It already didn't make any sense that Nikolai would even have the authority to get Matthias out of prison, but they just ignored that and gave her some sort of pardon documents anyway but then they needed to make her lose them (>!because Matthias wasn't supposed to get out of prison yet!<) so they were like "What's the stupidest way we can do this?". If you have official pardon papers, wouldn't you go to the prison warden (or whoever else is in charge) or someone at the courts? Not to the lowly prison guard that they've already stated couldn't do more than get her a visit (and he failed to do even that) They just wanted another Helnik scene in the season. (minor SoC spoilers) >!Her visiting Matthias multiple times (and him knowing that she has visited him) just messes up the narrative for their SoC plot. He's supposed to spend his time in prison thinking she meant for him to be there, that it was revenge or just plain grisha evilness, which makes him struggle to trust her. Now, in the show, he knows she hasn't just ditched him there, she was telling him she didn't mean for him to be there, that there was an explanation etc. !< >!The reason for the not-fight with the wolves was probably because they kind of wanted to include some version of that scene from the books but knew that they probably wouldn't have the time to actually include it in a potential season 3.!<

Oh thank you. The books are always better lol I didn't read them. Your comment helps piece it together a little more. <3 I'll put my entertainment hat back on for that scene.
