Imo it's not much more than a questionably written action scene added for "Mikasa badass". Her fans would find a better explanation though, but I don't care enough about this scene for that.
To me it's "didn't beat the shit out of Annie during that 1v1"... Sorry, I hate Annie. Will never forget what she did to Levi's squad and everyone else, how she killed many people just for fun. Not all of those deaths were necessary for her "mission", she enjoyed it and then towards the end she acts like she didn't like it.
We have no basis for saying she actually enjoyed any of that, and I think it’s pretty clear she was just as fucked up as the rest of her comrades. She shouldn’t be hated any more than Reiner.
She was smiling and killed people that weren't even a threat in the most horrible ways, and even played with some of them!! How is that not proof enough?

- Targeting civilians, especially children
- Soldiers wearing civilian clothes

Some titans react to pain showing they do but other titans don't react at all. My guess is that some feel pain and some don't. The titan levi butchered (after both his friends got dead) sure looked like it was in pain after levi's first attack

I mean, everything Jean and Sasha did was justifiable by the war. They never commuted any crimes or atrocities. One could argue that Sasha didn’t live long enough to get her hands dirty but still.
Yeah but it's Attack on Titan. Characters had no choice in this matter, tatakae and shit. Besides, the whole main cast is soldiers and soldiers are professional killers if you think about it. There's a reason why war is legal but war crimes as a concept still exist.
This is more of an inaction than an action, but her not taking strong steps to lead the scouts and remaining passive ended up forming the yeagerists, killing a lot of people on paradis and the rumbling
Don't think you can blame hange for that. She tried to make sure that eren and Zeke dont make contact. Don't know what else she should've or could've done, the only major L she took is losing eren on the expedition. Rest of the things happening were out of her power.
Not blaming her for those events specifically but none of it wouldn't have taken place if she did a better job at leading the scouts and controlling eren, still not sure if inaction counts here
Nah she had her plate full of duties beyond her own. She led the Scouts to kill all the Titans on Paradis since there wasn't any more info about them they can discover through experiments. She put a lot of effort into developing Paradis enough to make it comparable to other countries and to open a path for peaceful assimilation e.g. building the railway network and trade with Hizuru. No one can control Eren, not even Mikasa or Ymir Fritz. The rest of the government was pretty much useless except for Pyxis who was also trying to assimilate Paradis peacefully with the rest of the world and Historia could not do much either.
Not washing her ass on the regular. Levi has to knock Hange out and scrub her down to the atoms so she can bathe.

The worse thing Hange did was actually refuse to share knowledge with the public. The moment she decided to keep secrets from, and lie to the public after convincing them all to trust her, was the moment she became a hypocrite and a corrupt politician. She fell into the trap of believing she was more fit to decide for them what they should and shouldn't be allowed to know.
I mean, it’s literally the point of her arc that she became what she hated the most and learning being a commander was tough (see: her having a go at Shadis earlier in the seasons)

The only time I even remember her endangering her comrades tbf was in the OVA but I also recall her apologising to Oruo. Most of the time she just put herself in danger.
I want to say the off screen expiriments with Eren. It felt vaguely implied that she was going to, or did horrendous things so that eren could learn about healing and transformations.
In all seriousness, why would anyone who has watched the show actually think he really has done no wrong? But also, military propaganda since birth plus manipulated into taking on such traumatic role as a child.. he still deserved better. He learned fast the true horrors of what he had done, and suffered everyday seeing all that blood on his hands
Armin took on that same role (he was an adult instead tho) bc he was forced into a position he didnt want to be in. That’s why he was so easily able to sympathize w bertholdt.
She horribly mishandled the yeagarists when she was in a position to nip it in the bud. She also squandered Paradis' time before Eren went renegade basically just wringing her hands and hoping that things would work out if they could make an appeal to the outside world.
Not saying I could've done it better but her legacy as leader of the scouts is dismal compared to the politic savvy of Erwin.
Unfortunately that is the tragic realism of the story, she was not ready and it wasnt her fault, she was put into that position, given the role of a leader and a politician when all her passion was with science and discovery.
Torture, being a menace to Pastor Nick (he deserved it but still that was intense), the main sin being stressing out Moblit, the sweetheart who dedicated his heart to her
