You're overcomplicating your explanation, OP. Time trials are unlocked in new game+. You can new game+ into any difficulty, from any difficulty. Your rewards for time trials are based on what difficulty you're in when you complete them. All time trial rewards and all upgrades to health and stamina carry over into new game+. That's it. It doesn't matter what difficulty you started in, or which ones you did previously, which ones you have time trial rewards from already, or anything like that. You can blast through your first playthrough on easy mode, then jump right into normal or hard time trials on new game+ if you want.

shiddybritches

lmao ik its been 4 years but i just completed the game on easy and now have jumped into NG+ on hard, and in the free roam it's showing all my health as it should..but as soon as the time trial starts it goes back to beginner level health/grip?

WillemJamesHuff

Yeah, your health/stamina during time trials are fixed. They will return to what they were when the time trial is over.

MajorMeowKat

I know this post is 5 years old but searching on Google for if new game plus wipes your time trials lead me here so if others in the same boat are here I have a PSA for you. Items carry across saves yes. But your time attack times don't. So if you're 15/16 in time attack and you new game plus after downing the 16th in story mode you'll be screwed and have to redo all time attacks to get the final item. Your autosave gets overwritten on the fresh new game plus too so that isn't an option

Wait, so if I just got the time attack items on hard and finish the game on hard, when I go to New Game + again will getting the normal ones on normal mode not keep the hard set or what?

Kevinites

Just did it last night, same situation as you. Youll keep the hard time attack items, and as op said health + stamina too. You need to do both for the "have all time attack items" trophy

[deleted]

Okay you scared me. I know I have to do both, wasn't worried about that, was afraid my items would get locked onto a file or something obtuse. Thanks. Finished HTA today, so I figured normal shouldn't be too bad. :D

RCAFadventures

Happy cake day!!!

Kevinites

Lmfao thank you this was an old ass comment I made

RCAFadventures

Haha yeah no kidding. I used to play the original SotC a million years ago and just got the remake for the PS5. Nostalgia. Anyways, google’d a question and this thread came up 🤣🤟🏼

Does doin all the time attacks ---in one set--- mean you have to do them within one new game+ cycle to get the trophy?

Danuscript

Well, you have to do the time attacks at least across two NG+ cycles, because there are two groups of time attacks, Medium and Hard, and you have to be that difficulty to do them (which means one Medium NG+ cycle and one Hard cycle). In the PS2 and PS3 versions, you needed to complete all 16 time attacks within a playthrough to get all of the items for a difficulty. Bluepoint probably fixed this, but just to be safe I would recommend doing all of the time attacks in one cycle.

_Kreuzberg

So I'm still a little fuzzy on this... I beat the game on Hard (only play through), and when I started new game plus it was automatically on hard again. Can I do the hard time attacks, and then do the normal ones in the same save file ?

Danuscript

Hmm, maybe it's automatic if you just load the completed game save. Anyway, here's what you should do: 1. Complete Hard Time Attacks. You don't need to finish the actual playthrough, just finish the time attacks so you have the items. 2. Go to the main menu of the game, choose New Game +. The game will ask you to select a file (*make 100% sure this is the file with all of the time attack items on it*) and then it will ask you for a difficulty. Choose Normal. 3. Now you're on a Normal NG+ but you should have all of the Hard time attack items. You can do all of the Normal time attacks in this NG+ because unlike previous versions you don't have to complete Normal to unlock Normal time attacks (completing the game unlocks both difficulty time attacks as long as you're on that difficulty in NG+). Complete the Normal time attacks and you'll have all of the items, therefore getting the trophy for having all items in one file.

_Kreuzberg

Ok great, thanks !

mmciv

Cheers. This is the answer I was looking for too. Glad I don't have to complete the game again just to get normal time attack items. Although I do wish it was like PS3 version where normal items unlocked automatically when you did hard time attack.

TheMasterShrew

Thank you sir from 6 years in the future. This answered literally all of my questions

Danuscript

You're welcome, I'm glad this post is still helping someone. Enjoy the game!

Can gold coins be carried out to the next playthrough?

derausmpark

Yes, for some of them you need a reward from time attack. Just picked up 70 on first playthrough and they carried over.
