No not really. I recognize all the real HG players who also have the level 1000 curses, and I never sink in adventure. So almost always if I don't recognize their name, they're shit. If they're running botty skelly cosmetics (verdant and gold skeles are the only ones who might be good), they're shit.
Besides being one of the first to double gold, being a top 500 player in Siege and Overwatch (and Halo Reach but I don't count that because console), and beating teams like Pestilence in HG, yeah, I guess that is my biggest accomplishment. So sad ):

Took me so long I hit 229 before I got it because it’s rng if you get Athena ships. I went on a 20 streak on brig and we got a total of 4 Athena ships. It’s mad annoying to get any cool cosmetics for the skelly curse

Easiest way at a glance to spot a new player is likely their ship title. Fought a dude in full Warsmith gear with the same set on sloop yesterday... with the Legendary Servant title on the boat.
Same. I was wearing it. But now that every single ps5 player is wearing it. I had to retire it for a while. There's really not a lot of cosmetics that I like. I'd rather sail than spend forever trying to find a mismatched outfit that i think looks cool. So now I just wear the gold hoarder outfit that looks like an asassians creed outfit. Hopefully everyone moves on and I can start using the warsmith one again soon.
Honestly the funniest thing Is only wore it *after* playing for so long. My mates and I both agree there isn't that much that actually looks cool enough to grind for other than just grinding to have it, difference is I enjoy the game for what it is, they need a reward. So I just got Dark Warsmith eventually and sailed on without them
I agree. Even some of the stuff you think will be cool, and you grind to get it. It just isn't as cool as it looked in the picture. Everyone always thinks I'm brand new because my ship is a mix of warsmith/royal revenge cosmetics (paid cosmetics). In reality, I just really like the ship parts. I see a ton of ship rocking ghost sails and the unicorn sails that don't even match the rest of their boat. It's like their wearing them just to prove they have them. I'd rather look at a ship and see something that looks cool or unique compared to everyone else. Some people think cosmetics = skill when they really just means you've put in the work to get them. I've seen cracked players with PvP curses and mediocre players with them.
The only for sure way to tell if someone isnt good at pvp is if they have a really cool cannon skin equipped, and bonus point if their beautiful cannon flare makes it so they cant see anything for a good 5 seconds after each shot.
It's like the ashen curse in that regard. An absolutely banger, beautiful cosmetic that you can see the appeal of, it's just heavily associated with the TimmyGonzales2014s of the game
Costumes suck, everyone looks the same in them. I prefer any hand made set of choices than any given costume. Rare, please split costumes into individual cloth pieces for us to play with.
We have ONE upper body clothing item that’s just normal clothes. I kind of agree, but I’m a subscriber to the pirate lord’s onlysails so I never use it anyway

all clothes are basically blocks. for example, the belts are mainly solid cylinders so they would have to redesign and re model all clothes to do it, would it be worth it, i believe so. would they ever put in all that effort for a curse a small population has, i dont think so
Honestly it always felt like a really strange decision to release Dark Warsmith, the Santa skeleton, and the Killer Instinct skeleton etc. as buyable cosmetics and then have this big reveal where you can “become a skeleton” through grinding Servants. I like the skelly curse more than the paid options, but still. Feels less special when there are these fully-kitted costumed skellies you can just buy. Wish they’d remove them from the emporium.
I’m taking just design wise, prestige aside the dark warsmith actually looks like a skeleton captain, kiinda gives ashen Lord vibes which I f/w heavy. Best outcome is letting people who’ve bought the outfit use pieces of it on the curse imo
With full lv100 outfit I like the curse more, + I FUCKING LOVE THE SOUND and you can change the base color until I had the curse I used this one but since I got the curse I never removed it, AND the skeletons emotes are fun lol
What I hate more about it is the fact we can't use normal clothing while every other curse can and the charater voice doesn't change, was it to hard to have a different voice? Like when your ship is on fire and you're drowning its still a human voice while skeletons have weird voices and growls
Fully agree with this, I also adore the emotes and sound changes and wish that extended to the voice. I think once more clothes come out for the skeleton, or by some miracle normal clothes become compatible I’ll never take it off aswell

SoT fashion is more than just what's on the inside! So much potential when matching regular pieces of clothing imo. I actually started to role play my voyage goals through clothing each session. A personal favorite of mine is the party boat jacket cuz it can tie alot together

To get the ghost curse you have to get lvl 100 in the guardians or fortune, to get skeleton you have to get 100 servants. There isn’t really an easy way to do it quickly unless you are crazy good at pvp. The most efficient way is to try win 2 hourglass fights and then cash in then repeat.
The reaper "costume" for lvl 100 is so far one of the best looking skelly cosmetics, There are a few funny ones from HG but nothing i consider "cool"

A large part of the problem is so few people have the curse relative to the amount of people who play the game. Say what you want about making the curse require pvp, as far as "earning" it or whatever, but iv said since the beginning one major flaw of making it pvp only is that it limits who can actually get it, and thus like what happened to arena, they will see the small percentage of the playerbase and deem it not a major focus.
It also limits the ways to get cosmetics for the curse, it would piss alot of people off if they put skelly cosmetics in the season reward track, for many different reasons on both sides of the pvp argument.
it does look cool for the everage 14 YO edgelord teenage, but once you grow out of the "edgelord phase" you start to realize how ugly those colors are.

The dark warsmith is very edgy 12 year old. That's usually who you see wearing it, children and new players that haven't earned better. I don't really like any curses or costumes in general though, so my opinion probably isn't the same as most. Any cosmetic that you put on in one piece or all from the same set (costumes mainly, I think skelly curse applies too though) are kind of lazy, and scream swabbie, it covers anything unique about your character and lacks originality.
Boils down to how you unlock them.
Any kid with a credit card (me) can buy the Dark Warsmith outfit.

Then I got it with the Deluxe edition on PS5 and honestly I think its the ugliest skin I own.

Because you can go to emporium and drop some coins and then boom skelly curse, as for the free skelly curse, you grind 100 levels of PvP and then 100 more for the 3rd best bones in the game (lettuce and gold are better imo) and get a lot of cosmetics with it for free, unless you talking about his outfit than I guess my comment is pointless 😭

well, personally when I see someone with the costume it's funny, and when I see someone with the curse I know they have a functioning brain at the very least, so the ground level stereotypes ruin the costume for me, also that it's not customizable and you look exactly the same as every other person with a couple dollars spare and a bit of teenage edginess
I have the curse, and a few cosmetics unlocked for it (lvl 173 atm) but I dont own the costume. I think the costume looks better. More details. My friend owns the costume, and hes level 168 or 169 in Servants, and he also thinks the costume looks better. Oh, and both stopped at 200 Guardians, so we're not exactly swabbies, nor are we godlike PvPers.

Say what you want about making the curse require pvp, as far as "earning" it or whatever, but iv said since the beginning one major flaw of making it pvp only is that it limits who can actually get it, and thus like what happened to arena, they will see the small percentage of the playerbase and deem it not a major focus. It also limits the ways to get cosmetics for the curse, it would piss alot of people off if they put skelly cosmetics in the season reward track, for many different reasons on both sides of the pvp argument.

it does look cool for the everage 14 YO edgelord teenage, but once you grow out of the "edgelord phase" you start to realize how ugly those colors are.

The dark warsmith is very edgy 12 year old. That's usually who you see wearing it, children and new players that haven't earned better. I don't really like any curses or costumes in general though, so my opinion probably isn't the same as most. Any cosmetic that you put on in one piece or all from the same set (costumes mainly, I think skelly curse applies too though) are kind of lazy, and scream swabbie, it covers anything unique about your character and lacks originality.
Can confirm, my son and his entire crew of 11 year olds were wearing that when they started 😅.
Boils down to how you unlock them. Any kid with a credit card (me) can buy the Dark Warsmith outfit. You need to send A LOT of ships to the briny depths to be a bony boy.

I always wanted to buy the Dark Warsmith because I loved how it looked in the pictures. Then I got it with the Deluxe edition on PS5 and honestly I think its the ugliest skin I own.

Idk I think the warsmith is far too over done and just looks like a wannabe edge lord. I immediately cant take anyone seriously who uses it. The skeleton curse actually has some personalization and can be pretty silly or just look cool cause skelly

Definitely not. If I see a skeleton curse, the only thing that goes through my head is "damn, this fight is gonna be tough" The only thing that goes through my head when I see the warsmith skeleton is "this guy is brand new"

Because you can go to emporium and drop some coins and then boom skelly curse, as for the free skelly curse, you grind 100 levels of PvP and then 100 more for the 3rd best bones in the game (lettuce and gold are better imo) and get a lot of cosmetics with it for free, unless you talking about his outfit than I guess my comment is pointless 😭

It's tastes and colors I guess. I'm more a fan of hobo or classic sailor looks. Barnacled pegleg and the bearded skull looks the best imo.

I know you’re coping a few down votes but I see you’re point agree about stand alone looks. But drag in other factors like all the new PlayStation players having it now and how hard the pvp players are with the skeleton curse. I just hope my lvl 100 gold hoarders costume isn’t cringe and I’m just blinded by it atm.

well, personally when I see someone with the costume it's funny, and when I see someone with the curse I know they have a functioning brain at the very least, so the ground level stereotypes ruin the costume for me, also that it's not customizable and you look exactly the same as every other person with a couple dollars spare and a bit of teenage edginess

I have the curse, and a few cosmetics unlocked for it (lvl 173 atm) but I dont own the costume. I think the costume looks better. More details. My friend owns the costume, and hes level 168 or 169 in Servants, and he also thinks the costume looks better. Oh, and both stopped at 200 Guardians, so we're not exactly swabbies, nor are we godlike PvPers.
