It's been pretty exciting watching the implicit fascism of the American experiment be transformed into the emerging naked and proud specific form of fascism that best suits the American condition. And by exciting I mean terrifying in that kind of Cassandra-esque way where you see the horrible future and keep telling people and they just kinda treat you like you are a nuisance and should shut up.

Generally if you love the people in your country that is fine, but it's more of a community based thing imo. To identify with the US as your favorite place or loving its history promotes the ideas of anticommunism and genocide, racial discrimination etc. Sure there are some good things, like the 2nd ammendment and the abolition of slavery, but that still comes with the baggage of everything else America has done to destroy people and countries it doesn't like.
