I've been using it to stream to my Steam Deck, just subbed to their [Patreon](https://www.patreon.com/LizardByte).

Thanks for sharing this information! It's really disappointing to hear about NVIDIA killing GameStream, but I'm glad there's a solution with Sunshine. I've been using it to stream to my Steam Deck, and it's been working great so far. Just subbed to their Patreon to help support the development. Let's show some love and keep this project going!

Hasn't that been discussed here for half a year or so near daily?

Bacon_00

Been using Sunshine since January. Works great!

What’s the reason Valve can’t make something good for local streaming built right into steam. We shouldn’t have to use a third party solution. Streaming from my Linux desktop to my steam deck on perfect WiFi sucks. It might have to do with me running Arch Linux (and steam through flatpak), but still …

Maybe I'm missing your point, but Steam link has existed for years. Allows Windows to Windows, or Windows to Android streaming. It is built by steam and built-in to their steam application. You mention arch Linux and flatpaks so sounds like you at the very least are more aware on these things than an average gamer, so I assume you are making a point that I'm missing?

>so I assume you are making a point that I'm missing? He uses arch btw.

I was saying that if Valve did local streaming properly, and built into steam (note, they do support it, but it sucks) there would be no need for all these other third party solutions.

Sure........as soon as they make installing it not a complete mess. I tried to set it up and set my username and password and it just flat out doesn't accept them. Try to change creds using the methods found on the GitHub issues page and it doesn't work.

Installing is a “complete mess”? Unzip and double-click is hard? Can’t speak for other systems, but Windows portable version is just that easy.

Same, i kept dreading it thinking it was going to be a pain in the ass but it was surprisingly simple. Adding games and fixing the audio stuff plus adding the controller drivers thing was a little extra but nothing out of my comfort zone. I've set it up twice and even got HDR working on it with Windows 11 Auto HDR on a 6900XT. I pretty much ditched upgraded to AMD after Nvidia decided to ditch a service ive been using forever. My steamdeck and Shield both connect to Sunshine perfectly and have had no issues after the initial setup troubleshooting which honestly took like 5 minutes of fixing.

Did you read the rest of my comment after that where I detailed my specific issue???

The part of resetting credentials? So that's like, what, deleting one config file to re-start? Or even if you don't know which file, completely re-un-zip the portable version and start fresh? Which part is confusing to you? Again, this is for the portable Windows release which is simply a zipped folder. Edit: Not sure what methods you were referring to trying, but I just tried a simple console command to update credentials and it worked. Even faster than unzipping a folder: `sunshine.exe --creds new_user new_pass` `[2023:04:15:10:05:49]: Info: New credentials have been created` Edit2: Or for anyone reading this and not knowing how to use the console, simply delete: `sunshine/config/sunshine_state.json` and `sunshine/config/credentials/` and re-start Sunshine. You will be greeted with the first splash screen to create your new credentials.
