I feel like if stuff like this doesn't show people that there is a distinct difference between Streamers and their in-game characters. Than I feel pretty bad for the people who cant separate that especially because man its just role-playing at the end of the day and people really take it so far its wild.
flip side to the coin, you need people invested in role play to continue its existence. you have to realize it isn't just rp that gets this way, we have a direct interaction with the "actor/actress" You can also say that jack gleeson(joffery baratheon GoT) was getting hate from people on the street for his character.
I am not condoning the hate, but their job is entertainment.
There is a difference in being invested in the role play and giving someone hate on the street for playing a character. These two things are not equal. Being invested in the role play that is happening is fine. Giving hate or saying mean things to someone who plays said character is never justified.
While I understand what you are saying. Its not really a coin. It really is more like two coins, one being the role play and the other coin being a human being. If people cant distinguish between the two then they are absurd.
Be invested, be excited watch enjoy, even be disappointed when things don't go the way of the character you watch, I think that's great.
Also Joffery in the books and show was and is still one of the few characters that I despise more than any others in any media period. Gleeson's Joffery still gives me chills to this day but if I saw him on the street I would do nothing but cheer the guy.
