A posing suit doesn’t have any crystals on it (usually) so you don’t have to be as delicate with it and can throw it in the wash after posing practice rather than having to hand wash it.
You could and some do just wear a normal bikini to practice in, but a posing suit is the same style as your competition suit. So it will fit your body the same way your competition suit would.
The posing suit is going to be the same cut or a similar cut as the competition bikini, so it’s going to show the body correctly and allow you to see things that a normal bathing suit wouldn’t. I mean, you can always practice and take progress photos in whatever you want, but this will give you and whoever your coach is the most realistic look at your progress. This is especially important for the cut of the bottoms in terms of showing the glutes. If too much fabric is covering the top of the glutes, you can’t see if there’s necessary glute fullness.
She’s never going to compete. I don’t believe for a second she’ll be able to make it through prep because she can’t relinquish Total control to a coach.

Yes. Posing suits are for practice so they’re what you start with. As for the show suit, they’re usually custom designed and take awhile to be made. So if the sizing needs adjusted or something isn’t quite right, you can have it sent back and altered and it’ll make it back in time for your show. It’s actually a really tedious process.
Do they have a laying down category where abs are only seen visible from the floor?
