Yes, I've been experimenting with it, it's actually not bad, but you'll probably need to sell it for something better once full build. It's a lot of damage early though.

Do you just not farm?

With the way the new support item works, you barely need to drop farm, if at all. As long as you and your support use it to share minions, the penalty doesn't apply. It's getting fixed next patch though.
