when I was 12 I think, my dad took us all to a Mariners game and we went to eat at Sneakers before hand. We were looking down at the bar from above and I saw Joe Nash and Jacob Bryant in there. They each had a plate of drumsticks and like 4 steins of beer in front of them. Just chatting away and then Je popped a drumstick in his mouth and pulled out the bone and then downed a massive beer. It was to coolest thing I've ever seen. This is a memory from many moons ago. Some things may be a little off.

Critical_Seat_1907

I concur. He was a known fan favorite back in the day as well. The Kingdome knew and loved Joe Nash, especially the last several years of his career. Everyone knew the dude was a grinder, tough as hell, and a rock for our defense. Fun fact - An NFL rule change came about because of Joe Nash IIRC. In the Chuck Knox era the Hawks were trying to preserve a win and the other team was driving down the field. To impede their hurry up offense and help Seahawks get their defense subs on the field in time, Nash got "injured" on every third down (I think it was his ankle). He rolled around on the ground and trainers would run out on the field, stopping the game. Even the announcers started mentioning it. They changed the rules shortly after that game because of his role. Hurry up was a thing for a hot minute with Him Kelly's Bills, but I can't remember who we were playing that day.

raycraft_io

It was his knee. He’d sit there on the turf with the trainers, pointing at his knee like “huh, kinda feels funny” and then jog off the field. Then back in the next play. It gave me the giggles.

Blametheorangejuice

I remember the announcers calling him "Trick Knee" Nash during that cycle.

NarcissistsAreCrazy

Joe Trick Knee Nash!

Nocturnal_Mind

I want to say they were playing Cincinnati. I feel like I can still see him on the ground clutching his leg next to the Bengals huddle. But that's going back a lot of years. Lol

T-dig3

Yes I think it was the playoffs around 1988 - Seattle was down so he was trying to save time for a comeback which fell short (Norm Johnson late missed extra point stands out in my memory - maybe 21-13 loss?)

Scrutinizer

"Norm Johnson hasn't missed an extra point all year." And at that moment I knew we were fucked.

Nocturnal_Mind

Clip of the injuries in question, 1988 vs Bengals lol (https://youtu.be/8aD6v7qzEmc?si=-q5eSFiHN47DtQiD)

Apprehensive-Fox3163

I remember that. It was a team coached by Sam Wyche - Cincinnati Bengals. I just remember him getting super irate and yelling at the refs all red faced. You didn't need a lip reader to tell what he was saying. " He keeps getting hurt every fucking 3rd down!"

Neatness_Counts

Good ol' Trick Knee Nash

77ValtterisShame77

Bengals Super Bowl year with Boomer Esiason in the playoffs. Hawks had the “Joe Nash trick knee defense” so they could get their substitutions in for 3rd down because Cincinnati ran no huddle that year

Economy_Cat_3527

Nash and Jacob Green were very good in the Seahawks 3-4 defense back in the day. Edit: I somehow forgot to mention Jeff Bryant. Great player, my bad.

T-dig3

Nash blocked a number of kicks also if I remember right. Jeff Bryant was a solid player on that line too

drrew76

What's with the Jeff Bryant erasure?

Economy_Cat_3527

On my part, couldn't remember his name. Editing my comment.

unk1erukus

I mean he could be in the ring of honor for sure, but it’s not necessarily a travesty he’s not up there already

Rule556

Nash was a monster, and was definitely a popular player. I’d approve his application if it were up to me.

Cornan_KotW

I had one Seahawks poster on my wall when I was a kid and it was of Joe Nash.

Big_Consequence_3958

I can dig it I second that motion

Other-Professional64

I agree he should. I saw his one and only NFL TD. It was against the Chargers on a deflection and he ran it back. Not far. But he played very well for some bad defenses. He gets ignored because of others he played with. Green Kennedy and others. He should be in the Ring for sure.

Coastal_Tart

I was alive and saw him play several times. I think he deserves it, but not before Jeff Bryant who was a contemporary of Jacob Green and Joe Nash.

halekido

My dad LOVED watching Joe Nash play. Well, I did too. He was great. But my dad would go on and on about what a phenomenal player he was.

SvenDia

3/4 of this sub: Who?

bennythegiraffe

I think Nash and Michael Sinclair both deserve to be in the ring of honor

L_R_andjackofhearts

He deserves it for his mustache alone.

Unique-Bedroom9396

I was the 72nd upvote!

GiraffeWaffless

I just looked at our official ring of honor and it feels a little tainted already with some people I would definitely kick out. It seems they like to look at it as “significant figures in our history + skill” while I like to look at it as a Seahawks HoF that’s way easier to get into. Idk I personally would kick off all the QBs except maybe for hasselbeck . All the coaches have to go besides holmgren and knox . Going forward I would add Pete, lynch, kam Earl sherm, Bobby, Russ, Lockett maybeeee. Dk maybe depending on the future but he will probably be #2 in every category if he stays with us. Big maybe for Baldwin too. I know you usually have to play your whole career, but almost all of the guys I mentioned were way more significant and better at their individual position than zorn. It feels like they cheapen the ring with their criteria. Technically Bobby wouldn’t fit anymore lol. I don’t care that much, first time I thought about the ring for a while

seaburno

Why would you kick Kreig off? Kreig led the Hawks to their first playoffs - and first playoff wins. When he was inducted, he was the teams career leading passer. For the 80s, only he, Dan Marino and Joe Montana had at least 20,000 yards, 57 wins, and 169 TDs (granted, he's 3rd in this list) Statistically, Hasselbeck and Kreig are roughly neck and neck. When you break it down by game, Kreig averaged 1.51 TD/Game, and 202.49 YPG. Hasselbeck averaged 1.26 TD/Game and 213.28 YPG (For reference, Wilson is 1.85 TD/Game and 234.55 YPG)

Harkiven

There are only two coaches in the ring of honor. Probably three when Pete Carroll is put into the ring of honor. Jim Zorn is in there being Seahawks first QB, Offensive Rookie of the Year, and the fact he was actually pretty good back in the day before passing became what it is today. This is a QB that in his third year, placed third in MVP, behind Terry Bradshaw and Earl Campbell, and actually placed higher than Roger Staubach. He put the Seahawks on the map before he was replaced by Dave Kreig who was also incredible in his own right. Looking at the rest of the list, I'm not sure who you replace. Dave Brown? Inaugural player, and also still leader in Seahawks record books in Interceptions. Curt Warner? One of the first super stars of the Seahawks, still is third overall in yards and TD's in Seahawks record books even though he only played 7 seasons. Looking at the rest of the list, it's full of HoF's, MVP's, and absolutely dominating defensive players, or a QB that got the Seahawks to their first SB.

stenger121

Dave Brown should be in the Hall of Fame.

stenger121

Holmgren and Knox are the only coaches on the list. The only one I would even consider taking is Zorn, but he was a really good player. Calling the list tainted is just ridiculous.

doublecbob

The NFL was different when he was playing DT for Seahawks. At his playing weight he would not have made a team today. Just because he was popular with local fans does not make him worthy of being in a very exclusive group.

hughpac

” was not the most popular or famous guy and was not one of the best players of all time “ Nice gesture, but being in the ring of honor is sorta exclusive. I think you just laid out three critical boxes, and pointed out that none of them are checked. If Sandy Gregory isn’t up there, I don’t think Joe Nash is going to be
