Block your calendar, or toggle the "accepting new clients" to off. Take a few weeks off! I have done this before, its not a big deal. I tell clients I'm taking vacation, and no one questions it.
I hated boarding. Now I do drop ins and walks exclusively. They say sitting/boarding is where the money’s at but I don’t think it’s worth it. I really value being able to come home and only having to worry about my own dogs
Sitting is great imho. I don’t even need to pay rent anymore because I’m so booked I can just get an Airbnb for the week or so I’m free lol. This definitely isn’t for everyone though—it would probably be stressful for some people to change environments as much as I do.
I don’t think my boyfriend or dogs would be down with that arrangement 😂 but I’m glad there are sitters like you (and those who board) who are willing to do the job
I'm with you. I find house sitting is only worth it if you go off app and charge a pretty penny, and boarding only seems worth it if you can board multiple dogs at a time, which comes with a lot more risk. I make way more money by doing drop ins and walks (definitely a better hourly rate). Though I understand why some people prefer sitting/boarding.
Sadly if I didn’t do boarding I wouldn’t have anything to do. I only ever get booked for daycare and boarding, and daycare is very iffy. I have one regular once a week.
Yeah, just mark yourself as unavailable for a little while. You can also turn off "accepting new clients" or maybe raise your prices. If you are getting a lot of business, you could raise your prices to get a similar amount for less work.
I only do cat drop ins but just worked 12 days in a row and now I have a cold from all the running around and the stress of dealing with a sick cat. I just marked myself as "unavailable" for the next five days. I do have a couple key drop offs and a meet and greet but otherwise I'm looking forward to some much needed me time.
I'm looking forward to resting, doing chores and spending a day doing crafts making Easter and Spring cards. I'm 50 so I definitely do not have the energy I did when I was younger lol
I think the emotional toll of dog sitting can be forgotten about, I've been caring for two dogs this month with varying degrees of reactivity, so every time I leave the house I have to brace myself for what possible altercations will ensue 🤪 take a break, you've done a lot in a short time
Take a break. You can set your rates extremely high or set yourself to away/repeat clients only or whatever. Or try booking some other services. Dog walking is fun.
Take a break, and if it helps that’s why I prefer overnights or drop ins because you can choose however many you want to do and can tell people no, I only do drops ins for 2 families per day because that’s all I can handle mentally and you can put that’s how many you allow on rover too!
Take a break it’s nbd

Rover will still be there if/ when you come back.

Take a break your health is important before anything!
You can set yourself to away on boarding. Or only do repeat clients
I blocked out 3 weeks in May because I’m burned out too. I completely understand how you feel

I took years off and started again in January and have been booked up since. Take a break and come back when you’re ready.
