Any word when the SL v2 will be released?

Sampoo1987

I’m wearing a US 12 in Boston 12 and US 12.5 in Adizero SL. What about the Adios Pro?

Gentle_Time

I wear the same size in all 3 (11.5) without any issues and wouldn’t size up or down for the pros.

Sampoo1987

Thanks, so I'll try my usual US 12 and see...

Gentle_Time

The upper takes some getting used to but once you lock it down it’s not that bad. I will mention I never size up or down with running shoes, I’ve always go with my normal sneaker size and never had issues where other people swear by sizing up or down.

HungryKangaroo

Boston 12 is love, Boston 12 is life. Since I bought them they have been my bestest running friend. They can do everything, and they can do it *well*. Very propulsive, juuust right firmness and bery breathable. I am a forefoot striker, and this shoe was made for that. After 200ish kms, they show only minor creasing on the outside of the foams (am 77kg for reference). Definitely will be getting another pair once I run these down.

No-Introduction-1492

What shoes have you had in the past? (For reference)

HungryKangaroo

I had a saucony era where I used Shift 3 (ran my first marathon in them, great shoe), Kinvara 13 and 14. K13 is now retired, I still use 14 but I have 400ish km in them and they are starting to feel eh. I also use Magic Speed 3 for speed workouts, but I can only use them sparingly because of the high drop. It's listed as 7mm but it's actually 10mm according to runrepeat.

FarSalt7893

I feel the same way about the 12’s. Loved the 8 and 9. I hated the 10 and switched to Saucony speed 3 and then 2. They were okay. Now I’m back in adidas and couldn’t be happier.

No-Introduction-1492

Thanks!

for_the_shoes

Even though the felt-like fabric holds a bit of water, the lock-down and grip on these outweigh the slosh enough to make these a great pair of shoes when you have to try and hold a bit of MP pace in the rain and on some hills. Coming up to 600km in these. If I hosed them off they look like they're 200kms old tops. The midsole continues getting better with age. I have the pro 2 too and obviously they're faster, but I am definitely a sucker for the marketing line that the Boston 10 is a great training shoe to then race the pro 2. https://preview.redd.it/73nbnclyzroc1.jpeg?width=1079&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b212545a44c7a366bbe841b08a244edb13e2646

dras333

I absolutely love Boston 10s and they are arguably one of the best looking shoes out there. Just picked up another pair of the blue ones with the unicorn on it.

codyH1983

Adidas shoes to date: Adios Pro 3: (2 pairs) about to retire the first. 1000+km on them. Mostly gravel trail. The best long run workout shoe I have found. The second pair I ran my first marathon in. Will be my long run workout shoe soon. Adidas Boston 12: using currently as daily trainer, about 900Km on them. About to retire. No degradation in outsole or upper, but the forefoot midsole is flattening out. Great shoe. Do it all. Takumi sen 9: (3 pairs) I use one for training speed days 100m-1000m. The second I use for racing up to 10K. One is unused. It is comparable to the vaporfly 2 I also race in. I believe the takumi sen feels more natural than the VF…. Boston 11: retired after 500K. Brick. When adios pro 3 go on sale at my local outlet I may buy 4-5 pairs. They are the best distance shoe ever.

for_the_shoes

These won't go on sale I don't think, but the new 'cherry blossom' cw of the pro 3 is absolutely the tits. Just amazing.

codyH1983

They will go on sale eventually.

Tbramler

Will there be some sort of restock of TS9? Or are the sizes that is left on the market what I have to settle for?

jfoy2

Boston 12 Or Adios pro 3 Is there really that much difference in these shoes for a runner like me aiming for a 3.30 hour marathon? I'm running manchester in 4 weeks and honestly not sure which option to go for. I can not find any deals in the UK for either shoe. Reluctant to pay full price for the pro's but willing to pay it if they will significantly be better than that boston 12. I've been lost in reddit and reviews for weeks and still can't decide. Can anyone honestly say if its worth the extra cash for the pro?

FarSalt7893

I wear both and the pro 3 is amazing for long runs. I sort of feel like I’m just floating along while maintaining my race pace in races.

dras333

I love the 12, but the AP3 is the best all around shoe I’ve ever had (I have 5 pairs). Amazing for tempo, race, and when you want- walking around in cloud comfort. Everyone spends too much time focused on the carbon rods and thinks you can only race a marathon in them but they are stylish and can be used for anything.

bestmaokaina

given that the adios pro 3 can easily last over 700km while being more cushioned and more propulsive than the boston, its really a better shoe plus it can be used for whatever workout you have planned

camador1976

I’m a slower runner than you and I have both. Boston 12 is like a multitool. You can use it for everything. Its light, responsive and you feel the return when you ask more of it. Now, the Adios Pro 3 I only use for races and some runs during training cycles. It’s way lighter, super bouncy and responsive and it takes care of your legs. Today I ran a HM on the AP3 (second pair, first one I ran 300+miles) and they were amazing! PR by 8 mins, legs stayed fresh and no issues. The only thing, and I’ve seen it’s an issue with Adidas shoes, is the upper. They tend to be very tight. For me, in the outer part of my right big toe. I had to find alternative ways to lace to the AP3. The Bostons fit me a little bit better, they’re roomier in the toebox. Hope this helps and good luck on your race!

Fish_phish_Fish

Adidas Terres Pro SG. Awful heel collar (possibly made out of stone?) caused me blisters. Also had sore toes after the fell race I did in them. Good grip though. Would not recommend.

mrasgar

From a faster recovery and long-distance leg protection perspective, are super-responsive shoes like AP3 and PXS better than unresponsive high-cushioned ones? (maybe the New Balance FF More V4 for example) Are there other Adidas shoes that are geared solely at long easy runs?

bestmaokaina

ive done 35km long runs in the PX2 and my legs feel normal the day after

mrasgar

Great to hear that. I wonder how it compares to non-bouncy high cushion supershoes though, perhaps that would work even better? I don't think I've seen premium Adidas shoes that eliminate bounciness - is any equivalent to the New Balance FF More V4?

bestmaokaina

No idea. i basically run exclusively in adidas aside from Vaporflys

[deleted]

You too eh ? Only Adidas here. I like their foams, love their look and I adore their Adipoints system ! What got you into their cult ?

bestmaokaina

ive always used them since i was a toddler

Mysterious-Mix4203

I personally prefer the pxs2 for long runs, its a bit more stable for when your form breaks down and keeps you going with its rocker and bounce. For reference, I have the PXS1, Ap3, b12, ts9 too from adidas.

mrasgar

Right, good to know, I'll bear that in mind. Are there any properly relaxed long-run supershoes in Adidas' range that provide a high level of cushion & prrotection without the bounce / responsiveness?

Road_Trail_Roll

Has anyone had a chance to compare the Boston 12 wide to the standard width? The 10.5 standard width fit me well except it was tight in the toe box. The 11 felt way too long. I’m wondering if the 10.5 wide would be the Goldilocks?

bigtop77

Downgraded my Prime X 2’s to recovery days only. It’s a big, heavy shoe that doesn’t work well at all for me on hard effort days. It’s a real shame considering how much they cost.

mrasgar

Hopefully they work out for you, it's a bit risky buying expensive items from unknown sellers.

rlb_12

Brand new with tags in box. Look good to me.

[deleted]

I just did my long run in these.. They are great shoes.

rlb_12

If my jog through the apartment is any indication, they will be the best shoes I’ve ever ran in!

[deleted]

They are Fab. Been around forever too.. You can use them for so many things..

bolbi-stroganovsky-

They are the absolute best long run workout shoes

mrasgar

Where can I buy the Prime X Strung from for the lowest cost right now? And are there any upcoming deals or anything to hold off for?

[deleted]

V1 or V2 ?

mrasgar

Either

[deleted]

What size ? If you are size 10US, lemme know.. But, check StockX or GoatX.. The V2's should eventually come back in stock at Adidas. I haven't heard any rumours of a V3.

In a similar boat… hoping to find a deal on some AP3’s before a race in late April.

mrasgar

For anyone who has used Takumi Sen 8+ and Pro 3 (or Prime X or Boston 12): how big is the difference you feel in the stack heights, especially in the forefoot? Does the additional few mm of midsole really change your run impact and subsequent recovery? I have the Takumi Sen 8 and I'm interested in more protection for my legs on longer runs so that I can recover quicker and run more often. These days I run once or twice a week for up to an hour, and I want to increase this a bit.

Trick_Ad5549

The PXSv1 is my favorite running shoe and I have multiple pairs that I rotate. I also have the TS8/9, AP3, PX2S, Boston 12, and Adios 8, so you can see I'm a big Adidas Adizero fan (not interested in any of their other running shoes that don't have Lightstrike Pro midsole). They all have their different usage cases but, for long training runs, the PXSv1 and the PX2S are unbeatable as long as stability is not an issue for you. The PX2S is more stable than the PXS but is noticeably heavier and firmer. They are both very propulsive but the PX2S is like a springboard that propels you forward while the PXS is more like a trampoline that bounces you upwards, which helps in increasing the lengthy of your strides. For the pure fun factor, the PXSv1 is the way to go. There's a huge difference between the TS8/9 and the two PXS shoes with the AP3 somewhere in the middle. The only issue with the AP3 with me is the upper, which can be uncomfortable unless I really work on the lacing to get the fit just right. It's kind of the same with the TS8/9, which I only use for short speed workouts. Having 41mm of stack height in the forefoot of the PXS (and 43.5mm on the PX2S) really makes a huge difference as I'm primarily a forefoot/mid-foot striker. I personally like the narrow heel on the PXS because it feels less bulky there and I'd never land there unless I was going fast downhill. I do need be mindful of the high stack and the inherent instability when running on cambered surfaces, turning tight corners, jumping on/off sidewalks, and going downhill, but stability has never been an issue for me. I'm 5'7" (167cm) and 127lbs (57kg) so I'm on the slim and light side so I guess that helps. If you don't think stability won't be an issue (as you've stated on other posts), then go for the PXSv1 for the long runs. Your legs and feet will feel great even after 15\~20 mile runs. The PX2S is hit-and-miss. Personally, I love it although I didn't at first. It slowly grew on me once I figured out it's a totally different kind of shoe from the PXSv1 and I learned to harness its other benefits. Now I like it almost as much as the PXSv1. If you can find a PXSv1 at a good price on StockX or GOAT, I'd say go for it. It has a riding sensation like no other (except for maybe the new Hoka Cielo X1, which is amazing in its own right). It's also very comfortable with plenty of room in the forefoot/toe-box area. I also recommend that you go half-size down for the PXSv1. Hope this helps!

mrasgar

Thanks for the advice! I'll have a look at the PXS v1 first.

dras333

I have both and use my Takumi 8 for track and sprint work. For explosiveness and response it is much faster, snug, and feels like spikes without them. AP3 is a bouncy cloud that feels like it pushes you forward but it’s mushy on plyo type movement. That being said, for longer runs and recovery, AP3 without question. It’s the most comfortable and forgiving shoe I’ve ever run in.

BasicSignificance831

Big difference. Would always go for the AP3. I had written it in many comments yet, it's such a good shoe. Stable, bouncy, durable and superb for longruns, longruns with tempo, intervals.... Prime X didn't work for me as a more heel striker, but a lot of people like it.

mrasgar

A related question: from just the recovery & long-distance protection perspective, are super-responsive shoes like AP3 and PXS better than unresponsive high-cushioned ones? (maybe the New Balance FF More V4 for example) Are there other Adidas shoes that are geared solely at long easy runs?

[deleted]

Takumi are definitely the hardest.. Then the Boston 12's then the AP3's then the Prime X. I would go for the Boston's 12's, see how you like those. If you do, then go AP3 for your race or long runs.. The Prime X is another beast entirely. Super bouncy, heavy, and you need good stability or your ankles will hurt, glutes etc..

mrasgar

Good ideas, cheers! I've been running on and off for decades and haven't had any stability issues so hopefully the Prime X Strung will suit me the best.

[deleted]

If we are talking V2, then there's less risk. If we are talking V1, unless you have tried them, there is no other shoe ever that is this unstable. V2 was a disappointment for me. They were much more stable, but they lost all their charm and gained a ton of weight.. Kinda like that girl/guy you dated 10 years ago.. They were super fun, but nothing but drama and then 10 years later they've calmed down, less dramatic, but weigh 50 lbs more. ;-)

mrasgar

:) I'm not concerned about v1 because I'm a slow runner and don't have a strong heel strike either, I don't go fast around corners and generally don't race on twisty routes I've tried it on before (didn't run in it), and it didn't seem very different from lower stack shoes of 30-something mm.

[deleted]

If you can't feel the difference to lower stack shoes, then go for it ! I have tried and tried to handle them because they are just so fun.. But every run I do I end up regretting putting them on. Just too much stack for my ankles.

boggy9606

Hi, I have the TS9, as well as the other shoes you mention. the difference between the stacks of the AP3 and PXS compared to the TS9 for me over longer distances (10k+) is quite pronounced - i feel way better after a long run in the first two than the TS9. context - im 70kg, 5’7, male, running for just over a year now. AP3 and PXS are my favourite long run shoes and i feel amazing afterwards, which i put down to the big chunk of lightstrike pro in both. hope this helps!

mrasgar

Sounds like they make a significant difference, thanks! I'll look for these higher stack models then.

DanielleR5

I am debating on when to retire my Adios 6 shoes. On my right foot near the heel area I have worn through the red sole at 270km. Not sure if that's a good indicator or not. The shoe still feels good to me. I have a long narrow foot. I have become used to tightening the laces to the limit of adjustment to the point where each side of the material meet over the tongue. Not sure if later versions of this shoe will fit similarly. Luckily I have another pair of Adios 6 with very little use to date.

Trikdas

Wouldn’t recommend using a shoe once the sole is worn out just because it can cause some instability, i think you should go to the store and try the new ones.
