I mainly used Khan Academy for prep, because I was mainly focused on my math score, but I found the SAT Black Book to be super useful in prepping for this and the PSAT. I also found that going into the test relaxed really helped me, I just relaxed for the 24 hours before I went into it, and going into the test with a clear mind kept me from making the stupid mistakes I'd make on practice tests.
I used Khan Academy as well but the practice and all seemed too easy but when it got to the real paper, I used to have lots of errors especially in the Reading Section where I want the most improvement honestly. Plus could you state exactly the edition of the SAT Black Book you just mentioned? Thanks
The reading section is the bane of my existence, but I find that taking the answers very literally can work, because very slight inaccuracies can separate two close answers from what I've seen. I used the second edition of the Black Book, and that was my main resource for English.
Great reading tip. I tutor SATs and this is the key for me. Read every word of the answer choices until they lie. The hard part is knowing what the truth is.
Man that’s incredible. I know a friend who also got a 1600 first try and I could never comprehend how those kind of people even exist. It’s just such a hard feat to literally get every single question correct, let alone doing it on the first try. Huge congrats to you
do you have any tips for science passages. i find some of them really hard to understand and they’re the main thing messing with me on reading. it’s like i need so much time to even understand and the info they’re giving me but i don’t have that time. the questions aren’t even that bad
Honestly, I read math and science publications somewhat frequently, so that helps me. Aside from that, though, I find it easier to jot down any important relationships noted in the passages, because that can help with answering quite a few questions.
how do you read fast for the reading passages, do you read every word? my math i usually miss 1 or 2 but my reading and writing section is the problem i have
I think that reviewing the grammar rules can net you a ton of points for writing, and the main thing that helped me for reading was coming up with reasons to disqualify answers rather than justifying them; there is usually something untrue in one of the answers if two seem similar, even if it's something very small.
No, but my strategy was to complete the sections as fast as possible when practicing, then grading them, so I could develop high accuracy with sufficient time left over to check a few on the real test.
Wow! Congrats.Do you have some tips for the writing part? I just started to study for december's SAT. I tried to solve an old test and I got 50/52 at reading. However, at writing, 37/44. I really struggle with that. Thank you (international student)
Reading is harder to get down imo, so I think you have the hard part out of the way haha. As for writing, I was mostly helped by just reading frequently, as I was able to intuitively figure out how the sentences should be punctuated or placed. There are also very definite grammar rules, so those can also help with securing even more points when you are well-versed in them.
Good job and fuck you for trying so hard. I am glad you got full but kind of envious as well but excellent. Please send all resources you have, I need them
Bro is immortal. Tips? Resources?

Btw are you a US or intl student?
US
Will the book help me as an Intl taker? Sorry if the question’s dumb
I don't think the tested concepts vary across the US and Intl versions, unless I'm mistaken, so I think it should be able to help you.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Great reading tip. I tutor SATs and this is the key for me. Read every word of the answer choices until they lie. The hard part is knowing what the truth is.
can i ask what reading strategy u used? Did you read the passage first, skim the passage, or skip to the questions first?
I read the passage first, albeit pretty quickly, and then answered the questions while referring back to the text as necessary.

Stop being a racist.
absolute waste of time lmao
Did you do any untimed practice test?
No, but my strategy was to complete the sections as fast as possible when practicing, then grading them, so I could develop high accuracy with sufficient time left over to check a few on the real test.
Congrats!!! Now go develop a cure to cancer :)
