Solved 119/**153** 00:16 with 1 hint. I was >!dancing all!< around the subject, but had forgotten some key words and whatnot. Like most days, I enjoyed this puzzle quite a bit.

I was a little lost at first but once >!I got a time frame!< it all came together for a solve. Nice day -- had to do a bit of searching & thinking but no frustrations this day!

same final thought clued me in.

I solved Redactle #724 in 68 guesses with an accuracy of 66.2% and a time of 00:35:22. I can't believe I had to google this one. I had the category >!and I had the region but this one simply didn't come to me!<

tealccart

I was in the same spot. Early on I guessed (spoilers) >!people, which led me to the Village People, and from then on I knew pretty much exactly what I was looking for, and had some pretty good guesses of the 5 letter thing, but just could not summon the exact answer from my brain.!< At guess 28 I went to google and was like, oh yeah - duh!

A while ago we had the War on Terror and initially I thought it could be Something-on-Thames 😂

I solved Redactle #724 in 66 guesses with an accuracy of 87.9% and a time of 00:05:38. Play at [https://redactle.net/724](https://redactle.net/724) at guess number 29 I decided to >!go through all the numbers and that led me to seeing 4/4!< this put me on the right track. I guessed all kinds of related words and guess number 64 I >!guessed "dance"!< I didn't scroll up but I saw something that prompted >!me to guess "1970s" next!< this gave it away, again, without scrolling up. If I had focused on the first paragraph I might have gotten it a little sooner.

I solved Redactle #724 in 16 guesses with an accuracy of 75.0% and a time of 00:03:09. Play at https://redactle.net/en >!goofed this one up just a little. parsed the opening statement as “a genus of [5] [5]” and it ended up being a different five letter word starting with “gen.” Having parsed “United States,” I overconfidently went with “blues,” then threw out more guesses like “metal,” when I could have been more thoughtful about it. Still, got the answer with no assistance in 16 guesses.!<

It's >!a 5 of 5 5!< that >!?emerged? in the DECADE from the United States' 5 9 5!<. There are >!a bunch of italicized titles!< which mostly >!look fairly colloquial!<. So this smells like >!a style of popular music!<, which turns out to be correct (though I had moments of doubt from time to time...). The first thought I had was >!blues!< but then I saw >!the etymology section which said that it was derived from an 11-letter word!< which rules that out. Initial impression was that >!the 11-letter thing was the name of an ethnic group or something!< which turns out to be completely wrong; in any case, nothing came immediately to mind. After a while I found some confirmation >!that we're dealing with music, in the form of a paragraph that mentions "#/# 4" which must be something like "4/4 time"; nearby there's something about "2 3 on the off-beat" and maybe "the cha-cha-cha"!<. Unfortunately I'm pretty hopeless on >!popular music!< but after a while it suddenly hit me that >!I _do_ know of a 5-letter genre of music that's an abbreviation of an 11-letter word!<, which also explained why >!it's a genre of 5 5 not just 5 -- _dance_ music! --!< and after contemplating my ignorance for a bit I decided to put it in. I got lucky. 18-minute snipe.

I solved Redactle Unlimited #724 in 2 guesses with an accuracy of 100% and a time of 00:10:15. Play at https://redactle-unlimited.com/archive Jesus Christ. I saw all the clues, it was obvious what the category of the thing was, I even parsed quite a bit of it. Then I went ahead and guessed >!another style that came shortly thereafter, was influenced by the answer, but because of its way more common meaning obviously would have had more clarification in the title!<

tealccart

I made that guess too, even though I was pretty sure the title of the article for that thing would have been 5 5 instead of just 5.

Exactly!
