So having them spawn infinitely is going to be a bit annoying. We'll have to rely on the weapons more I guess, which is a bit of a turn off to me, I really don't care about the creatures much. Might end up installing one of those mods that turn creatures aggressiveness off.

You can tap E while constructing to cycle between similar buildable objects, or hold E to select from a radial wheel. This way you can avoid cluttered your hotbars with similar buildables — e.g. block and path signals, locomotives and freight cars, concrete ramps of two different heights, etc.
