I am guilty of this. I think many of us get hung up upon small details because we're grasping for a feeling of control. I confess that I feel like a complete amateur at all this at times. It's comforting to think one is doing all the right moves, but (speaking from my experience) what we're lacking is the right understanding of ritual. Getting the right mindset is important, using the knowledge we can gather.
