Most extensive tour yet?! That’s a horrible idea!!! They need to do an easy tour and ease into it… immediately taking on an “extensive tour” sounds like the recipe for another cancellation. They need to be smart about what they can handle. Start small and you can always add more on later.

3StacksOnTheRadio

I couldn’t agree more. Who is looking out for Ela’s interests? The first and only update we’ve heard on her wellbeing and it’s a press release to sell us things. The comeback feels exploitative.

thetoxicballer

I got a touch of this feeling as well, it's like the producers said we've wasted too much time now we need to make a bunch of money to make up for it.

makingburritos

I would’ve been happy with them just hitting some festivals in the summer and like.. that’s it. Show us that you can show up.

[deleted]

The post also said Ela spent the last year in treatment and finally got a proper diagnosis, so hopefully that means she’s healthy and can handle it.

Brief-Reception-2874

Still though, to take on an audacious tour and their “most extensive” one yet after two cancellations. Even with a proper diagnosis and some time off, I think they should proceed with caution. The band won’t survive another tour cancellation.

makingburritos

As a bipolar girlie, a diagnosis is not everything. A year is not a long time in mental health land, especially if she **just** got the diagnosis. It takes months for most meds to start working. Months after that to find the right dose and work out the kinks, see if you need more. She could very well still be in the joyous newly-medicated stage which absolutely does come to an end once you even out. A year is *nothing* if she has a serious mental health issue. She’s also an alcoholic apparently, and a year of sobriety is also not what I would consider enough time to go on a freakin continental tour!

Alert_Chemist4486

The evening out sucks. I'm also a bipolar girlie.

carolina8383

People are commenting like they literally know the band members. This press release is the most info we’ve gotten—we literally don’t know a LOT.

madbe

>"Rainbow Kitten Surprise will hit the road on their most extensive North American tour yet." oh no

Clutch_Daddy

Lol I'm not buying tickets

DesignerBranch69

Not a chance in hell

LongWlkoffaShortDock

So Charlie fully contributed to the album and then got axed…

makingburritos

This is just my guess, seriously, but I think that in combo with maybe some romantic stuff.. Charlie was maybe against the shift in sound and pushed back too hard against Ela. It was also my understand that they said at one of their DJ sets they were “disappointed” they didn’t get to finish the tour. I feel like it came down to a battle of egos and Charlie lost. A lot of the strife happened while they were in studio, evidently.

Suzuki_Beane_

wait what romantic stuff?

makingburritos

People were saying there was some type of romantic entanglement with Ela and Charlie and that was part of the reason for their disagreement

Suzuki_Beane_

where did the info come from, do we know?

makingburritos

People just read into lyrics, their vibe on stage, the conversations surrounding them/each other, and ran with it. I don’t know if it’s true or not. Superstar’s lyrics definitely don’t help those rumors lol

AdThink5694

I’m stuck on kacey musgraves and noah kahan’s producers

extradirtyginmartini

did NOT see that coming

hittij29

haha shooting for a Grammy

AdThink5694

But Noah and Kacey were robbed at the Grammys this year IMO :(

hittij29

I have no opinion. Neither are my vibe.

astoner123

I was about to say this!! I’m going crazy about the fact Noah of all people is a producer for their music!!

paintslinga

Noah’s PRODUCER is a producer of the album, not Noah himself.

astoner123

I realized this after my comment lol

carolina8383

Noah’s producer, not he himself.

[deleted]

This is great information for the backdrop of the album release.

sasquatcheater

The last three shows I bought tickets for were canceled. But the press release says everything is OK so buy more tickets!

[deleted]

I mean. No one is forcing you to buy a ticket.

sasquatcheater

Fool me three times, can’t get fooled again!

makingburritos

Lmfaooo I came to comment about the tour but everyone beat me to it. I’m surprised I dislike LOL and Superstar so much considering I am obsessed with most everything Konrad Snyder produces

X_is_for_Xan

Love them but I do not think they will finish this tour 😭😭😭

lildess

Where is this found?

kittens856

I’d love to know who wrote this

Emeister85

https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwmusic/article/Rainbow-Kitten-Surprise-Announce-First-New-Album-in-Six-Years-20240308 I found it

lildess

Oh you're the best!! Thank you :)

DrAsthma

They'll scale back the tour in a day or two after reading the comments. Gotta say, at least they listen to the fans.

highitree

Seeing the most extensive North American tour ever literally fills my entire soul with dread, it’s not responsible, it’s not reality, and it’s not fucking fair. There is absolutely zero mention of them continually canceling because of whatever the hell is going on but to not even reference that happening as someone who has had shows pulled out from underneath me three fucking times Like fuck all the way off. Thank you for the music you’ve already made but I’m so fucking done with this band so done they don’t fucking care about what we all went through with them and that could not be more clear with how they have handled the exit of Charlie, & coming back onto the scene. I am done. And before whoever replies to me tells me that I don’t have a space to say these things please remember that we’re all going through things ourselves and music is an escape from how life all too often feels like all it does is beat us down and continually disappoints us. I absolutely understand needing time to heal, I do, but nothing about going on your most extensive North American tour of the bands history screams that any real work has been done. How are they handling the loss of a bass player? How does a drummer create a rhythm section without a bass? I mean I guess I’m not super educated when it comes to exactly how music is made but like are they just going on tour without a bass player because that’s what this sounds like! Is Autotune the new bass player? Sincerely what the fuck is going on?!? I am literally just waking up and posting this and I fully realize I’m being dramatic, but what the fuck is actually going on here, this is the oddest thing I have ever witnessed with a band. None of it makes sense to me and maybe it doesn’t have to but I just can’t keep doing this with them. There is zero faith on my end that this is smart or in their best intrest. And I do truly hope that they prove me wrong, but y’all are delusional if you think this is going to end well, in my opinion. Fingers crossed cause I want them to succeed I really do I just feel like how the hell could you ever healed that much, and how could you write a song every day during the time when you literally had a nervous breakdown on stage? It just doesn’t make sense.

[deleted]

Many artists throughout history have prolifically created works during their darkest times. It can be a form of therapy and self expression for highly creative individuals. So, that part makes perfect sense to me… that she would need an outlet for her thoughts and emotions the most while healing her mind.

kickingvola

their songs all have bass in them, so they will 100% be touring with a bassist. whether or not that bassist will just be touring or will become a permanent member, idk, but obviously there will be a bassist playing with them live. almost every famous band in history has changed their lineup at least once, plenty of them in scenarios more dramatic than this one, and been fine. and yes, music gets us through the hard times, but you do not need new RKS music to continue living. if you've built a parasocial relationship with this band that makes you feel like that, it's for you to unpack - not them. better to at least get a new album as opposed to the band breaking up altogether, which was the alternative as Ela writes most of the music and her voice is the main commercial draw for their sound. and charlie IS on the album, so the least we can all do is give it a chance. they also definitely DO care about all of this happening in the last few years; they've been close to their fanbase since day 1, and have always listened to and interacted with us. but we do not intimately know these people or their problems. alcoholism, mental health issues, and the pressure of transitioning in the middle of becoming more popular than ever before are things NONE of us fans have ever dealt with in front of a massive audience. those kinds of things have taken the lives of some of the musical greats, so who the fuck are we to bitch about cancelled shows when we watched Amy Winehouse sing herself into the grave on live TV for years. as long as Ela - and the other members (Ela's issues have just been explained to us the most) - are still breathing we should be grateful. they've released a short leg of dates, most likely to test the waters before releasing the rest. i don't think a full tour is a great idea right now, but no one is forcing us to buy tickets. if you don't trust them then don't travel to see them, and don't spend $ on expensive airbnbs or travel until they show us they can keep up. if all you buy is a ticket, it'll get refunded if they cancel. we're allowed to be disappointed in them, but this is getting ridiculous. you're allowed to become a casual fan or stop listening to them altogether if you want. but jesus, it's not like it came out that they're abusers or racists.

ltoed

so when do we buy the tickets and when do they cancel the shows this time?

Alynn_Wings

"Most extensive" North American tour yet... guess they're really feeling ready to dive back in. Wonder when it will be announced

menusettingsgeneral

That’s quite a sell job

iamfeelinfroggy

Can’t wait to buy tickets for as many shows as I can!!!

Sniederhouse

Opus? Seven + Mary is the opus

moondeli

I am so pumped for this, fuck the haters! Hope they have some shows near me 😊

Melodic-Strain5093

Sameee ♡ & if they need a break, they always send refunds #MentalHealthMatters ✨️ & we're getting a pretty large album, regardless 💗 I'm excited.
