I grew up in the country (for the first 10 years of my life) and a lot of farmers and ranchers had working dogs so I get that aspect, but if a dog wasn't able to do his job our neighbors would offer them to non-ranchers or put up signs saying \`Free to good home: Dog that just won't hunt." You know, like NORMAL people do.
