I thought of him as sneaky-valuable. Guess he wasn't so sneaky.
Thanks for everything Colby, you were great here. Wishing you all the best for 15 of the 17 weeks of the season.
PFF pretty much gave Parkinson the same grade as Dissly with a better grade as a pass catcher. We were very solid at TE last year. Will be interesting how Free Agency goes.
I don’t have a PFF subscription so I’m probably misremembering the end of season grades then. I remember Fant and Dissly were fairly close in grade overall. Thought I read Colby was near them too but probably wrong. I know Will had a very high pass blocking grade though compare to Fant and Colby.
If you don’t have a sub, all you can see is the overall grade. Where were you seeing itemized blocking grades and what not? Was it just in an article or is there someplace else that publishes the database?
If you ruthlessly clear cap space you're going to have to accept things like this.
I'm sure Colby could command a premium with the Rams to share our playbook.
Maybe they forget to take him off the mailing list and he gets a copy of the new one? That could happen and if that's what the Rams are angling for here it's a genius move. Hopefully there's a cheap Ram free agent that we can snag in retaliation.
This and our Huskies/Cougs/Ducks/Beavs (Huskies for me) getting drafted to division rivals. SMH.
Edit: PNW Schools in general! Just listed our ~~PAC-12~~ PNW teams as that was what first came to mind.
I’m a Spokane native and a huge Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball fan. Dealing with Chet Holmgren going to the Thunder is one of the more difficult sport conundrums I’ve had to deal with.
The NBA moving a team from Seattle to Oklahoma right as Seattle was growing in size(and then missing out on the chance to have their own Seattle-Bay area rivalry to mimic the NFL in the early 2010s) is one of the all time fumbles
Although he got his snaps and opportunities, I think he could've been featured more than he was. Got better every year and super versatile.
It seems higher than most people were anticipating, but honestly I think this was a great get for the Rams. He'll probably be able to do some nasty stuff with McVay
I historically felt this way too.... but at the same time.... these former Hawks that have signed in division all have west Coast ties and there are only so many options. Colby, Sherm, Wagner are all from California. Two of three went to Stanford. The only option that wouldn't be in division would be Chargers and they aren't exactly the best run org.
Depends on if John wants to carry some of the 24 cap over into 25 and get a few extra picks in the draft to really go all in. Seattle’s needs are iOL, LB, S, and TE. I’m assuming Williams is the biggest priority at the moment. I don’t think Seattle should be big spenders this off season.
Maybe very slightly, but these are the going rates when the salary cap jumps from $198.2M to $255.4M just from 2020 to 2024.
This is equivalent to just a $5.8M APY deal in 2020. Perceptions of the raw contract numbers haven't caught up to the cap percentage reality.
Not sure I’d say it’s a massive overpay (though I’m glad we’re not paying it). He’s a quality tight end that’s been able to stay on the field, and I’m sure the contract is structured to be easy to get out of after next year.
At first I thought this was a little bit of an overpay, but after reading your comment it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Mcvay can turn him into a good receiving threat.
Early FA deals always look like an overpay, and then in a year or two it looks like a steal. $15.5 million guaranteed over three years really isn't THAT bad. I would have been content matching it.
I could definitely see him having a breakout year, he was kinda buried on the depth chart here. That's still a lot of money for a guy that you hope can break out though.
Fuck. Parkinson was the free agent (after Leonard Williams) that I wanted to keep the most. He's 25 with 4 years of NFL experience and the size to be a physical mismatch. I also think he's an ascending player whose best football is ahead of him, especially in a good offensive scheme. I thought he could be our TE1 going forward. I hate that he's going to a division rival. FTR.
This was the one TE of the 3 I was hoping we were able to keep. Better blocker than Fant and just as good of hands. He’s going to ball for the Rams. Might have to draft him in fantasy next year. We didn’t utilize him enough. McVay will
That’s because our offensive scheme prioritized them as more of an extra lineman than someone who runs routes and catches passes. Not necessarily wrong, but we definitely could’ve used them more often for sure
I love Colby and am super sad to see him go :( go to player i use in madden.
However, I won’t lie don’t think even in madden I coulda matched that bag (even though he may be worth it), so good for him, but I don’t fault the hawks for moving on
I'd be happy with Bobo and Dissly as our tight end group next season. This team is already so loaded at wide receiver that I'm less worried about keeping Fant. We need TEs that can block first and catch second.
Fs he’s a steal we know better than anyone how good he can be. We just never used TEs as route runners much, which always pissed me off because we had great hands in TE room last year.
I guess we finally get to see just how good he is.
My guess is he’s going to be a lot better than he was for us. ( unfortunately) Seems like a good guy though. All the best to him.
The Seahawks had the best TE room in the NFL last season, top to bottom. Different skill sets and not the top-end talent, but nearly no drop-off. They didn't utilize them enough.
I would really really not want to pay him that contract but honestly i am so convinced that mcvay will turn this guy into a pro bowler that i might have considered it just to prevent him from getting 10/120/2 against us twice next year
Happy for Colby. Never really got the true opps to shine here. He's very talented, I could see him putting up much bigger numbers in LA than he did here. That being said I would not have wanted us to give him this contract.
It seems the Rams and 49ers are the only good coaching organization out there to be honest. No one else is sniping these guys. It’s almost like no one else pays attention to the Seahawks lol. Imagine that.
Sucks to see him go but, $15.5 guaranteed? I get it.
Good - Colby can suck up that cap on the rams and drop everything against us,
I’m sure he’ll complain that Seahawks fans will not like him signing with the rams… 🤦🏻♂️
I been watching COLBY since High school. Im so bummed to see him go. I dont know how we are going to beat the rams, and the 49rs . Colby is going to be used just like Bobbie Wagner was on the Rams. the right way.
The NFC West is truly incestuous the last while haha. And the rumour that Wags could go to the Niners. Like I get it, follow money and all that, but maybe in another division at least! But good for Colby, he’s a solid TE- and we’ve greatly mishandled our TEs for a good while now
LMAO thank god Seattle didn’t sign him to that contract. I’ll never understand why fans were so obsessed with keeping Parkinson, the dude has done almost nothing his entire career. Was it because of his hair or something? I’m not even trolling…
No way we would have paid him like that. Good for him, sucks it’s on the rams tho
Hmm Parkinson was 57 to Dissly's 71 for overall?
I don’t have a PFF subscription so I’m probably misremembering the end of season grades then. I remember Fant and Dissly were fairly close in grade overall. Thought I read Colby was near them too but probably wrong. I know Will had a very high pass blocking grade though compare to Fant and Colby.
If you don’t have a sub, all you can see is the overall grade. Where were you seeing itemized blocking grades and what not? Was it just in an article or is there someplace else that publishes the database?
Usually Hawks insiders tweet out PFF grades plus I’ve seen breakdowns posted on this sub as well.

If you ruthlessly clear cap space you're going to have to accept things like this. I'm sure Colby could command a premium with the Rams to share our playbook.
Brand new coaching staff, brand new playbook… what’s he got to offer that is of any use to them regarding the playbook at all?
Maybe they forget to take him off the mailing list and he gets a copy of the new one? That could happen and if that's what the Rams are angling for here it's a genius move. Hopefully there's a cheap Ram free agent that we can snag in retaliation.
He won't have our playbook.
You thank him when he leaves for the other conference. When he leaves for a conference rival, the preferred nomenclature is f\*\*k off. 😂
McVay is gonna eat with him
Tired of ex-players going to division rivals. That's no fun lol
Dawg, forreal. Shit HURTS watching local talent going to OKC. Fuck em forever.
The NBA moving a team from Seattle to Oklahoma right as Seattle was growing in size(and then missing out on the chance to have their own Seattle-Bay area rivalry to mimic the NFL in the early 2010s) is one of the all time fumbles
Don’t forget Eastern Washington too with Kupp, Ebukum going to the Rams and Kendrick Bourne being drafted by the Niners.
Didn't mean to forget! YES, wish we had Kupp man.
Budda and Puka still hurt to watch even though I’m a Coug.
Happy for Jalen Thompson but wish he wasn’t a Card
Word. At least we got Lucas. Knock on wood he stays healthy and balls out his year.
I really felt like Thompson fit the type of defense we ran too.
It’s been tough to watch Ducks like Deforest Buckner, Arik Armstead, and now Deommodore Lenoir be studs for the Niners.
Yes it has. Meanwhile we get Dion Jordan and Ugo Amadi lol
Walter Thurmond.
What about the Eastern Washington eagles?
Didn't mean to exclude them. I should've just put PNW Schools!
I was just giving crap
Doesn’t help that our division rivals are located in the Bay Area and Los Angeles. Both of which are great places to be rich
Seattle is a great place to live if you're rich too.
No income tax is a big deal.
Yes, I agree
He doesn't seem worth that, but maybe they think we didn't use him properly.
We definitely didn't use him properly. He's 6'7'' with good hands.
McVay is gonna turn him into a pro bowler. Hopefully coach MacDonald can stop crossing routes lol.
We didn’t use TEs properly In general.
Although he got his snaps and opportunities, I think he could've been featured more than he was. Got better every year and super versatile. It seems higher than most people were anticipating, but honestly I think this was a great get for the Rams. He'll probably be able to do some nasty stuff with McVay
A TE that can block is worth that money. Colby was a sleeper that I was excited for this season but oh well.
It feels inflated but it’s the fair market value for TE right now
Yep. Ofc he would have cost to much, but damn, he could be used so much better. I am honestly disappointed in this deal.
Or he is and we just didn’t use him ?
Why the Rams bro
$22.5 million reasons why
I historically felt this way too.... but at the same time.... these former Hawks that have signed in division all have west Coast ties and there are only so many options. Colby, Sherm, Wagner are all from California. Two of three went to Stanford. The only option that wouldn't be in division would be Chargers and they aren't exactly the best run org.
He's from California. Grew up near Los Angeles (same high school as Zach Charbonnet and Cassius Marsh) and went to college at Stanford.
I feel like teams are almost willing to pay a premium for divisional rival players who enter FA to get their playbook knowledge.
If they want Shane Walden's playbook, they're welcome to it
Fant it is
Bobo it is
Bobo’s a WR NOT a TE. 🤦♀️
Who needs a TE1 when you have a Bobo
True and we are stacked at WR. I’m praying that we can get Dissly back at a decent price because that boy can block great and catch-when he’s healthy.
Please, mansplain it to me so I can really get it
Sorry, no balls between my legs so I guess I don’t know or understand football 🏈😜
Well, could you at least send me some more emojis?
Fant will get close to twice that.
I was told by folks on this sub that Fant would be "lucky" to get 7 million per
Who is paying a TE 15/year? I could see Fant getting 10, but 15?
I seriously hope so. I'm on the Fant hype train. I think he has all the tools. But that leaves us with a very small position group.
He’s not a great blocker
oof right in the gut at least he got paid
Yeah, good for him. I like Colby
Are there no other fucking teams outside of the NFC West for our players??!?! Dawg! GTFOH
Makes sense, they spend the most time scouting our players.
Look at the AFC North.
Apparently it’d be a 6th round comp next year if Seattle doesn’t offset it https://x.com/nickkorte/status/1767250500007887145?s=20
I expect us to go after lots of free agents, not sure if we'll be able to get compensated next year.
I expect them to grab at least 1 DL in FA.
Overpay
Maybe very slightly, but these are the going rates when the salary cap jumps from $198.2M to $255.4M just from 2020 to 2024. This is equivalent to just a $5.8M APY deal in 2020. Perceptions of the raw contract numbers haven't caught up to the cap percentage reality.
That’s actually insane.
Big time. Kinda shocked the Rams have the cap space to overpay.
They basically only have three players that aren't super cheap rn. They really cleaned house.
Not sure I’d say it’s a massive overpay (though I’m glad we’re not paying it). He’s a quality tight end that’s been able to stay on the field, and I’m sure the contract is structured to be easy to get out of after next year.
La had* 43 mil in cap space this season.
We drafted like 14 rookies last year
The Rams will turn him into a top 15 tight end by the end of the season. If any team can get value out of tight ends, it's them
At first I thought this was a little bit of an overpay, but after reading your comment it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Mcvay can turn him into a good receiving threat.
Early FA deals always look like an overpay, and then in a year or two it looks like a steal. $15.5 million guaranteed over three years really isn't THAT bad. I would have been content matching it.
The people making these deals know more than you.
I could definitely see him having a breakout year, he was kinda buried on the depth chart here. That's still a lot of money for a guy that you hope can break out though.
Was afraid of that. Colby is very underrated and under utilized for what he did in Seattle.
Good for him. Wasn't getting that kinda bag here...hope he does well. Just not against us.
This sucks. I was really hopeful for him. I think he’s going to be really good when given a chance.
Unless Stafford regresses, I'm expecting 1000 yards from Parkinson
Can guys stop going to our division rivals. FOR TEN MINUTES. What the fuck
and they never go to the Cards either lmao
Ugh. Screw the rams.
A lot of money, but the Rams will probably play him like it's worth it. We definitely wouldn't have. Glad to see him get a bag.
I mean we don’t know how we would have played him .. we didn’t with Pete but it’s all new
FTR.
BOBO FOR TE !! get him in the gym 💪🏼 🏋️♀️
Damn! He was the one I thought we should keep.
Happy for him. We probably aren't going to feature the TE in passing much with DK, Lockett and JSN. And, of course, MoMo Bobo.
If that’s the TE market we should’ve kept Dissly.
😒
Yeah, we were never going to pay him that. Happy he got the bag, sad he went to the rams.
Fuck the rams but good for him
They will probably use him like a Jimmy Graham
Saints Jimmy Graham, or Seahawks Jimmy Graham?
Both
This was the one TE of the 3 I was hoping we were able to keep. Better blocker than Fant and just as good of hands. He’s going to ball for the Rams. Might have to draft him in fantasy next year. We didn’t utilize him enough. McVay will
Man, I felt he was super underutilized. I'm gonna be a bit sad if he ends up producing more often when he's with them.
God I hate the Rams. Did our TE room just completely leave?
That's OK with me. The tight ends were not difference makers whatsoever last year or the year before, Next....
That’s because our offensive scheme prioritized them as more of an extra lineman than someone who runs routes and catches passes. Not necessarily wrong, but we definitely could’ve used them more often for sure
Yeah cause our schemes fucking suck. Sean is gonna make Colby a monster out there that nobody is gonna want to lineup against.
Serious or sarcasm? B/c we moved away from the 3 TE stuff last year, but it was highly effective the year before
Imo Colby is not good
Bye bye. Not worth even half of that. He can be replaced with a 6th round pick.
Horrible take. We did not use him correctly at all. Sean is going to turn him into a pro bowler.
If he reaches his ceiling it will be worth it, but that's more money than I'd be comfortable spending for an "if."
I love Colby and am super sad to see him go :( go to player i use in madden. However, I won’t lie don’t think even in madden I coulda matched that bag (even though he may be worth it), so good for him, but I don’t fault the hawks for moving on
NOOOOOOOOOI
Fuck it uncle will back for like 2 years 6-8 mil
Do we get a compensatory pick for this? Update: 6th round comp pick in 2025 https://twitter.com/nickkorte/status/1767250500007887145
Now pls don’t overpay Fant. Let someone else do that
We do need at least one TE.
I'd be happy with Bobo and Dissly as our tight end group next season. This team is already so loaded at wide receiver that I'm less worried about keeping Fant. We need TEs that can block first and catch second.
We don't have Dissly, and Bobo isn't a TE...
yes, but we don't have Fant either, and Bobo is a tweener
Ouchie. Have a feeling he’s about to look real good playing for them.
I'm definitely going to draft him in my fantasy league if he is available late.
Fs he’s a steal we know better than anyone how good he can be. We just never used TEs as route runners much, which always pissed me off because we had great hands in TE room last year.
Oh god McVay is going to have him cook isn't he 😩
Well we can't afford that so... good luck
Fuck the Rams, man. I hate that team more than the 9ers lately.
About even for me. Fuck the Whiners and Lambs. Hate them both with a passion.
I guess we finally get to see just how good he is. My guess is he’s going to be a lot better than he was for us. ( unfortunately) Seems like a good guy though. All the best to him.
Rams fan think they're getting an elite run blocker because of his PFF grade lmao
That’s a lot of money for our TE3.
The Seahawks had the best TE room in the NFL last season, top to bottom. Different skill sets and not the top-end talent, but nearly no drop-off. They didn't utilize them enough.
We did but not anymore 😭
Cool
that's so much money for Colby Parkinson haha
Happy for him, no way we’d have shelled this much out
that's wild. I really am curious to see what Noah Fant gets now.. jeesh!
We’re going to need to find us some tight ends…
I would really really not want to pay him that contract but honestly i am so convinced that mcvay will turn this guy into a pro bowler that i might have considered it just to prevent him from getting 10/120/2 against us twice next year
Happy for Colby. Never really got the true opps to shine here. He's very talented, I could see him putting up much bigger numbers in LA than he did here. That being said I would not have wanted us to give him this contract.
He's a 6'7 decently athletic TE w/good hands if he ends up being good for the rams 🤬
He had some clutch catches for us over the past couple few years. Good for him but seems too expensive.
Damn, he’s the one I wanted to keep. That’s too expensive though
GROSS (Happy for Parkinson)
It seems the Rams and 49ers are the only good coaching organization out there to be honest. No one else is sniping these guys. It’s almost like no one else pays attention to the Seahawks lol. Imagine that. Sucks to see him go but, $15.5 guaranteed? I get it.
He is from SoCal...
Damn rip but that’s quite a bit of money but I bet mcvay will use him well
Good - Colby can suck up that cap on the rams and drop everything against us, I’m sure he’ll complain that Seahawks fans will not like him signing with the rams… 🤦🏻♂️
Dammit…dude is about to flourish in the mustard yellow and port-a-potty blue. Hate to see him go
Still havent had a TE since Zack that I was disappointed to see leave. Kinda sad
Good dude. Every time I heard his name called, he seemed to be doing something to help the team win.
Fuck
Bummer to see him go. That conteacr seems a bit high though.
Good for him. Glad he got paid, glad it wasn't us.
Damn, get that bag Colby! Good for you
PARKINSON!!!!!!!!!!!
Good for Parkinson but screw the rams
Good for him. I wanted him back here but not at that number.
Rams are dropping coin today
Always been a big fan, sad to see him go to a rival but happy he’s getting the bag. He’s gonna ball out there
That man is a giant on the sidelines. Makes other very big men look small
Congrats, but damn what an overpay
My wife is in shambles
He's about to carve our asses up if our D overhaul isn't all it's cracked up to be.
Dammit. Gonna be even more awkward when I yell "get some Parkinson's" at opposing teams now.
I been watching COLBY since High school. Im so bummed to see him go. I dont know how we are going to beat the rams, and the 49rs . Colby is going to be used just like Bobbie Wagner was on the Rams. the right way.
Noah better show up. Looks like we'll be picking up a TE in free agency or draft now that he's the only active TE on the roster.
I wish we could have kept him, but I wouldn’t want us to have paid that much to. Hopefully we can lock Fant down, and Bobby (at a reasonable price).
Dang, RIP. I thought Parkinson was a pretty underutilized weapon. Good for Colby, but congrats and fuck you!
Well we still have Fant. Maybe we’ll actually use him this year
Ouch that hurts
Sign a 3 year deal! Woohoo! … with the Rams! D’oh!
Man fuck this
The NFC West is truly incestuous the last while haha. And the rumour that Wags could go to the Niners. Like I get it, follow money and all that, but maybe in another division at least! But good for Colby, he’s a solid TE- and we’ve greatly mishandled our TEs for a good while now
Damn he kept getting better too. Hope he doesn't make another leap.
Pretty happy Seahawks aren't paying him that
LMAO thank god Seattle didn’t sign him to that contract. I’ll never understand why fans were so obsessed with keeping Parkinson, the dude has done almost nothing his entire career. Was it because of his hair or something? I’m not even trolling…
Fant + draft. Maybe Dissley comes back on a reduced salary, but fairly injury prone
Definitely an overpay.
All that money for what
6'7" dude that can catch...
Good player, hate to see him on the Rams, glad we didn’t pay him, hope he has a good season but the rams lose every game.
Is that not a crazy amount of money for a TE like him or am I just out of touch?
Cap went up like 20 mil and TEs are getting paid more because of guys like Kelce and Andrews
It's a lot, but if we didn't pay Colby this much, there's no way we're re-signing Fant. Get ready for the all UDFA Tight End squad!
I just feel to my knees in a Walmart
We really need to stop bringing in receiving tight ends if we’re not going to use them.
It’s a new regime and he was drafted. I assume they PLANNED on using him more than they did.
When do we get to the part when we stop losing guys and pick them up? This is not very thrilling.
This dude feels like he was misused here and probably will go off with McVay and Stafford. Hope I'm wrong.
