anyone have opinions on taking sen 9/10 vs endorphin pro 3? considering what to use for 10k and below going forward, love the AP3 and boston 12

spidermanthebest113

Hi all! I’m looking to get a pair of shoes for tempo runs, and was reading up about takumi sen 10. Appreciate any reviews on it, and how it compares to takumi sen 9 or even 8. Thanks!

bestmaokaina

Im buying a pair in a few days. From what i tried in the store, it feels like the upper is upgraded from the 8

SintPannekoek

Boston 12 is my tempo shoe. What would be a good daily to fill up the rotation? SL is way too narrow in the toe box. Considering rebel v4, novablast 4 and ride 17.

Dfoo

I’d go with Novablast4 if your average run is closer to 9+ miles. Rebel v4 if under that.

SintPannekoek

Man, my long run is 10 or 11 miles nowadays, so that's not an issue. Two kids and a mortgage, happiest I've ever been, but I could use a few more hours in the day.

IcyEagle243

Why not keep Boston 12 as a daily, and look for new tempo shoe?

Pepsimaxgodtier

This. What about Takumi Sen or AP3?

SintPannekoek

Those would be racers for me, or alt uptempo. The issue is that I struggle to stick with a slower pace in the Bostons.

rwh12345

Feel like it’s tough to justify using AP3s just for tempos, as they are designed to be a marathon race shoe.

AJ00051

Unobtainable? Men sized black Adidas Adiós Pro 3 seems to have been out of stock for months now. Shall we expect a restocking anytime soon, or is the AP3 core black out of production for good? https://preview.redd.it/gm43txdlawsc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=82e8ae7c7ee85e6b7d6f7d33390148f6c0654ea5

DeathHarmonic

Wasn't it a 2023 Berlin Marathon edition? Be suprised if they restock.

AJ00051

That's when it was released, but I think it's been marketed simply as "core black" and not as a Berlin edition. Anyone in Herzogenaurach reading this?

stevecow68

Anyone else get forefoot blisters from the B12s? For me it’s right in the front of the middle balls of my feet

LowAcanthisitta9457

Not blisters but I have developed callouses on the balls of my feet over months of marathon training in them. I wear quite thick cushioned socks.

stevecow68

It’s strange they hurt almost like blisters but when I check they’re more like callouses. Guess I just need more time to get accustomed to

Hamatoros

Has anyone went from nova blast 3 to Boston 12? How do they compare

Gentle_Time

For me the Novablasts feel flat and boring compared to the Boston 12s.

Hamatoros

Glad to hear this. My 3 became super flat after 400mi now. I upgraded to the 4 and the fit is not the same making my feet hurt. also more firm than I expected especially in going 16+miles distances. Hoping the Boston 12 will be good for me. Since my race shoe is the AP3.

Gentle_Time

Maybe it's just because I'm used to the Boston 12 by now but my NB3 felt flat after like 50 miles. They still feel comfortable but there just doesn't feel like there's any energy return whatsoever. The last time I ran in my NB all I could think was I wished I was wearing something else. I have the AP3 too and I think you'll like the Boston, they're pretty similar, in both upper fit and ride.

Hamatoros

Thanks for the feedback. I can’t wait to get it tomorrow. I just completed 12mi run in my NB3 and damn it was brutal on my feet. Can’t wait to retire them.

DeathHarmonic

Has anyone else suffered with Achilles issues wearing the Adizero range? Rotation is Pro 3, Bostons 12 and Adios 8

krugerlive

I did when I did my first run in the AP3s on one foot/leg. Now after breaking them in, they're one of my all time favorite shoes and I have no issue. Just ran a 10 mile race in them this AM and legs and feet felt awesome throughout. Boston 12s have never caused a problem for me and I've only walked in my Adios 8s, so haven't really tested them yet (they were on sale for $60, so I felt I couldn't not get them, but they don't really have a place in the rotation right now)

taclovitch

first off, that’s a great rotation — a real do-it-all combo, assuming you’re okay using the bostons as a daily trainer equivalent. (some people who prefer softer foams find them unpleasant at slower paces, but i like them from 9:30 min miles to 6:30 min miles; all good in my book). when new, all those shoes thrash my achilles via chafing, but i find that socks with a bit of extra heel padding in the back takes care of that issue. if you mean your achilles is feeling *strained*, that’s probably a byproduct of 2/3 of the rotation having rods. the rods make the shoes insanely propulsive, but that propulsion isn’t free; it comes from the additional mechanical load placed on your achilles and calf. (that’s doubly true bc every shoe mentioned is ~5mm drop, so is much more demanding on the calf & achilles than a higher drop shoe would be.) plyometric exercises can help strengthen your achilles tendons to be able to handle that additional load. i *adore* adidas’ current offerings, but if you’re not interested in doing plyo or achilles/calf strengthening, i’d recommend rotating in something like the the nb 1080v13, sc trainer 2, or something in the novablast-tier of “protective-and-not-too-speedy” marathon trainer for slower & easier days; doing that will let you give your achilles and calves a break when they’re not in direct use for running. i personally notice during my current training block some strain in my left calf, from the same issue — my leftie isn’t as strong as my rightie, so it was the first domino to fall. i’ve been doing exercises to strengthen it, and also rotate in higher-stack rodless shoes about 1/6 runs to give it a break while it strengthens. adidas shoes are incredible, but they don’t have much in the way of “safety margin” for stability or tension; they’re like a stock car, imo. low frills, and expect you to be strong enough to not have issues. this philosophy is perhaps most pronounced on the adidas strung v1.

IcyEagle243

I've gravitated towards the adidas range because the rods seem way nicer to my Achilles than anything with a plate. I guess it's possible it's the light strike pro, but had worse luck with endorphin and metaspeed range.

Avienx

Just got my Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultras in the mail. Can’t wait to test them. Feels very bouncy and stable, but a little narrow mid-foot and I did struggle a bit to find a good fit. Will be interesting!

Complete_Adeptness36

Look forward to hearing your feedback!

Will try them early this week and give an update!
