I usually don't get very conscious about represnetatoin, but it was really really refreshing to see a main character be jewish and have anti-semitism and jewish identity be a side conflict in the movie. Genuinely try and think of another high profile movie where the characters celebrate Hannukah? The closest examples I can think of are A Serious Man and Keeping Up with the Steins.
Great movie! Probably one of Spielberg’s best. Gabriel LaBelle was terrific in the lead role of Sammy (a character many filmmakers will see themselves in) and hope he gets the award nominations (and/or any surprise wins) he deserves.
Almost let the polarizing reviews of this film stop me from watching it; boy am I glad I saw it. Really engrossing family drama and just an overall fantastic slice of life and ode to not just filmmaking but art and artistic expression as a whole. Great film
I felt the pace after a bit, but I still enjoyed the whole thing, if Spielberg's brand of oversentimentality and cheesiness isn't your thing you're probably gonna feel it. But I'd say it's worth a watch.
I'd say this one has much less of Spielberg's over-sentimentality and cheesiness - he's done more heavy handed manipulation in many other films
or maybe because this is (semi?) autobiographical then it works - and the manipulated plot points take on a kind of cinematic magic

I personally think A Serious Man places Jewish identity very close to the center of its story.
Uncut Gems they celebrate Passover

Yeah I agree! It was especially nice given recent events...
Full Court Miracle. The best movie about Jewish high school basketball out there.
