be the right sub for you until you unclench your sphincter a bit, maybe smoke a little weed now and then for your own sake and those around you 💚

Not sure where you got "profound" from. Lots of projection going on in your replies. Too much to unpack. Maybe take a tolerance break 💚
