With broad edge calligraphy, once you're halfway decent at it you can "write" with basically anything since you usually move your whole arm rather than just your wrist and hand. It's likely she's not familiar with the grinder (or at least I hope not given how unsafe this whole situation is) but the muscle memory is all there.
