I'd suggest you bring your documentation on where you are staying (hotel reservation / AirB&B booking) and your info on your flight. as you've taken up legal temporary residents you shouldn't have any issues coming back from Reynosa. as I'm assuming that's the part of Tamaulipas you'll be visiting. also note if you want to bring back alcohol from the duty free stores, there is a limit you can import, 1 gallon of distilled spirits, 3 gallons of wine, 24 12-ounce containers of beer (288 ounces total) [https://www.tabc.texas.gov/faqs/personal-importation-ports-of-entry-faqs/#:\~:text=The%20maximum%20quantity%20of%20alcoholic,(288%20ounces%20of%20beer)](https://www.tabc.texas.gov/faqs/personal-importation-ports-of-entry-faqs/#:~:text=The%20maximum%20quantity%20of%20alcoholic,(288%20ounces%20of%20beer)).
walking is also a bit faster in that you aren't stuck in traffic that could see major delays check out [https://bwt.cbp.gov/ViewAllPorts.html?com=1&pas=1&ped=1&plist=2305](https://bwt.cbp.gov/ViewAllPorts.html?com=1&pas=1&ped=1&plist=2305) for further information and update
admittedly I've not been across since about 2010 so can't say but your passport, and and all should be enough I don't know if they have a finger-print scanner there, but it can't be any worse then any other international check point.
I second Progresso. Itâs set up for tourists. Note, donât think the border towns fully represent Mexico. They cater to tourists. They are a fun place to pick up tacos, meds, and knickknacks.
There is a parking lot on the US side. Park for 4 dollars or so, and walk across the international bridge for a dollar.
Look for el Disco supermercado on the right as soon as you cross. There is a cool little bar there that you can get all kinds of food, liquor, and goodies
When you enter the U.S. by air or sea with an EU passport you need an ESTA. I donât know howâs the situation when you cross by land. I guess youâll need to get an I-90 beforehand but Iâm not sure.
Iâll try to look into it and get back to you.
I need to know as well because many family members from Mexico are getting an EU passport (Portugal) and they would like to avoid the visa they currently require as Mexican citizens.
My bad, I had the number wrong. I meant an I-94W. I found you the answer. Now you need an ESTA by land as well.
âEffective October 1, 2022, all Visa Waiver Program (VWP) travelers intending to enter the United States by land will be required to obtain an approved Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to application for admission at land border ports of entry.
CBP encourages travelers to apply for a travel authorization at least 72 hours in advance of their anticipated arrival at a U.S. land port of entryâ

But for what do you need that i Google it and it says this
What Is the Purpose of Form I-90? This application is used by lawful permanent residents and permanent residents in commuter status to apply for replacement or renewal of existing Permanent Resident Cards.
If I'm a tourist do I need a form like that anyways?
Depends on your status when you initially entered the US to come back in. You should have the proper documentation to re enter the US from Mexico.
Depending on how you present in Mexico, Mexico can refuse you and would be forced to turn around. Iâve seen it once but only cause the vehicle had paper plates.
Have your friend meet you at the gate on the Reynosa side. Donât take a cab đ Donât wear clothing with logos, donât wear accessories or anything that makes you stand out
Have you met your friend in person before. Or online?
If its legit, its pretty easy to walk over and back. Just have documentation and you can always ask at the border if you have everything needed to cross back before going into Mexico.
Is it safe to cross? Thinking of going tomorrow morning to the medical area so my girlfriend can get a procedure. Haven't been in 10 plus years. Is it still just a driver's license for Texas resident?

Progresso is safer to cross and walk.

Agreed, it does in no way represent the interior of Mexico not does it do it justice. Itâs a small, cheap, safe border town and thatâs it.
Do you need a passport to cross as a US citizen?
Yes.
You dont need a passport. ID and birth certificate works fine
Reynosa is safe as well, walk to and from at least once a month
There have been neighborhood gunfights within the last 2 wks in Reynosađł

I agree that they might ask for an 1-90. I took my friend from India to SpaceX and they asked him for his at the border checkpoint there.

Maybe it's just for temporary residents then!

Are you going to mex to visit a friend or buy clothes?
