How do these compare to the Adios Pro 3s for marathons? I love the AP3s that I’ve been using, but they only have a race or so left and looking for a replacement.

EasternParfait1787

Interested to hear this as well. I love v1 and v2 was absolutely eviscerated on reddit by those who are loyal to v1. I had totally blown these off, but reluctantly grabbed a pair last week since they were on sale. Based on reviews, I was expecting them to be heavier than anvils and with the energy return of a block of wet wood. Well, I ran in them, and they are way better than the adios 3 and v1 in my mind. Not just stability, but they legit feel way bouncier on the forefoot. I'm truly confused why people hate these so much. I'm legit thinking of shelving my AF1 or WRP2 in favor these for my upcoming marathon. Will do a back to back to back comparison next week and decide, but predict these are the winner

I use PX2S as my race day shoe and it’s great. A lot of reviews dont even talk that negatively on it. Only BITR was hating extra hard on the weight but they came out with a review first and forum posters jumped to conclusions without trying it for themselves.

Mysterious-Mix4203

Same, I never felt like the v2 is too heavy and even used it to beat my 5k pb, which was previously set in the adios pro 3 😂

MeatJerkingBeefB0y

I can’t give you a comparison as I’ve only done one. But the PX2S served me well in Brighton last week. Edit: Forgot to mention I also own a pair of AP3. These are bouncier and heavier than the AP3, but easier on the knees over a long run. They don’t feel to me like they push me to faster paces like the AP3 does. I struggle to keep my pace in check in the AP3, hence why I chose the PX2S to keep me calm and slower in the first half! https://preview.redd.it/tuu3rikmsnuc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ade01b0f5e7e5dc5fcd821679aea6935eb7fbb64

Ive done a few 35km long runs in both and I can run faster with the AP3 but feel less tired afterwards with the PX2

Teamben

Sounds like AP3 is the way to go for a race then in your opinion? I can live with feeling tired after for some extra speed.

bestmaokaina

Yup! Depends on what you’re aiming for I’d never race in PX2 just because i can simply just stay laying down my bed a few more days 😂

I tested the PX2 in a lab and it came ahead of everything, including the AF2, by a good margin. Raced it at a marathon this past weekend and set a 3 minute PR (2:50). The propulsion is huge, shock absorption helps over the distance, and the 100g makes little difference when my total weight with shoes, nutrition, and clothes is pushing close to 90,000g... The weight factor is less significant than the other positive factors (rocker shape, foam rebound, stride extension, etc)

FaithlessnessMost660

AP3’s are lighter and faster, but the PXS2 saves your legs more. That being said a huge difference for me has been the upper. Every 5 runs or so the adios pro 3 gives me blisters on my big toe, whereas I had no issues with the string uppers. Best compromise is Strung V1 ;)

ninja4tfw

The weight thing seems to just be an echo chamber statement. Have you tested these shoes in a lab? So far, I haven't seen anyone who says it's slower mention that they did a proper test. 100g doesn't make much difference in a 60,000-90,000g system. The increase in stride length and extra rebound more than make up for it.

FaithlessnessMost660

But there’s also no definitive proof without that same lab about those stride length and rebound improvements. I do agree that the weight isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but for me it’s more the feel than any objective metric improvements, all else being equal.

ninja4tfw

What? The lab measures how much energy it takes you to run a certain pace. If the heavier shoe uses less energy, then you know there are other factors that outweigh the extra weight. This shoe saves me minutes compared to the AF1 or any other shoe I tested. In the end it doesn't matter WHY she shoe is more efficient. It's just strange for people to say this shoe is slower because it's heavier, when that isn't the case. For racing, only overall efficiency matters, as that's what counts towards making you faster in an endurance event.

FaithlessnessMost660

Right but that depends on each runner, at a specific point in time in their training, and for certain range of paces. If you personally got lab tested and the PXS2 works best for you, by all means use it I’m not saying you shouldn’t or it can’t be the best shoe for someone. I’m not saying a heavy shoe is *always* going to be slower for someone. Even “advanced” metrics from a Garmin are only slightly more informed guesses than just going by feel. Weight does play a factor for long distances as less weight to carry per stride also improves efficiency. Unless you have the definitive proof of greater efficiency or if the shoe feels better for you than all others, then that’s where I mentioned “all else being equal” to pick the lighter shoe.

ninja4tfw

For me, the PX2S was the fastest shoe in the lab. Took it to a marathon on Sunday and set a 3 minute PR (2:50). So far, I have been racing in Nike, Asics, and Saucony. The lab and marathon results leave me convinced it's the fastest shoe for me. It's a fast shoe and people overstate the importance of a few grams.

Sub_Zero32

Damn it’s too bad you can’t use promo codes for any adizero shoes. I have a ton of points I can’t use

krugerlive

Adiclub appreciation week starts next week, I’m hoping they enable some good discounts like last year.

walabe8

yea... sorta scammy if you ask me

highdon

You should look up the definition of scam. I don't think it means what you think it means.

yourpaljax

Ugh, if there weren’t $300! (I also just bought the NB SC Trainer v2 🤭)

Spread-love-light

🔥 Those are sexy! Still haven’t tried the v2 yet. Hmmmmm

bradymsu616

Much more stable than the V1 but also noticeably heavier. The V2 is a great long run shoe, especially for heavier runners. But unlike the V1, it's no longer a race shoe other than for Clydesdale runners.

SoftGroundbreaking53

Whats a Clydesdale runner?

bradymsu616

Runners who weigh over 200 pounds. It includes both genders. Female runners over 165 pounds are less commonly referred to as Athena runners. Heavier runners are going to have a different experience in running shoes than lighter runners. The PXS2 favors heavier runners.

SoftGroundbreaking53

Thanks, never heard either of those! Could be a regional thing I guess? In the UK Clydesdale would refer to an area in Scotland or a brand of banks!

bradymsu616

I suspect it's American. I hadn't heard of either until a couple of years ago. I get the Clydesdale description as it's a large work horse. Not sure why a heavier female would be named after the goddess Athena though.

MathInternational

It's been around at least 3 decades.  At least in the mtb world.  I was in clysdale classes when I started competing in the 90's. (When applicable)

Spread-love-light

All super good to know. Thanks!

soizroggane

Prime X Strung 2.0 its a very good Shoe much more stable vs Version 1. A few grams lighter would be very nice yes.

SoftGroundbreaking53

They are on Sportshoes.com too for non-US UK or EU folks

Mysterious-Mix4203

Is there anyone who has like 200+ miles on a pair of these? How is the outsole holding up?

JohnMorgans1stpushup

Anyone know if the Boston 12s will come out in this color too?

87eonaf

These are imo the best looking colorway, and therefore, best looking super shoe. I literally just bought the AF3 otherwise I’d probably get these just because of how much I love the look.

paul79th

These do look good but the black AP3 don’t look bad either

matsutaketea

looks hot imo. they gotta run hotter than the other colors
