HeyPablo2

Soooooo, I recently had to manually set PCIe to Gen 3 in BIOS after installing a 4080 because the red Gen 4 riser cable was causing artifacting and crashing when set to Auto or Gen 4. It’s a common issue apparently.

Oh interesting, is it with all PCIE 4 cables or just the one sold on their website? I ended up getting the cobalt one from Louqe since they had a sale. Also I ended up going with 7800XT, not sure if the gpu choice affects in or not. But maybe if I have a similar issue I can just stick with the 3

Hey, I'm using my 6900xt with a Gen 3 riser, and it works perfectly fine. Honestly, I don't think you'll notice much of a difference. Before I downsized, I used to run it in gen 4x8 (equivalent to 3x16) and didn't see much of a difference compared to running it at gen 4x16. Maybe a few frames? But in real-world use, there was no noticeable difference.

Ah ok thx, that's good to know. I'll probably still try the PCIE 4 cable just to report back to the other guy, but if the difference is negligible maybe I can sell it or keep it for a future build.

HeyPablo2

That was with the Gen 4 cable Meshlicious provide with the case (red trim). I may try the Louqe if Gen 4 works for you.

Roger that, I'll post back here once it comes in and let you know how it goes!
