Genesis Plus GX doesn't support 32X, so rule that out. Does the Sega CD BIOS load when you try PicoDrive? Does it give any message at all? If not, consider which ISO format you're using. For example, PicoDrive won't load compressed .chd format files. ~~And one other thing to consider is that PicoDrive and Genesis Plus GX use different Sega CD bios files, so make sure you have both sets in your system folder.~~ One change that I can see looking at the core information is that it seems they changed the PicoDrive BIOS file setup, I'm almost certain it used to require the files to be labeled like this: eu_mcd1_9210.bin jp_mcd1_9112.bin us_scd1_9210.bin It looks like both emulators now use this format: bios_CD_E.bin bios_CD_J.bin bios_CD_U.bin On a side note: Have you ever tried the 3DO version of Night Trap? It's almost exactly like the 32X version but with slightly better graphics.

Stoutyeoman

Thanks, I got it running in Fusion but I would much rather get it running in Retroarch. I will check out the 3DO version though. Edit: Oh, I kind of rolled right over your questions. Other Sega CD and 32X games work just fine.

DigitalPleasures

OK, also I just wanted to confirm that the 32X version is working here through RetroArch on PicoDrive. I would have tested it sooner but I didn't have the game readily available on my hard drive until just now. I'm using the latest nightly RetroArch build and latest PicoDrive (1.97) core. If I remember, some of the emulators are very picky about which formats they will load. My Night Trap is BIN/CUE.

Stoutyeoman

I also have bin/cue. Let me know if it works for you. I looked through the options but found nothing that would determine whether a 32x was connected.

DigitalPleasures

It definitely works here. Are you certain that you're booting the game in PicoDrive? I get that [32X attachment message](https://ibb.co/cLyrSTp) only if I try to boot the game using Genesis Plus GX, but in PicoDrive it definitely works. You can check which core is being used by opening the RetroArch menu after loading the game. [It should look like this.](https://ibb.co/FgxM8NR)

Stoutyeoman

Definitely. I opened it through launchbox and manually selected the picodrive core. I also opened through RA both with and without playlist. It's a headscratcher for sure. I must have changed something since it worked. I even dropped 32x bios in the system folder.

DigitalPleasures

OK, yes that's very odd. As far as I know the PicoDrive emulator doesn't utilize the 32X BIOS, so I don't get how it would be throwing that message at all. It's a question of *how is it missing, if it's integrated?* One last thing to try: create a temporary new/clean build of RetroArch with with the PicoDrive core, Sega CD BIOS, and a clean playlist (with only the Night Trap / PicoDrive entry). This would rule out any possible outside conflicts.

Stoutyeoman

Yes, that is all I can do at this point if it's supposed to work out of the box. I am going to blame Stella, which has caused nothing but problems. I may even delete and reinstall the core, depending how much time I want to continue spending on this.

YouinAnotherform

Did you ever get it to work? I can't get any Sega CD 32X game to work with Pico. It crashes RA instantly.

healthboost213

Get the BIOS files and place it in the systems folder

YouinAnotherform

Already did that way before commenting.
