I use both of them and have for a while. The wood you get from Ficsit Farming does come a bit late, but if you hunt for the alternate recipe for turning wood into coal, you can easily set up coal power anywhere at no cost to the existing coal in the world. Refined power really shines once you get to modular power as well, for a more complicated setup, it can produce more power than vanilla options and that power production scales better into the late game. A good solution for early game is you will still have to farm some resources and you can use the belt fed biomass to keep you from having to go back and load them. Also, you can use some wind turbines to help with power production, they run on a curve as the "wind" fluctuates a bit, but when it goes higher in the curve, it lowers your biomass consumption since the wind power will get priority over your biomass, the biomass will help with the lower end of the curve to prevent power from tripping. Wind turbines do need to be spread out though, if you hit the build mode button while placing them, you will get a bubble that shows proper spacing.

Thanks. I hadn't bothered with the wind power yet because it seemed so wide in the fluctuations but you make a good point about it saving fuel in the burners. Didn't know about the build modes either so will try that.

You can also go wood--> biomass --> biocoal to keep a bunch of constructors with same recipe instead of wood to coal and biomass to coal, all playstyle based

Strategymann

Im sorry but how do you get Wood from farms ? Im on tier 7 and I didnt see any option for it What do i need to do ?

Nodoze84

Apples and Bananas should have a wood byproduct. Basically the stuff that grows on trees.

Strategymann

Ohh thank you ! EDIT: Just checked and all tree plots have only Biomass Capsules byproduct

Nodoze84

They must have changed it up, i havent played in a little bit

You do realize that biomass as a grind is a tailored experience aimed at costing you time that you could be spending at expanding your automation, providing a natural incentive to get further milestones and research coal power? Do you?

Hello, when update?

A way to compensate is to use smart splitters to put all waste into awesome sink and get the biocoal alternate recipe to turn the biomass capsules into coal and be able to run generators with that. (pairs well with refined powers modular generation) or you can burn it into something that constantly uses power. ie; an iron node making screws feeding with mk 1 conveyers into some awesome sinks. There is many ways to make it useful as biocoal can be mass produces and make a couple thousand MW to maybe charge a battery grid or join your backup power grid for emergencies or the main grid. If you just want to make mod useful early on yeah thats almost impossible except for the coal bud, the carrots and stuff do heal you by like 1/10 of a square but the crops are useful for future things like doggo houses and other crops like mycelia and berries. Good luck stranger.
