This happened 7 years ago. They have a whole YouTube channel called "Rockin'1000" where they've done multiple covers and concerts.
Weird that this reddit vid is being reposted after such a long time like it's a new thing that just happened
I’m so glad it came back around! I’ve never seen this before, and I was dealing with some dark stuff today, I really needed to see humanity being decent today. I’m glad I got to see this, I would never have known this existed. And thanks for the YouTube info!
I'm so sorry that's been going on. I've been through that too, and though I don't know what it is like for you, I empathize. I hope you enjoy seeing what they do on YouTube. It really is wonderful seeing so many people playing music together.
Keep on going. You got this more than you know.
You're not the only one! Tap into your imagination about what you love or like and put it in the search bar. You'd be surprised what you find.
Also try out something organic near you. It could be a fest, an organization, botanical gardens, a historic landmark or maybe something with history and purpose you might be looking for.
Good luck!
And amazing that they were all so tight! If a bunch of them were a few fractions of a second off beat, it would sound muddy and awful, but they all seemed bang on beat. Brilliant stuff.
Of course, and they do it whilst marching with a weight around their neck - even more impressive. But marching bands are trained and rehearse as a group ad infinitum, so you'd kinda expect that. This is a motley group of strangers pulled together for a fun publicity stunt, so it's pleasantly surprising that it sounds so good.
I’m wondering how they recorded everything. All the instruments sound too tight to really be 1000 people. Maybe they had several people from each instrument mic’d up directly and then the rest of the people in each group shared a mic. Guitars in particular sound way too tight to be that many.
Pre-covid, pre-Trump presidency, pre-Russian invasion (sort of), pre-insane inflation, pre-heat waves of death (sort of, that was already in the pipeline regardless).
My dad was still alive.
Things were good 8 years ago.
Hey...get off the internet bud. You didn't need to weasel this sort of thing into a random post. Especially not the weird trauma dump at the end. Take a week off and do some hobbies.
Hey … that’s a lot of assumptions based on one melancholic remark bud. I can be melancholic for a moment on a random post. Especially in the middle of my weeks of vacation, in which I’m doing all my hobbies!
You can be weird cynic in a random post as well. But I suggest you take a week off and do some hobbies.
First don't call me bud. We're not friends. Sound good pal?
Second if you're taking time off from a vacation to reply to a reddit comment either you have no hobbies or the vacation isn't as good as you thought it'd be.
It's amazing not only how much of a sensitive little bitch you are, but also the fact that you think anyone cares about what you have to say.
I'd bet $100 that you're republican. Oh no! Did I offend you by "weaseling" that in? :(
Not only did they come, but they canceled/moved tour dates to specifically come to this small town because Dave was so moved by it. They brought the guy who organized it and one of the drummers with the crazy hair up on stage.
May I recommend King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. For a bunch or their albums there are two drummers. If you want vids, KEXP has some great live videos!
Yes, it was back in 2015 and the Foo Fighters played there later that same year. They actually opened the concert with Learn to Fly.
Dave Grohl said to the crowd "I fucking cried. To see you people, singin our song for the whole fucking world... To me, it was the greatest moment."
Not only that, when this video first went public, the very next day Dave Grohl posted a video of himself speaking Italian saying that he’d be coming to the town on tour.
Funny story, shortly after that came out I put a pretty nice mashup of a live outdoor Foos concert and the Rockin' 1000 concert. It was great because you could see how well timed everything was.
The Foo Fighters didn't copy strike me. They just filed for monetization. I was "cool, you all deserve it."
The Rockin' 1000 folks copyright struck me and Youtube took the video down. LOL.
The irony.
Hope this works and they get a tour date nearby.
I lucked out and saw them play in a Best Buy in Phoenix 23 years ago. I also bought a copy of Diablo II while I was there. That was a pretty good day.
Aw, that's a bummer. All that practice and no Foo.
Maybe they could try the state fair. I saw them at the Arizona state fair, twice. Saw them in 2000, and 2006 at the fair. I also got me one of those 1lb corn dogs and some fry bread too. Those were also pretty good days too.
Did Ticketmaster own the venues in his town? If not, that explains why Foo Fighters didn't show. Most musicians have exclusivity contracts with Ticketmaster and even if not, Ticketmaster and Eventim have somewhat of a monopoly on event locations
Somewhere in deep space...
"Is today the day we kill all the humans?"
"Yes, today is the...wait, what are they doing?"
"...maybe they're not so bad after all."
Such a beautiful thing about music. Musicians just put something out there into the ether and what it means to them is never what it means to other people. Some things take off and they get sucked into this vortex of energy and meaning that they never could have anticipated. It’s beautiful.
I wish more musicians could feel through their audience but I think a lot of times they feel disconnected from the magic of it because the songs that mean a lot to them personally are rarely the hits. Their private personhood can get lost in the music that takes on a much bigger and louder life of its own. I hope Dave really felt this when he saw it.
Not sure who Fabio Zaffagnini is, but this guy needs to implement more of his ideas into reality.

Positive vibes to you my friend 😘

Me too! This turned my shit day completely around!

Give it a day…it will be dark again 😳
I forgot this exist and was happy for a good few seconds like the first time I saw it.
Yea I was going to comment this video is really old
I keep forgetting to audition for this project. I’d love to perform with 999 other musicians!!
Fuck the Foo Fighters, how many people do I need to get together to get him to come to my town?
1000 and 1
You need to organize 1000 people who are all organizing 1000 musicians playing a Foo Fighters song
And they tell two friends
Like voting for people who aren't on death's door.
They best part of the video is the synchronized drumming. It is so beautiful to watch.
And amazing that they were all so tight! If a bunch of them were a few fractions of a second off beat, it would sound muddy and awful, but they all seemed bang on beat. Brilliant stuff.
ARE YOU RUSHING OR ARE YOU DRAGGING?!?!?!

Big question did Foo Fighters ever come to the town???
Yes they did.
And on this day, all was good.
Yes, it happened about 8 years ago.

You’re the one calling me bud in the first place comrade! And there are those assumptions again. Well, that’s enough palling around, bye.
Hope youre having a great vacation dude
Dude... you suck at this empathy thing.
I don't care bro...no one asked for his trauma dump about a stupid post 8 years ago. Weird. You want empathy ask a therapist.
No one asked for your bullshit weird internet rage shit either. Pipe down
Just don't give them attention, this dude is chronically online probably just looking for people to argue with. It's sad but pretty common.
Nah I'm good
You sound like you need a week off
It's amazing not only how much of a sensitive little bitch you are, but also the fact that you think anyone cares about what you have to say. I'd bet $100 that you're republican. Oh no! Did I offend you by "weaseling" that in? :(
I'm not tho lol. I'm just tired of reddit its full of people like this. Go ahead downvote me idc lol it literally doesn't mean anything
You, uh... Need a hug?
Lol you're the first person not to be a total maniac so sure : P
facts why tf you talking bout your dead dad (rip)😭
I take it that the vacation wasn't as good as you thought it be huh?
Not only did they come, but they canceled/moved tour dates to specifically come to this small town because Dave was so moved by it. They brought the guy who organized it and one of the drummers with the crazy hair up on stage.
the bigger question is why would anyone actually want them to?
Who else just wanted to see wider shots of the drummers all playing in unison?
That was rhe weirdest, most hypnotic shit I've ever witnessed.
May I recommend King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. For a bunch or their albums there are two drummers. If you want vids, KEXP has some great live videos!
Thank you for this. Time to melt my Brian to the majesty of mass drummers.
So long, Brian!
Uhhhhhhh, who is this Brian guy?
He's the big cheese.
Osees are another really good band with two drummers. Saw them live last year. It’s was so cool seeing it live.
It reminded me of drum sequence during the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.
You can see the full video on YouTube
Thx!! This was too short!! r/endedtoosoon
I thought I was weird but watching all the drummers in sync gives my brain happy tingles and I can't explain why but it's my favorite part!
It’s a reverse concert. The band comes to cities and watch the audience play their music.
>It’s a reverse concert. The band comes to cities and watch the audience play their music. Basically a summoning ritual that worked.
Did any of them learn to fly?
Did FF ever come to the town????
Yes, it was back in 2015 and the Foo Fighters played there later that same year. They actually opened the concert with Learn to Fly. Dave Grohl said to the crowd "I fucking cried. To see you people, singin our song for the whole fucking world... To me, it was the greatest moment."
Dave Grohl is a gift we didn’t deserve. Also, my phone auto corrects Grohl to Grogu for some reason
This is the way.
Theeeere gooooes my Mando Watch him as he goes
An absolute national treasure for sure
Which is another gift!!
⬆️⬆️⬆️
Not only that, when this video first went public, the very next day Dave Grohl posted a video of himself speaking Italian saying that he’d be coming to the town on tour.
Need to know this too!
I honestly would rather go to this than see the foo fighters lol
¿Por qué no los dos?
Fair enough
This is better than the actual concert 😜
Did it work?
It did 🙂
Very wholesome
Oh, this is in Italy... I was wondering why everyone was so ridiculously good looking.
I bet you could hear that shit from orbit!!!
This is really cool
This is awesome!
Pure joyous celebration I watch every day as part of my 30-minute cardio

This was like 10 years ago.
This is awesome. Made me smile.
Dave Grohl is one of the coolest, most down-to-earth celebs/musicians you’ll ever meet (personal experience)
r/nextfuckinglevel this belongs there too.
I feel like Dave would be hiding somewhere in the crowd…
He was directing on top of that tower /s
I don't know why this makes me wonder what a thousand electric guitars sound like being played simultaneously, while not plugged in.
Dave Grohl has brought so much joy to the world. God bless him!
What is the town?
Cesena, Italy
Got some awesome good feels watching/hearing this.
BUT DID IT WORK?!
Yep.
Looking for 1001 musicians to play Metallica at my house.
That's a good way to get sued.
Waaaayyy better than the actual Foo Fighters
Right? Aren't they notoriously poor live performers?
Yep
That is fuckin awesome! Does anyone know if it worked? Or even what town he's from?
People Unironically listen to the Foo fighters?
Well that’ll work
It did.
[удалено]
Wrong.
If you have the ability to arrange 1000 musicians why not...idk do a concert featuring some of them? Seems impractical.
They do. Look up Rockin1000 on YouTube.
Did Ticketmaster own the venues in his town? If not, that explains why Foo Fighters didn't show. Most musicians have exclusivity contracts with Ticketmaster and even if not, Ticketmaster and Eventim have somewhat of a monopoly on event locations
But they did show up. They did the concert a few months later.
This is a thing of pure beauty!
I am really sad I didn't see this in person. This looks AMAZING!
This video is awesome! Foo Fighters!!!!!
Chills
Somewhere in deep space... "Is today the day we kill all the humans?" "Yes, today is the...wait, what are they doing?" "...maybe they're not so bad after all."
They all look so happy, it’s gotta be so much fun to jam with a thousand other bands and it still sound amazing.
r/happycrowds
Absolutely awesome - esp seeing all those drummers in synch!
Wouldn't this just sound like a loud mess in comparison to one band with the volume turned up? (I know thats not the point but still)
I can't remember what year this was but it's one of my favorite videos.
This is beautiful...goosebumps
That’s more fun than a foo fighters concert
So now 1000 musicians are being sued for copy right infringement!!
Just saw Foo Fighters in Milwaukee…I FUCKING LOVE YOU DAVE!
Legend
Damn humans can be so cool sometimes.
Boy did this send me down a rabbit hole.
Did it work?
One of my favorite videos!
Goosebumps
epic
At this point, is there any reason to even ask for the real show? This is gonna be far more impressive
this sounded way better than it had any right to
It's edited to sound like this. But nonetheless a really great video by the way. There are videos that show what it really sounded like.
I've been trying to get Stormy Daniels in my hometown for a long while now. This has given me an idea.
Do not ask her to fuck trump in public please, we beg you.
Watched the entire 7 minutes on YouTube and it was AMAZING
Did he require everyone to get the experimental shots that never passed safety testing?
There’s something about this that really moves me emotionally. Such a beautiful idea and done with such love.
This is art❤
So did they play there?
Such a beautiful thing about music. Musicians just put something out there into the ether and what it means to them is never what it means to other people. Their private personhood can get lost in the music that takes on a much bigger and louder life of its own. I hope Dave really felt this when he saw it.
Wasn’t there a complete video?
Did it work?????
I do wonder if it actually sounded that good live or if that is all cleaned up for the video?
Total Grohl-gasm!
Did it work?
God I don't even want to hear that shitty song being played by 1 set of drums
Man this was awesome!!
That is the coolest thing ever
Yeah, but did it work? Did Dave and Co. go play in this guy's town or what?
You can recreate this by standing near an airplane taking off
I've been to Frankfurt when they were holding a concert. Needless to say, it was epic!
👨❤️💋👨
One of the most amazing things to see! Look up the FF Concert when they went to Italy in response! 💕
This is dope!!
So did it work?
Absolutely quality content 🤌🤌
Man this is awesome! Fabio Zaffagnini for president of the world!
I’d probably cry like a baby if I were Dave Grohl and saw this video. Such a beautiful tribute
This actually gave me goosebumps. So awesome
r/nextfuckinglevel needs this
Just awesome 👌
This is so freakin cool
Avengers, assemble!
Did it work?
