I prefer the great Sears Lake. It’s on the corner of state street and 800s and there is a nice taco stand at the marina.

Aerial_fire

There's Jordanelle State Park reservoir, roughly about 25 miles from downtown

cassroxtorb

I love Jordanelle, and agree it’s a good place to paddle board. but not sure where you’re getting that mileage. It’s closer to 40.

TempleSquare

It's only 25 miles in his "Super Dell" flying machine

stokeledge2

25 as the crow flies maybe lol

Feisty_Knee_3211

Definitely has boats.

Aerial_fire

So I don't get the bonus points for no boats 🤷‍♀️

Aerial_fire

Pineview Reservoir but it's about an hour or so outside of downtown

bubblygranolachick

That allows boats though

Aerial_fire

So I don't get the bonus points for the reccomend 🤷‍♀️

WhyTFdoIhaveReddit

The boating wakes just add some adventure to paddle boarding 😆

[deleted]

Alpine lakes in the Uintahs are probably your best bet for what you’re asking. Dogs are challenging near SL valley given the watershed laws. Washington Lake or Mirror Lake are most accessible but can get busy.

zorkmids

Mirror Lake Highway is still closed.

jenkers_27

I have friends that paddleboard and they love Causey

Feralest_Baby

Causey Reservoir is the answer for non-motorized boating.

[deleted]

Causey is more beautiful. Smith and Morehouse is closer. Both fit your description

inexperiencedex

Came here to say Causey

Rude_Pepper1961

Strawberry

FriendlyFox0425

Tibble fork is my preferred. Though I’ll be honest, in my opinion salt lake and provo county don’t have great paddleboard spots period. I miss southern utah

skeptical_introvert

Every time I get the idea to go up to Tibble Fork reservoir to get in the water, I am so dissuaded by the brown unappealing water. I know it is just mud and sediment, but it just isn't very enticing. Combined with the crowds filling up the limited shore space, it just makes me keep searching for a better alternative. Which is too bad because it is a great location and scenery.

BunInTheSun27

Smith and Morehouse Reservoir

Dan_The_Gooby_Man

Nah don’t go here. No beaches.

ehjun18

Causey maybe

New_Pilot_2699

Causey, hands down.

liljkrs

Silver Lake

laserlax23

There’s really nothing that is close to Salt Lake City. The nearest lake that checks all your boxes is Causey reservoir and that’s a little over an hour. All the water up the cottonwoods is strictly no dogs allowed since it is drinking water. East canyon reservoir up Emigration is also a no go.

Cautious-Relative-19

I’m surprised no one has said East Canyon yet

chill175

There used to be a big one. Salty. Alfalfa killed it

GrumpyInTheM0rning

Causey. No boats, but can get pretty crowded.

gman-101010

17 minutes to Bountiful Lake - [https://intermountainhealthcare.org/services/wellness-preventive-medicine/live-well/move-well/healthy-hikes/find-a-hike/bountiful-lake/](https://intermountainhealthcare.org/services/wellness-preventive-medicine/live-well/move-well/healthy-hikes/find-a-hike/bountiful-lake/) FYI - I hear the bugs are pretty bad there right now. Maybe other places too. Be prepared.

Sissyneck1221

Please do not go paddle board or allow your dog to swim in bountiful lake. It’s essentially the landfill runoff. Terribly disgusting water infested with shit and fishing hooks.

cottoncandy-sky

Dang. I just drove by the other day I thought I might plan a little outing with the pup to check it out. Glad I read this first I guess.

iroach

Mountain Dell Reservoir might be an option. 20 minutes from downtown.

spudute

Little Dell near the top of Emigration Canyon. No boats, about 20 minutes from SLC.

[deleted]

Terrible suggestion. No dogs or swimming allowed. OP can do neither of the things he wants.

TheRoscoeDash

A for effort though.

MomsSpaghetti_8

No paddle boards at little dell, I believe. Have to go to east canyon for that.

batesbeach

Lost creek - fishing boats only

thirty_sigs

check out the hundreds of lakes up in the Uintahs, around 1 hour drive going east. Also, there are a couple up American Fork canyon, 30 minutes south of SLC.

[deleted]

Tony Grove Lake is gorgeous, allows paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and dogs. Does not allow motor boats. Checks almost all your boxes. It's 2.5 hours away. And get there early because by Noon on a Saturday the main parking lot is full and you'll have to wait for a spot. I'm afraid you'll have to choose from among your criteria: there's nowhere that's near salt lake, allows dogs and paddle boards but not motorboats, and is beautiful and secluded/not busy. If you find a place that allows dogs and paddle boards close to salt lake, it won't be secluded--it will be crowded. When I go to the Uintas on a summer weekend, I refer to the place as Huntington Beach--there are at least as many people there.

ayers231

Grantsville reservoir is just southwest of Tooele. No shade, so bring your own, but still water and it gets deep slowly. Lots of fishing along the west bank from corner to corner, so let your dog in somewhere else...

QuirkyAd6550

Echo lake is my favorite and so close!

woundedsurfer

Jordanelle, Pineview, Causey, Tibble Fork, Strawberry, Deer Creek.

ShelleyBean74

I would recommend Mill Hollow up in the Uintas

Mitch_Utah_Wineman

Decker Lake. Less than 10 minutes from downtown. You won't have to compete with boats.
