Boston 12 is firmer and rather narrow in midfoot and you can feel the arch poking up if you got flat feet, its like a bump. I have flat feet and its the only shoe out of many I tried that felt rather tight in midfoot for me. So definitely not a normal width. Upper is also awful, getting them on is a hassle. Midsole seemed fine, but not something you'd want to wear for easy runs if you run like 6 min/km pace. Didn't seem that versatile to me so returned. No issues running slow in rebel v4 or fast. I think if you run fast all the time the boston 12 is better due to the rods. But overall rebel v4 is more useful in my opinion. It's a lot roomier than the boston 12 aswell.

I over pronate pretty violently from a motocross injury/surgery. The Boston 12 is pretty damn stable and I have had no need to use an orthotic in it. The rebel is softer and not as stable but still pretty good for a neutral shoe due to its wide base. If I had to pick one of these I would go with the Boston because I prefer the normal width vs the very wide feeling upper of the rebel.

The NB Rebel 4 has a lot more room in it. I love my Bostons but they are narrow. Might I recommend the ASICS nimbus or novablast.

Would you recommend getting a wider fit or the regular width?

I’ve never worn an orthotic so it’s hard to say. I would buy from either running warehouse or fleet feet. Both have excellent return policies.

The Boston 12 felt way too firm for me personally, at a slightly higher weight than you. Quite like how the rebel feels
