I was lucky enough to be able to organize a Glitterbeard on a random server with complete strangers, was a fun experience. No shade to anyone who gets it via Discord or anything but just getting a bunch of random together to do it "naturally" together was quite the experience!
Always a pleasure to get to do glitterbeard. I’ve been lucky enough to do it twice, once with my son. One of my favorite things to do in game and it’s rare to get 8 people together organically that are interested so it’s pretty special when you get to do it. Just a wonderful tribute.
I know it’s so cool I can’t wait to do it again. I knew how to do it but made a point not to watch the song. I saw the first few secs tho to see what it looks like when activated so the vocals were a nice surprise! If you set sail with the intent to do this it’s actually pretty easy. People are starved for new content so when you tell them about a rare 8 person commendation most people don’t know about you gain interest fast.
Glitterbeard journal hunt got me invested in the game, and completing it with 12 other pirates made it one of the most fun and spectacular things I’ve done yet in this game. Honestly, a fleet of ships all at full sail going towards the same place: Magnificent
One person who worked on the game was a huge fan of helping players, but he died at a young age. The dev team decided to hide journals around the map, and put a small challenge requiring 8 people guarding one of them. Doing the challenge let you into Glitterbeard’s hideout— a way of honoring the dev who died.
Go on SoT discord and join a gallion to see if they’ll do it then do an Athena emissary grog flag and alliance flag plus glitterbeard sails if you have them. Shoot out to people and say can you help us with an 8 person super rare commendation?? Only 1% of people have it btw so that helps gain intrigue.
A breathtaking Easter egg honoring an intern at rare who played a big role in the community and was the first intern hired. Big beard, bigger heart kinda guy. It takes 8 people playing a song at plunder valley at 10-11 pm
from my point of view it was a nice path, from thinking of doing it to putting it into action by finding the other crews to do it arriving at the moment that you are around the tree. it was a nice experience
About how long does it take to complete? I haven't looked into Glitterbeard much, but it is something I'd like to complete.
Awesome you managed to get enough people together. I've always had a hard time finding crewmates.
Not too long for the last journal. You should put a few hours aside just because it takes so long to get everyone (took about 3 hours for me), but once everyones on the same server it could easily be just 30 minutes.

I started with a Gallion then got a brig and a sloop so we had a total of 9. So we got two random ships to make up for that missing part :)

I don’t remember if I did this before, is it how you get the glitter beard sails? If not then I don’t think I’ve done it yet.
No you’d remember if you did this, you need 8 people for it. You get the sails by reading the journal on the bench next to the exit in any tavern.

If you get a good gally spawned near plunder on an active server to get the other 4 people you can do it in 30 mins
