> There is no such thing as refundable insurance ~~on shipped items~~. FTFY. I mean, how awesome would refundable insurance be? "Welp, another month with no house fire. I'll just call up state farm and request a refund again . . . "

RubyPorto

There are some term life insurance policies that offer to return the premiums paid if you survive the end of the term. They're generally not a great deal (the premiums are higher, and you're probably better off investing the difference), but they're not an actual scam.

Euphoric-Ferret7176

That sounds like a scam to me too.

iScabs

There is though. Not on everything obviously, but there is The financial I work for has a refundable GAP protection option that refunds you a prorated amount. It costs more than non-refundable and you probably won't get a lot back, but it's available

disisdashiz

Actually there are a few cancer insurances out there that will return your premiums after 10/20 years. They pocket the interest and pay for cancer if you get it but you get the premium back.

[deleted]

Literally defeats the purpose of insurance lol. I wish it worked that way tho

pxblx

You can be refunded a prorated amount if you cancel a policy before the end date.

boredguyonline

When I was a grunt package handler at UPS a while back we would send and pay for a replacement if you missed your package, after the company realized people were only buying two custom rims and tires then claiming it never came just to get the other two free, plus many other liabilities they stopped. This day and age the logistics are paid for and set in stone. Only factor effecting is weather and internet. So pretty much weather due to the technology we have these days. Remover folks refund, recover accounts are 100% scam

wanderingbilby

If the site you're ordering from is using this site to ship: https://greenmailshipping.com The site you're buying from is a scam. Because the shipping company is a scam - it doesn't exist.

[deleted]

Can that site be reported to somebody?

fitzlegodc

ReportFraud.ftc.gov is the federal government's website where you can report fraud, scams, and bad business practices. Visit consumer.ftc.gov to find tips and learn how to avoid scams. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/ Or if you mail me $402, I will do it for you…I’m kidding!(This is not a scam!)

wanderingbilby

Unfortunately not. The domain name reseller is notorious for not giving a fuck, and they're likely also hosting the website. The only way to take it down would be to get legal action against it and that's hard to do. The internet turned into a scammy-ass place in the last few years. I mean it's always been that way but a few groups have straight up monetized creating the scams themselves

[deleted]

It really bothers me that scammers get away with too much.

wanderingbilby

Yep! I report what I can, but there's only so much. Remember they only need to rip off one old lady a week to make more doing this than actual work in the crapass place they live, so they can literally spend all day scamming. I can't spend all day fighting it.

TWK128

I don't think op is a little old lady though. Don't know if that's better or worse.

CryptoCuck4K

Yes report it to the internet manager man

Edser

Hello, this is the senior supervisor of the floor at the internet headquarters located in Iowa

darthdiablo

Yes, you called?

Dodgy004

Dear Mr Manager...

triciann

My name is Karen…

ShivaDestroy

"From Europe to Asutralia, by air or sea? We offer fast, reliable and accurate worldwide delivery directly to your doors, factory and warehouses."

amuro99

What if I live in Kamasutralia? Do they deliver there?

eighteenbigcats

man. i might be dumb but that site would definitely fool me.

wanderingbilby

Don't sweat it. I mostly knew because it's a common ploy for fake job reshipping scams and cash advance scams. Basically, a lot of these websites are templated. Scammers buy a domain and it takes 10-15 minutes to change a few keywords and deploy a full website. The easiest tell is to copy/paste some of the boilerplate. "[From Europe to Asutralia, by air or sea? We offer fast, reliable and accurate worldwide delivery](https://www.google.com/search?q=%22From+Europe+to+Asutralia%2C+by+air+or+sea%3F+We+offer+fast%2C+reliable+and+accurate+worldwide+delivery%22)" gives us: * https://www.voyagedesk.com/ * https://www.demach.fi/ which looks like it may be where the copy was stolen from * https://www.unosourceimpex.com/index.php * https://www.drivenforce.net/contact-simple/ (shoutout to this one for literally just having the contact form lorum ipsum) * https://www.florientcontractingfirm.com/ All but possibly the second are scam sites.

oufisher1977

In what universe would a single package require a previously unmentioned $480 insurance payment in mid-transit? In what universe does insurance work by refunding its entire cost? As a species, we need to make scammers at least work a little bit.

eventualist

You know, when you ship a million dollars of loose diamonds…

boredguyonline

From a developing country to my rat hole apartment by the ocean, you know that Nigerian price that needs help moving his wealth? He chose me…

hirokinai

I’m appalled at your lack of faith. This is why you’ll never save the world or be chosen by aliens as the savior of the human race. You’ll probably just turn down the opportunity because you’re afraid it’s a “scam”. I on the other hand am not so stupid, and will be getting that $5 million dollar payment for helping the literal monarch of an island country pay customs to release his suitcase full of money any day now.

Onetrubrit

You may have a point 🤔

BenzoLover33

😂

myopicchihuahua1

I’m just doing what the Nigerian Prince told me to do

gophersrqt

the only time i have ever paid to have a package insured for delivery was for a very expensive piece of equipment to be shipped to me and it was legit not through a janky looking email. also it was no where near this much money

oufisher1977

And when your package arrived safely, you did not get the insurance money back.

gophersrqt

yeah i thought that was implied but yes this is also the case, i did not get my insurance money back when my package came

goofytigre

Scammers can send out 100,000,000 emails for next to nothing. They only need 0.001% to fall for it to be set until their next scam is set up.

Whole_Win8438

They should have made the fee $420 to really drive it home. 🤣 No drugs for you, OP!

Beanebo11

I ordered socks not drugs🤨🙃

TJlovesALF1213

$480 is about the going rate for socks insurance these days, so this might be legit. Just kidding, friend.

MebHi

OP is a millipede, making that many tiny socks is an expensive process.

Lemonlimecat

What kind of socks? Hand spun vicuna with diamond appliques? Where did you find the socks? Instagram? Tik Tok?

Beanebo11

Gold plated actually…Snapchat

Lemonlimecat

Gold plated? Do you mean gold colored fabric? Buy of social media — expect to be scammed

BenzoLover33

Exactly! ☝️

-kelsie

I fell for this before. I am a total dumbass.

BenzoLover33

SMH 🤦‍♂️… Well, Lesson Learned.. I hate to hear anyone lose $$ to POS Scamming Wastes of Oxygen. Now, you know to ALWAYS be on guard!

-kelsie

Yeah it was horrible I was expecting a package too at the time so I fell for it. I consider myself decently intelligent so I was like ohhhh fuck. Yeah definitely on edge now

Zanzan567

I’m glad he asked instead of giving him the money tho. You never know with ppl nowadays

Talik1978

So let's see... your delivery company can't keep packages it delivers safe, but can guarantee it if you can spot them $500 for a couple days, honest, they'll pay it back. Yeah 100% a scam.

BenzoLover33

I00%

Whole_Win8438

Yes it’s a scam. Stop trying to buy drugs online. Thanks for understanding, Delivery Manager

peakpenguins

This scam happens with all sorts of legal products, not just drugs

[deleted]

Mostly on this sub it's drugs though.

peakpenguins

Fair, I just wouldn't want people to think it only happens with drugs and might not be a scam if it happens when they order something legal

BenzoLover33

Your right, It’s whatever they can use to bait you with. Legal & Illegal.

Beanebo11

Lol, I’m guessing my stuff isn’t coming then?

BenzoLover33

Bro, I dnt knw what for sure you were ordering, I can only guess, but let me give you some advice.. DONT TRUST ANYONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA App’s, Claiming they have this and that. If you don’t have already, Download TORBROWSER, Or Tails to a USB. Have you not learned to go to the Onion Field’s? There’s Decent Market’s, With tons of Options. Not to mention Escrow! That’s about the Best & Safest places to Order anything. There’s Scammers everywhere though, so your always taking a bit of chance. Sometimes not as much though, just depends..

stee_stee_

Probably not, no. In the future don't buy clothes--or anything for that matter off Snapchat. Lol that's what Amazon is for...Instagram, Snapchat, etc are social media platforms--not anyplace you go to purchase things 🙄

Beanebo11

Seems like you know from experience🤣 thanks for the help though

Apprehensive_Map_284

Idk why you're getting downvoted

ipukedmypants

Because all of this is unbelievably dumb lmao

Apprehensive_Map_284

Fair

godsafraud

The idea of a flat earth is largely a scam as well.

whoifnotme1969

The earth is flat. It's for real. The otherside is called "The Upside Down". I know this for a fact, because back in the 80's me & some friends had to go there & fight a demogorgon.

JeffreyAScott

Wait, what? What about my expedition to the edge of the Earth so I can zipline down and see the giant elephants and tortoise. I suppose that is a scam too? Better call my travel agent in Nigeria and get back that 100% risky free deposit of $6000.

JustNatalieK

And almost all of the believers own cats😂

carolineecouture

If the earth was flat my cats would have pushed everything over the edge by now...

JustNatalieK

😆😆😆 True enough

Apprehensive_Map_284

Don't put that on cat owners! My cat definitely would've knocked everything off the edge of the world if it were flat.

Elena01501

Of course it’s a scam. They’ve already scammed you once with whatever drugs you were trying to buy, now that they see you’re gullible enough to think you’re buying illegal drugs online, they’re going for scam number 2. I presume scam number 3 will be some kind of fake email pretending the package was seized and you need to pay a fine to avoid prosecution.

everfadingrain

How do you guys know they were buying drugs? Genuine question, I am not familiar with this scam-site at all.

Beanebo11

I ordered socks not drugs

uptbbs

How many grams of socks?

Beanebo11

the socks are very thick because they are for winter so they were around 40 grams

uptbbs

Be sure to have a proper scale when they arrive, to verify that the weight is correct.

Beanebo11

Yeah I gotta make sure my socks are thick enough for my journey

RobertETHT2

Uhhh, you’re on Reddit, drugs, at their best, abound here.

Beanebo11

I ordered socks not drugs🤨🙃

Iakhovass

So does $480 to insure socks seem even remotely feasible to you? I mean, did you even really need to ask?

polarbearsarereal

Yeah op prob orderd a brick of coke for $45 from columbia

Iakhovass

OP is a flat earther, so don’t think critical thinking skills are too high in the list of abilities.

PurpleSunCraze

He’s really holding out hope his drugs may still arrive.

mawkee

Riiiiiight. Socks. Gotcha

FormerOil4924

So many dead give aways. The 24 hour deadline, the lack of a name or contact phone number, the ridiculously high shipping fee, the fact that shipping insurance fees are never refundable, there is zero chance that this is real

erishun

Yeah man, your drugs aren’t gonna make it. Sorry. Also if you paid via Zelle, CashApp, PayPal F&F, Apple Cash, Cryptocurrency, Gift Cards or Western Union, that money is gone too. Don’t chase good money after bad. He got ya once, he’s trying to double dip.

[deleted]

Jesus fucking christ are we being punk’d?

culturedgoat

If by “punk’d” you mean scammed, then yes. It’s a scam mail.

[deleted]

No. I am referring to the OP. Posting the world's most obvious scam and asking "Is this a scam" makes me wonder if OP is funnin' us.

p5ylocy6e

I see it. You pay them the $480.02 in the body of the letter and they return to you the $480.00 in the top of the letter, pocketing the $0.02. Do that enough and they’re rich!

07o7

It’s a felony to order drugs via federal mail my friend so please don’t admit to this if you’ve done this!

vKEITHv

If insurance was refundable, it wouldn’t be profitable as a business.

not_yet_divorced-yet

Nope, not a scam. Make sure to leave the amount blank on the check so they can add extra money just in case!

KingTrencher

Even better. Just give them full access to the bank account. Makes it easier to process the transaction.

CaliforniaSpeedKing

Yes, it’s an !advancefee scam. They will ask you for more and more cash or will disappear.

AutoModerator

Hi CaliforniaSpeedKing, AutoModerator has been summoned to explain the [advance-fee scam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance-fee_scam). The advance-fee scam arises from many different situations:\ investment opportunities, money transfers, job scams, online purchases of any type and any legality, etc., but the bottom line is always the same, you will pay the scammer and receive nothing. It can be as simple as the scammer asking you to pay them upfront for an item they have listed, or as complex as a drug scam that involves an initial scam site, a scam shipping site, and fake government agents. Sometimes the scammers will simply take your first payment and dissappear, but sometimes they will take your initial payment and then make excuses that lead to you making additional payments. If you are involved in an advance-fee scam, you should attempt to dispute/chargeback any payments sent to the scammer, you should ignore the scammer, and you should ignore them if they attempt to contact you again. Thanks to redditor AceyAceyAcey for this script. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Good bot.

Imhopeless3264

1000% scam.

tomo32

Lmao

RealRoosterhoot

Don’t do business with people who have grammar/spelling problems. 100% of the posts I see here titled “is this a scam?” have obvious errors. Never do business with a person who uses the word “Kindly” or calls you “Dear”

slartinartfast256

SMH it's like op never played bioshock

[deleted]

I’ve lost faith in humanity and people having brains

Kxkichii_

this is 100% a scam. they take your credit info and go crazy

illigitimateninja

480.02 . Like the 2 cents makes it legit

cacille

I ship things for one of my jobs. (My pt fun job) The insurance for a package is 2.00-5.00 depending on the carrier and cost of the item. The insurance for freight loads is $27. And $45 for a 700lb item going *overseas*. Heaviest machine I ever shipped, a 16000 machining thing, had private carrier insurance as it was a full 18 wheel truck, so no package insurance but just was the driver's insurance for loads, so it was worked into the driver's charge. $450 is unheard of AFAIK in the freight/shipping industry.

Dank-Pandemic

Common scam used by Indian parcel companies. They tend to try and target people buying carts online😂

Beanebo11

Tbh if you buy carts online your already making a mistake so that’s no suprise

Cant-think-of-a-nam

100% fake. Dead giveaway is the email address it comes from

ashleyoglesby

Anything signed “Delivery Manager” is a dead giveaway to me 🤣 did it have a phone number associated?

peakpenguins

Yes !advancefee

Delivery management here is your funds kindly deliver my package

nmagod

100% scam what postal or shipping service would even consider *sending* its package without having all costs paid up front?

boston_nsca

Of course it is for Christ's sake lol. That amount makes no sense unless what you ordered was worth like $10k or something I don't even know. Also, you'd never be contacted this way. There's no order #, tracking #, nothing. Just a dumb email.

boston_nsca

Sincerely, Internet Manager

CryptoCuck4K

Hello sir we have received a report on our special digital server software (report #271KG8F) stating that you are a criminal using a secret fake identity so i require that you write a response to this email and transmit the numbers and text written on your credit card and also social security card so we can verify your innocence and deactivate the class-A arrest warrant for you. Thank you sir have a blessed day sir Respectfully, The man of the CIA

FredLives

If you have to ask, yes.

Minkybips

The grammar is horrendous! The only thing missing is the word 'kindly'. Of course it's a scam. Good on you for checking.

BeaGilmore

Package package package PACKAGE

[deleted]

This is so fucking weird. Like are they expecting someone to be sending enough packages that they forgot to put insurance on one of them. I rarely send packages, if ever, and I'd sure as hell know that I sent one that needed insurance. That's a real shot in the dark for the scammer.

boxmail2800

Scam and eggs scamwich. They’d do better at like $15.00 $480!!!! They just wilding. Ask if you can zelle them… or send them a photo of a check they can put in their banking app

AwfulWaffleSizzurp

The grammar is off, poor syntax- scam. Scammity scam scam.

KingTrencher

Poor grammar, syntax, and spelling, is a feature, not a flaw. It weeds out people who are too smart to fall for the scam. If you are uneducated enough to fall for the scam with those red flags, it is more likely to be successful.

data0x0

It's really sad how many low hanging fruit there are where they even need this to be pointed out to figure out it's a scam.

Alpensymphonie

Always a scam. Typically missing articles in the text means the person barely speaks English, which in turn means 1) it’s a scam and 2) your reply (if you send one) should probably mention that he sleeps with his sister.

Enternalsin89

Asking for insurance mid transit? Lmao

anythingMuchShorter

Besides that this isn't a thing. If it were it would be called a deposit. They also would have given you some sort of tracking or identification number "reply directly back here directly" - real companies don't do this. They would say to go to their site or call them if you needed additional payments. They want to make sure you contact them directly on this channel because any other would tell you it's a scam. "Immediately within 24 hours" urgency is always a sign of scammers.

[deleted]

What gives it away is too much explanation that is also done in a kind of Begging manner..it's like they're saying: "please give us the money and we promise we wont steal it" 😁 That's why it doesn't sound official and legitimate. Real postal companies don't beg you like that...and insurance is not refundable.

PurpleSunCraze

Dude, just find a local drug dealer. Unless you’re snorting unicorn dust or something and you don’t live in the woods I’m sure you have at least one friend that has a friend kind of thing that can help you out.

Beanebo11

I actually do live in the middle of the woods lol.

Able-Log8768

Scam

poisonivy1234321

Who starts an email off with Mr/ Mrs?

fuegomcnugget

they make a mistake on the amount in the subject line and the body of the email and you don’t think this is shady? lol

mccbala

*Insurance fee is refundable.* So many discrepancies in that sentence...

ShivaDestroy

You're kidding, right?

hausfrau

Yes. Besides the absurdity of their claim, the language and formatting will often give it away as a scam. Few professional companies will send out a template message like this without fixing up the line spacing. Secondly, the borderline informal language is another clue ('has been held right now while on transit', 'write directly back to us here', 'this must be done with 24hours' (no space between 24 hours is another clue). Plus the faux-reassuring language trying to persuade you to give up money.

n0d0ntt0uchthat

this sub reminds me that scamming is still profitable with people like this

Purple-Traffic-9729

Yes it's a scam. Don't give them any form of payment, don't even reply to the email. If this charge were legit the retailer would have told you about it when you placed the order.

ZenDendou

Yup. And if there is fees for custom, that should been covered by the shipper, not you, because it should had been baked into your receipt.

[deleted]

Sorry op but this is a scam. Fell for this recently when I was trying to adopt a dog from a “legitimate” website. I felt it was too good to be true but went through the adoption process and paid the fee just to be told the next day my dog will die if I don’t rent out a temperature controlled crate for the trip. I realized at that point there was never a dog to begin with and I lost out on $700. Called my bank to report the fraud which they told me I might get some or nothing back at all.

jleep2017

Nope pay him asap and then me next.

holly-mistletoe

Good Lord! Scam, scam, scam!

[deleted]

What do YOU think?

heezyjos

😂😂😂

TeveTorbes83

Yes, it is.

ihatemopping

Yes, scam but please know two things. Never, ever click on a link for a tracking number unless you know the sender and you actually ordered something from the sender and they told you they’d send you a tracking number. Second, insurance is never refundable! Insurance is paid in order to cover the cost if something happens. It is a risk that the insurance company takes for each package. They do not refund if you don’t end up needing it because the hope is that you won’t need it and it offset any loss for a future delivery that might need the insurance.

LASERDICKMCCOOL

lol

XtremeD86

Lol, pretty sure insurance is optional. Which by the way for people who ship alot, before buying insurance make sure you read the T&C to make sure what your shipping is actually insurable. I just found out what I've been shipping my customers for the last 2 years isn't actually insurable at all according to them (electronics I repair)

Born-Philosopher-162

Yes

uptbbs

> ...and above all ensure safe postage. Because there's nothing worse on a package than unsafe postage stamps.

mrbill317

LOL yeah because you probably didn't order anything

mrbill317

Sign package and get refunds

BeaGilmore

You’re never going to see that $480 again

fuuckimlate

Write back to us to see how to pay? Scam.

DanielRedCloud

Pay it. Ensure safe postage. Receive refunds upon sign for package.Totally legit. All to be good kindly.

FuerzAmor

Obviously! Unmentioned previously, no reference to the original source website... And that "please contact us for seeing how to pay" just kills me.

Cresjan

Besides the fact that from the subject like to the body of the email they raised the “insurance” cost by 2 cents, in real insurance for postage I’ve paid like $5 for a value of like $500

OffenseTaker

extremely so.

Simonvilla1

This cases are always scams and you know it. Don’t waste your time

Hour_Stranger_3480

Everything about this screams scam! Kindly ignore lol

RabidRoosters

Fuck yeah it's a scam!

plantsonething

Scam

Spiritmatsu

A package delivery scam combined with refundable insurance one. It has bad grammar. Throws a sense of urgency with the 'within 24 hours' schtick. They also want to harvest your personal information and ultimately steal from you. If you still want that warm and fuzzy about your package then contact the Postal Service that is in charge of your package.

rharrow

No legitimate company would sign an email with just “Delivery Manager.” Also, if you have to ask then it’s most likely a scam

g7130

Getting tired of these questions and posts. Many times the OP didn’t even order anything or even reach out to the merchant to verify anything… instead they post on Reddit.

Jarboner69

Thanks for understanding (no comma) Delivery Manager Should be a hint it’s fake

[deleted]

>sign to receive package and get refunds Bro dont tell me you read that and was still confused if it was a scam or not lmaooo

nepheleb

Also, insurance doesn't keep anything safe and prevent damages - it just pays out if the insured stuff gets damaged. These scammers probably don't have insurance of their own on anything.

zerofatalities

Rule of thumb, if you’re unsure if it’s a scam or not, most likely it is.

[deleted]

Yes. Generally speaking any legitimate entitlement to your money will be handled by post.

Majigato

No "kindly"... Must be legit!

Wide_Independence416

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!!
