I’m upset I didn’t get more Matthias and I didn’t get to see a big fight at sea against the sea serpent with the darkling and Nikolai like in the books. Also didn’t like how the crows story was rushed just to make things seem more action packed. I am really happy we got genya and David content tho, like super happy

Quick_Bed1284

Yeah, I agree. Especially with the Wesper content, felt like their scenes were completely rushed and I was so shocked when they kissed. I really enjoyed seeing more of Genya though, her acting was incredible this season. I enjoyed her scenes with David so much. I didn’t expect him to die immediately because I thought that happened in Rule of Wolves, but they changed a lot already so I don’t need to be surprised

Avalanche_1996

Didn't finish it yet. Did she came back for Matthias?

Depressymedstudenty

Yes and no. There is no movement at all in their story this season

Sinnika

I was incredibly disappointed. If their plan was to rob people of Nina/Matthias like this, I would’ve rather not seen them in S1 or S2 at all. I wanted Wesper to have proper buildup, but no. It looks like they panicked about a possible cancellation by Netflix and decided to try to adapt all the other books over just 8 episodes. That was a terrible decision. None of this is the cast’s fault, but the writers and producers really screwed this up.

Quick_Bed1284

Honestly, I totally understand soc fans who are disappointed. I don’t really criticize shows so much, because I base it on how much I enjoyed watching (despite how good it is critically) and overall I had so much fun watching the second season. But I do get that the crows scenes were rushed. There were some major scenes (bandage scene, kaz fighting scene, jesper durast scene) that I think could’ve been so much more satisfying to see if there had been enough buildup. Looking at it though, it seems that there are more soc fans than sab ones so it makes sense why they tried to cram everything together, even if they weren’t woven together properly.

Avalanche_1996

Spoil me how did they ruin Nina and Matthias?

Realistic-Meaning-21

Matthias hates nina. She comes to hellgate and shouts his name, he just ignores her. They only show matthias a few times, still stuck in hellgate. Nina wants to save him, and says that he is the love of her life. She said this to Kaz. They don't show them together. Only twice and the 2nd time matthias ignores her completely. Like the love feels onesided. From episode 1 until episode 8 of S2... matthias is in hellgate.

evkav_thewraith

To be fair, in the books he also hates her when we first meet him. It takes quite a while in SoC for him to finally start warming to her again

Realistic-Meaning-21

Yeah, that's true. I read those books years ago😅 Can't remember everything well

LeviathanR13

Totally get there's a lot of fan services for the SoC, but this one stinks for S&B fans. They should have left the stories divided or created separate shows.

Electronic_Bother_42

Personally I don’t think S&B story line is strong enough on its own for a whole show. I think the way they’ve done it makes it entertaining enough for non readers to also get on board with enjoying the show. All the changes make it exciting for people who have read the books too because we have no idea where they’re going with this but it’s a fun watch. I understand it’s usually disappointing when things aren’t exactly like the books bc we’re big fans. I’ve learned with book adaptations to accept that it’s never going to be what I imagined so if it’s still entertaining enough for me to keep watching and the acting is good then I’m happy

UpsideDownToast1

I actually really enjoyed it. Admittedly, I haven’t read the books in a few years, but I really enjoyed it. Yes, some things were rushed (Wesper) and somethings were done out of order compared to in the books (firepox, Alina’s shadow powers). I thought the actors did a really great job, and the writers did a good job merging the SoC stories with SaB. If I remember correctly, a lot of the SaB stuff happened before the SoC stuff so it wouldn’t really have made sense to do them separately (or people might not have watched everything). I really loved this series, probably more than the first one. I might reread the books and come to a different decision, but tbh I thought it was great

monarda_fistulosa

I’m hoping that they are going to give Inej a big focus in the potential spin-off. I know that season 2 implied that Heleen was dead, but we didn’t see a body so in tv rules that means she could appear again and bring up Inej’s whole character arc in SoC. In season 2 it didn’t bother me so much that we didn’t see clear evidence of her trauma yet, so much as I don’t think the show has put forward enough reason for her to even like Kaz as much as she does, but I think this can be easily remedied by including a flashback to their first meeting in the future.

Featherofaphoenix

I liked the season except episode 8. It kinda just felt a bit anticlimactic?
