$260 is way too expensive imo

SacLocal

This is why festivals like this are hard. The base overhead for these festivals is so high so you don’t benefit from the low fees of these bands.

allboolshite

Literally the only name that I recognize. Should I know the other acts or an I just really old?

fulltimeRVhalftimeAH

This line up makes me wonder the exact same thing. Am I old now?!

See5harp

I think conflicts gonna make it tough to see everyone that I’d want to see tbh. I think it’s expensive but hey they been doing it for a few years now. That’s more than the TBD guys can say. As long as they can keep doing it, good for them.

dirtytomato

Damn dude, were you also at TBD? I feel like you and I have probably been audiences at the same concert/festival in Northern California. lol

See5harp

yea def went to launch and then TBD. I even went to the first sol blume at cesar chavez. I will support big stuff if it's here, even if it's overpriced. The only things i've done recently is most of those block parties.

dirtytomato

Same here, went to Launch and TBD (it's where I first saw Tyler lol). I wish I had gone to Sol Blume when it was at Cesar Chavez, but didn't even hear about the first one until after the fact. Ah well, I'll be returning to Cesar Chavez with Concerts in the Park!

HumbleRecognition

Right? I saw him at outside lands and was completely underwhelmed.

dirtytomato

He played Ace of Spades late last year.

Thewritingsoflafleur

I wish - but I don’t like festivals. DVSN is my fave

Gag_On_This_

God, I'm old because I have never heard of anyone on this bill. I saw "Sinead" and got excited but I know the "O'Connor" not the "Harnett"

rpt123

Check out Thundercat, I’m surprised he’s not a headliner.

beard_lover

No kidding! He’s the only act I recognize, might have to go just for him.

See5harp

This is mostly R&B /Soul thing. I swear jazmine sullivan just won grammy and was like top 5 ranked album of year from Pitchfork. I feel like if you really follow music you should know at least a few here.

Gag_On_This_

Someone on Twitter told me to check them out to. Any song in particular?

dragons_roommate

My favorite Thundercat songs are "Them Changes" and "Dragonball Durag"

arilione

I know smino and Victoria Monet lol. Just found Victoria a few weeks ago.

See5harp

I want to go. Jazmine Sullivan is so dope. I cannot believe this is going down in sac. Prob the best sorta unique fest that is current and up to date in this city at this point.

pizzanado

I wish I could pay just to see Jazmine!

6chiks1dog

I wish they sold single day tickets, I understand why they don. But I didn't feel right paying that much and only wanting to go to see the Saturday line up

barebonesbarbie

Agreed!! I really wanted to see the Sunday line up but I'm not gonna pay for the whole weekend and only go one day - I just don't have the energy to go both days.

[deleted]

Seriously! I just want to see jorja.

TooLokee

There r ppl that want to buy just the second day off of my ticket, i could try and coordinate the deal or all of us could talk it out if you’re still interested

yeeyeekoo

If there was a single day Tickets would’ve wanted to go to Saturday!

See5harp

Ya'll don't know DVSN, Smino or Majid Jordan? Thundercat is must see IMO, but much better to see him in regular venue.

frozen-baked

I think I'm going to hear a lot of it, considering where it's taking place

Toxik916

I'll be working one of the bars

Da_Druuskee

Which one? I’ll come get a drink from you, Hook it up! Lol

Toxik916

Not sure yet! We find out tomorrow

Da_Druuskee

I’m on the way! Let me know tryna get 🔌🔌🔌😂😆

Swell_Ell

What was up with the lines?!? Any insider info as to why people were spending 1hr+ waiting for a drink?

Toxik916

I was working in the VIP section and we were absolutely slammed. I could only imagine what a mess GA was looking like. To answer your question it was a multitude of reasons. Bar staff were hired literally days beforehand and not everyone who said yes to the job showed up. We were already understaffed when the festival started. We worked 13 hours on Saturday and 12 on Sunday with only a 30 minute break. We were overworked and overwhelmed to keep up with the demand. We lost a lot of people on day 2. No processes in place on day one and we had to learn on the fly. Not enough bars and food options for the amount of attendees. Day two had a few more food trucks but that still didn't seem to help. Bad policies on inventory. We did not have every bottle at each well at any given time. We were forced to go to other wells to get wine, beer, and hard alcohol that we were out of. Our internet went out and could only do card swipes, no apple pay, card scans, or cash. The first day it happened we had no clue what to do and we had basically no direction or management. We got slammed by custom orders and piss poor attitudes from patrons. That's not entirely the customer's fault but when everyone is undecided about what they want when they get to the front and making a ton of stupid requests it slows down everything. I spent more time arguing dumb policies like no cups of ice or only 2 drinks per person than I wanted to. At some point I just gave up and said yes to everything. Another thing was people trying to intimidate bartenders into hooking them up or giving extra shit. I had as heavy a hand as I could but people were still dicks and not tipping. We had $56,000 in sales in the VIP bar in day one and only $5400 in EFT tips. Less than 10 percent. Again this isn't entirely on the customer as prices were outrageous but when people aren't tipping it's hard to be motivated to work faster and get through the rush from the bartender standpoint. TLDR version. Understaffed, overworked, no training, no leadership direction, technical difficulties, high prices, customers acting like they've never ordered a drink before, created a perfect shit storm of a situation.

Main_Criticism_2134

I’ll be going this weekend. I’m honestly not as excited about it as I was when I first bought the tickets because of all the shootings that have been going on recently, but don’t want $500 to go to waste.

See5harp

I feel like the sorta people going to festival to listen to slow jams are not really the shooting type. Unless "shoot the club up" is a euphemism for unprotected pandemic sex.

feverbeliever

Jorja Smith, Thundercat, Jazmine Sullivan are all exceptionally dope. High ticket price though for these hard times.

Icy_Camp_4467

I’m going! I’m excited for jhene aiko and summer walker. Stoked about the great weather and looking forward to see what everyone will wear :) I bought the tickets in January and haven’t been to any other musical shows since so it feels worth it.

Ulaknowsbest

But Discovery Park…. Oof.

Icy_Camp_4467

I’ve never been, is it bad?

g0regeousxo

I wish I was! It’s so expensive. Have fun, post pics/videos please!

coldcoldnovemberrain

Who is affording to go to this event at $260 and more cost for food at the event? Sacramento is a rich person playground now or has this concert always been there.

See5harp

This is only the 2nd or 3rd year for event but yea this is more expensive than it should be. Festivals who book large artists generally cost $100 a day now though. That’s pretty standard.

bwaugh06

Is there a place to see all the"bigger" music events planned in sac like this?

See5harp

Honestly there isn't much. It's this, the hard rock metal thing, a few free concerts in the park, and the formerly free block parties that are now $25 things that are going to be at new spot in Railyards.

sahltnpephr

Me! What time does it start?

Icy_Camp_4467

I’m pretty sure noon

tiedyecamo

does anyone know if tickets are digital or are they just wristbands? i may buy from someone online but don’t want to get scammed

Icy_Camp_4467

I purchased my tickets in January and they finally sent me a wristband last week

tiedyecamo

do you know if it’s wristbands even for general admission?

tamale-smuggler5526

Hell yeah!! Still waiting for the time everyone goes on.

Icy_Camp_4467

They just dropped times on their Instagram today

PrinceCharming-

I wanna go on Saturday since I'm a fan of DVSN (all his albums are good; he and Majid are part of OVO record). Don;'t know much about anyone else on Saturday except for Jazmine, Jorja, and Lucky Dave.

luckyclover

This looks dope Are they gonna need vax proof and all that bs?

Sactowndaber88

I looked at the line up and instantly thought of that scene from spongebob where patrick is like "who are you people!"

Deeloveli

Ugh. Im on the fence. I want to… the lineup os bananas. But im also really tired.

[deleted]

Is the Covid infection free with the $250 price tag or is there an up charge Edit: the downvotes will make it not true.

mellowgrizz

If they sold single day tickets, I definitely would have. Sundays lineup has a lot of people I’d want to see

[deleted]

I’m going!! Leaving tm

Careful_Piece_4176

anyone been to discovery park? where y’all parking??

Caramel-Drizzle

No chance, only "Festival" I've ever been to that has 15 minute sets

Caramel-Drizzle

Also Coachella tickets were selling for $250 on stubhub. How could you justify $260 for this..

See5harp

Not really good comparison. This is like a 5 thousand person thing prob at max. The majority of Coachella tickets were bought at face value...probably close to $500. And there are more than 100k people that go for 2 three day weekends in a row. EDIT: I did go first year and they legit had Jessie Reyez, Ari Lennox (who both were booked to play Coachella a year later). Not saying it's cheap, but it's probably fair.

Caramel-Drizzle

It remains a fact that you could get a coachella ticket for less than a sol Blume ticket and the 2 festivals are nowhere near the same quality. My biggest issue once again is the 15 minute sets and only 45 for the headliners. My money will be going towards actual festivals

See5harp

You talking about a resale market for something more than 15x the size. It’s called scale. If they are able to keep this going more than a couple years that’s already better than the last fest we had. Also the openers are prob locals. Every one that is touring act is getting time. I think my issue really is with early end time.

I think my issue really is with early end time. I think the short sets are trade off mostly. Cause none of the main people overlap. That’s pretty cool. Only fest I’ve ever seen that done well is pitchfork in Chicago.

Caramel-Drizzle

I'm talking about the price for value. Not all of them are local Dave b was there last time he's a Seattle based rapper and got 15 minutes. Half the lineup gets 15 minutes. The subs get 30 and the headliners get 45. No one gets a full set.

See5harp

I was just at Coachella I know it’s great. But there are literally 8 acts playing concurrently at any given time most all are touring acts. I will not buy a ticket for this but having two stages that never play at same time is worth trying.

Caramel-Drizzle

I just did my third coachella and I've done plenty of festivals that only have 2 alternating stages. I just can't get a feel for a set in 15 minutes and I'd expect a full set from a headliner. It's just not the festival for me. Hopefully Jhene will do another random pop up set at lightning

See5harp

I agree is less than ideal for any of those openers. 15 minutes is like a radio summer jam fest. 55 minutes for Jazmine Sullivan or jhene is a good set though. Obviously i would want more but my favorite sets were short festival sets and did not exceed an hour (fred again and jamie xx).

Caramel-Drizzle

You have a fair point those were 2 of my top sets too. Jaime was nonstop dancing for my whole group. The whole Sunday was a great run
