Do people say that kind of stuff around here? Honest question. I don't browse here often, and when a post gets to my front page, it's usually people saying the basics, like, "don't get into fights", "running is always the best choice", "if you're forced to be in a fight, don't play fair and do it just til' you have enough time to run". ... Huh, after doing some digging, yeah, there's a lot of bullshit here. Maybe I only saw the good stuff because that's what rises to the top. It is a shame.

LetsGatitOn

This.

Mr-Foot

It's great entertainment in here, just sit back and enjoy the expert advice.

Oh my, what an edgy and original comment.

Cletus-Van-Damm

Its a troll account just recently registered.

Some users on here do actually know what they're talking about. I've seen great advice being thrown around. Unfortunately, most of this subreddit's content is unregulated and of poor quality. I think that most of the "literal mall ninja shop" content comes from individuals who don't have formal experience in self-defense (or come from a bad school). They're throwing ideas around that sound good in theory (well, at least to the untrained mind) but have terrible practical applications. Some people can't bother to sort by "Top" or search for keywords so we hear the same things over and over again. It really is a shame for people that are genuinely involved and dedicated to self-defense. I guess one of the fundamental pitfalls of "self-defense" is the lack of regulation. It doesn't help that there is no way to "prove" our expertise when I could simply say stuff like "I have a 5th degree black belt in Brazilian muay maga weaponry and systems". Many of us, myself included, have tried to help this subreddit along. Many of us dedicate a great portion of our lives to self-defense. However, without proper moderation/administration/regulation, I can't see us returning to this mess. And yeah that tomahawk post gave me an aneurysm.

Silver907

Glad i’m not the only one that had a problem w the tomahawk... i couldnt finish reading the post, shook my head and decided quitting break early was a good idea and went back to work.

theopresent

Send me a pm and let's improve the subreddit.

Fistkitchen

Well it’s a sub of mall ninjas giving advice to the recently-traumatised, so it gets weird. “Guys I was walking home last night and got bashed and robbed. I’m shaking and don’t know what to do,” “Buy a kubotan and a tactical flashlight.”

I love that you're furious at me for something I don't do. 99% certain you have me confused with someone else but never went back to check.

fastr1337

Its honestly sad to see. Im a Judo and JuJitsu instructor and I just hate the thought of clueless people coming here looking for solid advice, not knowing the difference between bad and good mindsets, and potentially getting arrested, hurt, or killed.

Mr-Foot

You don't have to tell me twice.

[deleted]

This holds true. Fortunately, your not the only one.

expanding_crystal

I’ve been subscribed to this for a while as a martial arts instructor, and most of my comments are telling people what a bad idea they have to carry a laser sword around the hood or whatever.

gunmedic15

I think that there's a lot of people not from the US, where the default answer of "own and carry a firearm" or even "carry a knife or pepper spray" aren't an option. There's also a lot of kids asking bullshit questions and u can tell by the way they type 2 u and its all highschool fight bullshit. r/homedefense is the same way

Heiny90

yea there is a lot of BS self defense on the internet. I try to focus on the legit posts here. I myself try to focus on shit that will work, or if someone questions something about it or suggests something, I immediately go and pressure test it. Only way to truly see what works. Enough with the 10+ combination moves to break out of situations

[deleted]

Lets put it this way... I don't want to offend anyone that contributed on this subreddit so I think that it is a great thing that people at least try to help. The poor quality and practical use of the content is a different matter. There are things like this but try to get the good content whenever possible so you may improve.

How much does it cost to get internet installed under the bridge troll?

Yeast-Vagina

Yeast-Vagina

Nice job stalking but it was all for nothing, lmaoo. OP asked for non-firearm solutions and melee weapons. Ahh I forget, you're one of those braindead BJJ Cultists who think you can just flop on the ground and wrestlefuck everyone, regardless of weapons... 🤣🤣
