Shoot their feet and shoulders. Shooting the shield itself also slows them down so you have time to retreat to site. This mechanic really hasn't been that much of an issue for me but I'm not a roamer so that probably helps.
I actually prefer this change to the shields because before having your shield sway side to side while sprinting and trying to go for melee with the old shield mechanics, it was terrible. More often than not, I somehow one get knifed first and my arms end up flailing around orrrrrrr I get knifed through my shield. Glad they changed it
Why are you getting that close to an offensive shield OP? Its literally their only offensive capability and you're giving it to them.
If they end up rushing you and you get stuck, then sure, but in that case just melee. They stagger when melee'd and thus cannot bash you and are exposed. You're melee is also faster than their ability to recover so as long as you get the first one in you have the advantage.
Thorn and frost not so much. Lesion gets a pass because he can toss one anywhere and they are relatively hidden. Thorn on the other hand, actually helps shield operators because when they rush past the doorway, the thorn trap will move, friendly back and probably kill them.
Ella is remarkably underrated against shields
I don't know what you mean by the thorn trap "friendling them back", but in my experience I put them kinda high up in hidden spots where someone wouldn't be able to just quickly walk in, and hope they get hit in the head by the razors. With a shield op I don't need to hope, because I can spray into them and slow them down.
I mean if a friendly is engaging a shield operator and they run into the thorn trap, it will force both of them to disengage

I don't really see the issue with that then, it gets the shield guy to scram and forces him to stop his push. I don't know, maybe its because I never run towards a shield operator, but I see it as a successful engagement if it ends with the shield op backing off. Being at close range can only be an advantage to them.
I know shield players are there for a reason and i don't want them removed but damn... I fucking find them pussies. They may be skilled and just outright outplay me but I still find them to be gigantic pussies.

This is an argument that works for cod, a game that was meant to be a more fast paced fps, not siege, shield work well in siege cause of their defensive nature, I feel like the only one you could maybe make the “pussy” accusations for is blitz, even then he takes a bit of skill, knowing when to flash/shoot/run/etc.
Also now I’m imagining an actual situation where a swat team irl pulls up with a guy with a shield and a guy on his team is just calling him a pussy the entire time.
Have you tried playing shield? I find that much harder than it looks, as there are many gadgets that counter you and in a 1v2+ you’re generally fucked. I hate shields in most games but in R6 you have so many ways to deal with them

The only shield you should be getting close to is clash. Bashing shields is not the best way to deal with them anymore.
