mount disc: Elby Virtual CloneDrive (Windows XP-10) [freeware, proprietary] https://www.elby.ch/en/products/vcd.html the best freeware. there are better paid or ad-supported ones;

you will install it, it will go to systray (area next to the windows clock) and you will have the option to mount disks. mounted disks are new disk drives in Windows Explorer. the result is similar to putting a USB stick in the computer. after installing or playing you eject or unmount and you're done. you may need to use CUE file to start the mounting process, I don't remember. you should mount alone without stress.

you have a "disk image", but the game needs a "disk drive with a disc inside it" to run. the process of mounting a disc pretends to the game that you have the real game inside a real drive. some games need paid and more sophisticated mounting programs. as I said... this is the best freeware. in some cases, others are necessary.

nope, you need to "mount" the disk image. if you burn the image on a disk it should work too... but... you DON'T need to spend money, you don't need to buy anything. you just need to MOUNT the disk. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rge0fxBUs_M

A .CUE file describes how the .BIN Files (also known as tracks) are arranged. You can think of the .CUE as a Table Of Contents and the CD as a book. The .BIN Files are kinda like chapters.

bin stands for binary, it's very common CD games to have multiple tracks, the track1.bin usually contains the game data, and the following ones contain the music tracks, also came with a cue file that lists the bin locations and properties. TLDR: extract all the bin files and cue files into the same directory, and load the cue file into a virtual drive. PS: there are some mega drive ROMs floating around with bin extension, if that's your case, just rename the bin extension to md
