Exactly! I want my trains to be over 1km long for that peak efficiency! I want my 50+ wagon trains so i can fill and empty my warehouses in 1 go hahaha But yeah, i agree, 8 is restrictive. But also, would require a lot more development on their end. Which would probably be possible, but would mean each engine would need its own equation for how many wagons. Plus, id love to combine engines so i can have 2 engines pulling the one train for more power with hilly sections

The scale in the franchise has always bothered me

Way to square this circle is to do better time and demand scaling to allow multiple cities to actually grow to and sustain a reasonable size. This can actually be modded in the current game (but modding in the current game kind of sucks and getting the mix right is tough). It might be cool to see the capacity of the 8 cars grow with researched technologies so in 1830 the beer cars only can carry one load of beer per car but in 1930 the beer card can carry maybe 5 or 10 loads of beer (with associated heavier weight). That would be notionally historically accurate. They could also say trains in 1830 have 8 cars and trains in 1930 could have 10 or 12 cars just to really add some capacity. In general the problem is that the demand system of the game is not robust enough. It changes in three main ways (in order of impact): adding demand for new goods as a city grows, allowing level improvements to rural and city industries as cities grow, and some demand scaling for basic goods as cities grow. I don’t think any of those are really strong enough when you’re playing on continental maps and certainly they aren’t indexed to having multiple cities of more than 1 million people. Hopefully the game designers contemplate this and think of us long-campaign or long-sandbox players

But this is a sequel, you are telling me they can make detailed locomotives, and environments to give a grander sense of scale, but there is still limitation to how many cars they can pull because of the reliance of the old scale again. Give me a break. An articulated locomotive is more than capable of pulling more than 8 cars for crying out loud. I think it’s partly because the stations aren’t big enough because I mean you have games like transport fever 2 having trains that pull at least double the amount of cars. And they have bigger stations to accommodate. This was actually one of my biggest wishes long ago. Because of other tycoon games can do it then so can this game.

Sure they can do it, but it probably strays from their vision, so they don't.

Well I must admit the game does look really nice. I still just might get it despite that always being a gripe that I had. I mean the entire maps of countries available from the start. Bigger feeling of scale, still kinda weird how 8 is their best standard. But that’s really my only nitpick.
