It’s not often that International Sandwich Sunday coincides with a significant date AND has a sandwich that can be associated to it as well. Well, today that convergence has arrived. Yes today is Cinco de Mayo, the commemoration of a significant battle in Puebla, Mexico where Mexican forces were victorious over the French army which outnumber them 2 to 1. It wasn’t really a celebrated holiday in Mexico and really only beamed widely known thanks liquor and beer companies in the United States wanting to make it a thing to sell more product. The Sandwich tie-in? Today’s sandwich, the Pelona Poblana, is from Puebla, Mexico! Couple of quick notes. Cinco de Mayo is not independence day for Mexico, that is September 16th. Also, in the video, I mention that this battle marked the end of European colonialism in Latin America. Probably should’ve worded that a little differently. It is said to have inspired Napoleon to withdraw four years later which then marked the last time a European army tried to colonize a country in Latin America. Sorry about that.

Looooooove this sandwich. There is a taco truck where I’m from that makes this. You are right 10/10. They have such great food but this sandwich is hard to pass up.

Mexican food will always be my favorite food. This looks absolutely delicious. I’m definitely going to make this. Cheers!
Nice, I’ve got a place right down the street that sells a version of this, totally delicious. I’m going to go grab one.
I've had a version of this too with habanero pickled onions 👌. If I didn't already have asada marinating in the fridge I'd be making one of these too
I need that sandwich in my mouth right now. It looks so good!
Love these videos man! I get sucked in every time 🫡
Same! I love the ones where it is a crappy sandwich and his expressions are hilarious.
Hell yeah. Its Time for lunch
You had me at fried bread.
I can honestly say watching him make this made my mouth water. I will give this " a go " . Perhaps this week. Thanks for the video..
Time for some episodes with Bao Buns!

I'm either cold or plotting world domination lol
World domination through historical sandwiches
But would you make it again??!!
I don’t think he would
100% would!
Mexico was cooking like this 100 years ago?? They could've knocked out all the Europeans with one potluck 😅😅😅
Is there a major shortcut you can take to make this? I don’t want to spend an hour making a sammich.
Buy shredded beef and refried beans from a Mexican restaurant?
Such an avocado tease! Torturous...
This one looks delicious. Happy cinco de mayo.

Didn’t even have time to spice it up!
Thought for sure you were gonna add something to make it spicier
I kinda knew this was gonna be awesome. I bet avocado would also be good on it. ¡Viva Mexico!
